“Hello, Lieutenant Eddie!”
A loud call caught the attention of Lieutenant Eddie Claude. He noticed a subordinate approaching, saluting him. Eddie Claude’s eyes showed a hint of confusion, but he nodded in acknowledgment, maintaining a demeanor of pride and aloofness.
Once the subordinate left, Eddie Claude remained rooted to the spot. Glancing at the time displayed on his smart brain he realized that he had been standing there for half an hour. Furrowing his brow, he doubted if he had misread the time. The passage of time seemed faster than he remembered, and even more peculiar…
A strange fatigue engulfed his body, making his internal organs feel numb. It felt as if something was constricting his throat, and everything seemed a bit off.
He even drooled.
The dripping red blood couldn’t be wiped away completely, staining his pristine sleeves. Eddie Claude wiped off the saliva from the corner of his mouth with disgust, using his delicate white handkerchief. It was a new one, the old one had long been burned along with the clothes stained by the Sinful Star.
This one would also meet the same fate.
Unknown to him, the white handkerchief gradually soaked with speckled bloodstains.
A pungent odor surged from his throat, as if decay and festering pus pouring out from his rotten insides.
Pain, confusion, and cognitive disarray.
In a daze, Eddie Claude felt that something was amiss.
It was difficult for him to accept why he suddenly resembled an elderly person unable to control his drooling.
Avoiding the gaze of his subordinates, he discreetly discarded the bloodstained handkerchief into the spaceship’s incinerator.
Without looking back, Eddie Claude threw the handkerchief into the incinerator and immediately walked away, unaware of the once-white fabric now tainted by bloodstains, burning gracefully like white snowflakes in the flames.
*Cough, cough, cough—*
A sudden, violent fit of coughing freezed Eddie Claude in his tracks. The spasms of pain in his organs caused his eyes to squint with puzzlement.
In his mind, a pair of unfamiliar sea-blue eyes flashed.
Those eyes were strikingly similar to Prince Kyle’s sea-blue eyes, yet a single glance revealed their stark difference.
Just the act of locking eyes with him made his whole body shudder, overwhelmed by an irresistible sense of fear.
So, who was he?
Half an hour ago.
“Who are you?”
Eddie Claude was on high alert, facing this intruder on the spacecraft, attempting to threaten, “What is your purpose here? Intruding into an Imperial military spacecraft is a serious crime. If you make any rash moves, hundreds of soldiers on this ship will surround and kill you.”
Si Huaixi, with icy eyes gleaming, approached steadily, silent and menacing.
Eddie Claude’s eyes flashed with caution. The reason behind this handsome stranger’s sudden appearance on the spacecraft was unclear, but knowing that he was currently unarmed was enough.
“I warn you… Bang, bang!” Eddie Claude tried to distract Si Huaixi’s attention by speaking, while pulling out a firearm and aiming at the center of Si Huaixi’s forehead.
A cruel smile crept upon his cold lips.
He could already imagine the image of the handsome man in front of him, with his mind blown to pieces.
The bullets, moving at a speed imperceptible to the naked eye, swiftly approached right in front of Si Huaixi. The gust caused by their speed ruffled Si Huaixi’s dark, silky hair, but his cold, unyielding eyes remained unaffected.
The bullet’s tip compressed into a flat shape, abruptly stopping just before Si Huaixi’s forehead, as if blocked by an invisible shield that was neither clear nor touchable.
Si Huaixi extended his slender and fair hand, plucked the suspended bullet, and gently pinched it between his two fingers.
The bullet instantly flattened, revealing its metallic structure, and iron powder trickled down as his fingers casually caressed it.
Eddie Claude’s face turned pale. He was startled by this bizarre scene. Even as an Alpha, few individuals possessed the talent to perceive the trajectory of a bullet, let alone the unimaginable ability to catch it barehanded, something that seemed straight out of a movie.
This person was a monster!
Appearing in front of him, there was likely no good outcome. He had to escape, quickly get out of the monster’s line of sight!
Bang, bang!
Two more gunshots rang out.
Eddie Claude didn’t care whether he hit the monster or not. He immediately dashed, utilizing the formidable physical prowess of an Alpha to reach an extreme speed in a short time. The piercing wind penetrated his lungs, causing aching throbs.
He ran with all his might for ten minutes until he could no longer hear any sounds, especially the footsteps of that monster.
Eddie Claude slowed down his pace gradually, thinking that he had finally shaken off the monster. He cracked a smile, turned his head…
His pupils froze in an instant.
