C17 – The Casino

At a table adjacent to the craps, Wen Huaimu was taken aback to discover a teenager who, like him, was visiting for the first time. The youth was in the company of a corpulent woman in her thirties who had her arms wrapped around his slender waist. Upon closer inspection, Wen Huaimu was shocked to see the woman’s hand flicking at the boy’s crotch area.

With a sympathetic glance, Wen Huaimu observed the young man’s pallid complexion.Updated from n0velb(i)n.c(o)/m

“Do you want to play dice?” Miss Zhuang, noticing Wen Huaimu’s pause, mistook his interest for a desire to gamble and cheerfully inquired.

Casting a look at the dice cup that was rhythmically flicking, Wen Huaimu chuckled, “Sure, let’s give it a shot. Watch me work my magic.”

“I’m quite eager to see,” she responded.

They moved closer to the table, and Wen Huaimu took a seat on a tall stool. Miss Zhuang naturally perched herself on his lap, her body seemingly melding into his embrace.

A Nighty Night staff member, clad in uniform, caught sight of the purple coin box in Wen Huaimu’s hand. His eyes sparkled with recognition, and he beamed at Wen Huaimu, assuming he was some affluent young master.

“Tell me, dear brother, will it be high or low?” Miss Zhuang asked, her gaze intoxicating as she looked at Wen Huaimu.

As soon as Wen Huaimu sat down, he extended his psychic force to probe the dice cup. He had merely intended to experiment, but to his surprise, his psychic force effortlessly penetrated the cup. It brushed over the three dice inside, and in a flash, their pips were etched into his mind.

The dealer blinked, then considered altering the dice within the cup.

Truth be told, he had planned to roll a high number since the bets on low totaled over 30,000, dwarfing the few thousand wagered on high.

But Wen Huaimu’s bet flipped the script, prompting the dealer, on instinct, to aim for a low outcome.

“Give him the high roll!”

A faint whisper reached the dealer’s ear, unheard by others.

Startled, the dealer swiftly lifted the dice cup, revealing the outcome to a chorus of astonishment.

Wen Huaimu merely smiled, his joy not quite reaching his eyes. He too had heard the whisper. The dealer’s earpiece was a telltale sign of surveillance, a hint that the casino’s eyes were on him and Miss Zhuang.

In such a treacherous den, it was a wonder any gambler left with their fortune intact.

With a knowing smile, Wen Huaimu turned to Miss Zhuang and murmured, “Sister, let’s up the ante next round, shall we?”

Miss Zhuang’s eyes narrowed as she regarded Wen Huaimu with a mix of surprise and curiosity.
