"Then I'll come with you." The Sy Madame paused and continued. "Just treat as another vacation since I also need one. I'll also stay with so at least I could personally get to know your parents. After all, we'll soon become a family." The Sy Madame cheerfully said. She's happy with her own idea.
She no longer need to miss her most lovable grandchildren plus, she will also get to know her beautiful daughter in laws family. Indeed what a perfect idea!
"If that's the case, then I'll also come over." The other three people both turned their heads towards the old master Sy. "What? I also wanted to spend time with my grandchildren. And since both of you are already engaged, then it's only proper that the groom's parents to visit the bride's family!" The old master Sy, was quick to justify his not so original idea.
"Then do you also plan to stay there until we could get the twins back herr dad?" Rawlf asked carefully.
"Hmp, it depends on my mood. I don't need for anyone of you to assist my coming and going. When do you plan to leave by the way?"
"Next Monday. We'll be boarding Veronica's private plane so it will be convenient for the twins."
"Alright! Then I'll get going to prepare my things first.!" The old master said then stood up to walked of the study room.
When the old master Sy left, the three silent people looked into each other's eyes.
"Is that okay with you mom?" Veronica asked Vanessa.
"Hm. Just let that old man be. He may not have been the kind of husband but he's been a good father to Rawlf. The conflict between him and me is only just and would only just stay between us. I won't let it affect my adorable grandchildren."
Veronica stood up to sit beside the Sy Madame. This time, she initiated an intimacy with the Sy Madame by hugging her to show her gratefulness. "Thanks mom."
'If only all people were as rational as the Sy Madame'. Veronica thought. She already admired her when she found out that instead of acting as a miserable martyr with her husband's infidelities, she rather act on her maternal instinct and safeguard and prioritized her own son. And now, instead of dwelling on her pride, she didn't make a fuss out of the old master Sy's plan to also come with them back in Country R and was generous enough just to not make a trouble. What a strong, rational and admirable woman. She not only admire and respect the Sy Madame, Veronica is starting to also fall in love with her, as an individual, and soon to be, her mother in law.
While Veronica is hugging the Sy Madame, Madame Vanessa Sy and Rawlf looked into each other's eyes. Both eyes held a happy glint.
Three kilometers away from the heart of City, there stood a five story building that served as a relocation site for the slum people of City I. The building was established two years ago, under one of the fundraising event organized by the Li Madame as she is known to be a philanthropist. The said project was strongly supported by the local government of City I, the reason why it was also a success. And of course, one of the biggest contributor of this project is Rawlf Sy through the Sy Madame. This is also the reason why the Sy Madame had been friends with the Li Madame, it's because of her kind nature which the Sy Madame, even if she won't publicly admit, liked about the Li Madame.
The Li Madame as the head of this fundraising project named the public residential place as Hope Residence. In line with its given name, the building indeed gave hope to the people who reside there. Because of course, the housing was given for free among the eligible people, technically those who used to live on the slums. But it doesn't mean that their electricity and water were for free. Not everything is for free. But all in all, these people are still fortunate to have been given proper place to reside.
Located at the third story, there was a small apartment at the far end. Inside that small apartment, there lived a lone woman. She looked older than her actual age of forty three. It must be the cause of hard labor. But only the woman, who decided to live alone since she lost her only son many years ago, could tell that it's not because of the hard life she has gone through all alone, but because of the guilt, pain, and regret she carry on everyday of her life.
The woman was stirring the rice porridge which would serve as her meal for the whole day when she heard a knocking on the door. The woman ignored it thinking it must be one of the neighbor asking for salt, sugar, or whatever they lack. Generosity is good but when you experienced lacking and having no one to run to, you would also learn how to live selfishly for your own survival.
The knocking isn't stopping anytime soon which irritated the woman and decided to open the door murmuring, "This is the last time."
"What is it?" She asked right away and paused after seeing the man outside.