The monster was still following him, within a distance of three meters, neither close nor far. The chilling and bone-piercing azure eyes stared at him, resembling a deep-sea whale flicking its fins, driving helpless fish and shrimp with the immense waves into its abyssal jaws.
Marked for death.
“Where are you going?” Si Huaixi spoke with icy eyes.
The frigid and heartless question aroused the deepest fear within Eddie Claude.
He instantly felt his legs weaken, and his trembling pupils trembled as he flattered, “Sir, may I ask if you have any requests? I am the heir of the Claude family. As long as you spare my life, the Claude family will do everything in our power to serve you.”
Si Huaixi stared at the nobleman who now begged before him, layers of intense darkness shading his deep eyes. A low, suppressed laughter escaped his chest, heavier than crying.
“Where are you hiding Pei Zhouzhou?”
Eddie Claude was frozen in place, could it be that this monster was seeking revenge for Pei Zhouzhou?
In his understanding, Pei Zhouzhou was a lonely individual, so how could anyone seek revenge for him? He was just an ordinary commoner without any background. Even though he had managed to climb to the position of an Imperial Major General through his own abilities, he was still considered a lowly person at the mercy of the aristocracy.
“Sir, are you here for Pei Zhouzhou?” Eddie Claude rotated his eyeballs, flashing a flattering smile while scheming in his mind to lie and deceive.
“Where is he?”
A chilling aura coiled around his neck.
Eddie Claude rehearsed in his mind, planning to lie and make this monster believe that Pei Zhouzhou was still in their hands, hoping to prevent any rash actions.
“Sir, Pei Zhouzhou…”
Gazing into those deep, melancholic eyes of sapphire blue, as if all the world’s secrets couldn’t escape those eyes that saw through people’s hearts.
“…he’s dead.”
As those words unexpectedly slipped out, Eddie Claude instantly panicked, nervously looking towards Si Huaixi, attempting to come up with a rebuttal.
“He… he… I killed him.”
Eddie Claude froze, cursing himself for speaking the truth. Damn it!
Si Huaixi felt a pang in his eyes, still believing that Brother Pei was alive. His spiritual power had marked Brother Pei’s body, and the faint sense of spiritual connection told him that Brother Pei must be alive somewhere he couldn’t find.
Even though everyone claimed Brother Pei was dead, that no one could survive the calamity that turned even spaceships into stardust, the chance of Brother Pei surviving was virtually zero.
Yet, deep within his heart, there was a glimmer of hope. If they hadn’t found Brother Pei’s body, he might still be alive. Was it possible that these conspirators had abducted Brother Pei?
Si Huaixi desperately wished that they had taken Brother Pei, threatening and forcing him to do whatever they wanted, as long as he was still alive…
But even they said Brother Pei was dead…
Was he really dead?
Si Huaixi refused to believe it.
Once again, he used his spiritual power to compel Eddie Claude to speak the truth.
“Where is he hiding?” Si Huaixi’s eyes filled with boundless ferocity.
Eddie Claude trembled, his lips trembling. The words that came out made him wish he could slap himself.
“He’s dead! Pei Zhaozhou is finally dead! He can’t possibly be alive. Not even a trace of his body remains!”
Si Huaixi’s eyes turned bloodshot, his pale face growing angrier, a flush of red creeping in.
He was on the verge of madness!
He believed that Brother Pei was still alive, but all the people, all the clues, all the truths pointed to Brother Pei’s death!
Dead, gone!
…
Accompanied by an overwhelming surge of furious spiritual power, the space felt oppressive.
A crackling sound.
Bones snapped sharply.
Eddie Claude suddenly struggled to breathe, a bone in his throat blocking his airway.
His face turned oxygen-deprived red, his throat constricting, desperately scratching at his neck, but he couldn’t touch anything, as if something invisible had clamped his throat shut.
In excruciating pain, he opened his mouth, his tongue sticking out as he tried to breathe, collapsing to the ground, kicking and flailing his legs, his dilated pupils fixed on the man standing beside him, coldly observing.
— Monster, he’s a monster!
He was going to die—going to die—
Eddie Claude’s pupils dilated lifelessly, blood streaming from his eyes, nose, lips, and ears, his internal organs crushed, a rotting stench filling the air. He lay on the ground, resembling a living corpse.
But in the end, he managed to stand up.
As if he had lost his memory, he casually wiped away the bloodstains from his lips, swaying unsteadily as he departed.
Si Huaixi let him go, a trace of dark madness crossing his deep, melancholic eyes.
He could kill these people, but more than killing them, he wanted them to endure endless torment, taste the hellish suffering in the mortal world!
