C11 – Wen Huaimu Is too Powerful
Finally, the off-road vehicle came to a halt on another street.
The bearded man paid no attention to Wen Huaimu as he stepped out of the vehicle.
Curious, Wen Huaimu rolled down his window for a better look.
Another Toyota sedan was parked on the narrow street, flanked by two men in black suits.
As the bearded man approached, one of the suited men stepped aside. The Toyota’s window slid down, revealing the upper half of a middle-aged man’s head.
His hair was impeccably combed, and the sunglasses he wore lent him an air of gravitas.
Upon nearing, the bearded man greeted him with a smile, “Mr. Huan.”
“A Votroecorian, no less!”
Wen Huaimu’s gaze sharpened as his enhanced eyes and ears closely monitored the unfolding scene.
“How’s it going?” inquired the middle-aged man.
“Flawlessly,” the bearded man reported. “The chairman of the company has been eliminated, and we’ve successfully pinned it on Yao Hu. By now, everyone’s likely suspecting a covert feud between Mu Shuxin and Yao Hu. All that’s left is to sit back and reap the benefits.”
“Well done,” the middle-aged man said, his smile reflecting his satisfaction. He then addressed the bearded man, “Chen Jun, you’ve also excelled. If this operation is a success, you’ll become the Howlingswords’ representative in Anbury.”
“Your mentorship is invaluable. I am wholeheartedly committed to the Howlingswords!” The bearded man’s face lit up with excitement, and he promptly bowed in gratitude.
“You’ve earned your reward. Keep up the good work. I must be off now.” Pleased with the bearded man’s demeanor, the middle-aged man gave a nod and raised the car window. The suited men swiftly got back into their vehicle, the engine roared to life, and they vanished into the cityscape.
Once the Toyota was gone, a smug grin spread across the bearded man’s face. “Yao Hu, Mu Shuxin, it seems I’m destined to rise above you and become the true king. Heh, something you’ll never see coming.”
Wen Huaimu watched the scene unfold with astonishment, then quietly rolled up his window, deep in thought about his next move.
He extended a hand stealthily, as magic swirled rapidly around his palm. It swiftly morphed into strands of the wind element, spinning between his fingers, conjuring three small, invisible wind blades.
The man with the beard touched his ear, only to freeze in shock—his palm was smeared with blood!
And the pain that shot through his ear when he touched it was excruciating.
“Ah! That hurts!” The bearded man clutched his ear and turned to look, finding an ear lying silently on the bed.
“What in the world? My ear! How did my ear just fall off?”
Wen Huaimu couldn’t help but feel a surge of satisfaction at the sight of the bearded man’s severed ear. This was the price for abducting me, he thought. And the consequences would only worsen from here.
With another tremor of his palm, Wen Huaimu unleashed another wind blade.
As the blade sliced through the air, the bearded man felt a sudden coldness on his other ear, followed by a searing pain. Twisting around, he saw half of his ear on the ground!
The man’s face drained of color. Had he encountered a ghost?
“Now you understand, don’t you?” Wen Huaimu said with a smug grin.
“It was you! You’re behind this!” The bearded man spun around, his face contorted with rage as he stared at Wen Huaimu.
“Indeed, it was me. And what can you do about it? Can you harm me?” Wen Huaimu taunted, his triumph sending the elfin in the molding space into a frenzy.
“Yes, slash him, keep slashing, cut off his nose, gouge out his eyes.”
Hearing this, Wen Huaimu was at a loss for words. Weren’t elfins supposed to cherish life and adore peace? Why did she seem so bloodthirsty?
