Chapter 302 I Don't Bend To Others' Expectations

Villain Ch 302. I Don't Bend to Others' Expectations

Elio's determination was etched across his face as he swiftly made his way to his motorcycle, adrenaline coursing through his veins. He secured his helmet firmly in place. As he adjusted his helmet, his eyes never left Allen, who was doing the same with his own motorcycle.

Both men leaned forward on their bikes, their bodies tensed with anticipation. They were poised to unleash the full power of their machines, ready to prove themselves in this race that held so much significance.

With a synchronized movement, they started their engines, and the roar of motorbikes reverberated through the air, drowning out any other sounds. The powerful engines shouted their readiness, a battle cry for the challenge that lay ahead.

The coin glinted in Elio's hand, a small metallic disc that held the weight of their competition. He tossed it into the air with a practiced motion, its trajectory dancing with the promise of an uncertain outcome. As the coin soared upward, time seemed to momentarily freeze, the suspense of the race encapsulated in that fleeting moment.

- Clink!

The tinkling sound of the coin hitting the ground was the signal they had been waiting for, and it ignited a burst of action. Elio wasted no time, immediately spurring his motorbike into motion. The engine roared to life, and he accelerated with determination, pushing his machine to its limits. The wind whipped against his body, but he was too focused on the race ahead to feel the chill.

But Allen had a different reaction. He remained rooted in his spot, seemingly unfazed by the race unfolding before him. Instead, a smug smirk played on his lips as he observed Elio's motorbike zooming ahead. His eyes followed Elio's every move.

"What makes you think I will waste my energy for someone who doesn't deserve it?" Allen muttered sarcastically, almost as if he was talking to himself. His recent breakup with Sophia had left him with a newfound perspective on relationships and priorities. He realized that he shouldn't be putting his energy into someone who doesn't appreciate it or doesn't reciprocate his feelings.

Allen knew that he had to focus on himself, on what he wanted, and on what he believed was worth fighting for. He couldn't let anyone else dictate his actions or emotions. His heart had been bruised, and he was done bending to others' expectations.

Besides, this race's prize held no appeal for him. Winning or losing wouldn't change his self-worth or prove anything to anyone. Participating in this race would be the same as playing into Sophia's hands. If he agreed to Elio's challenge, it would be like admitting that Sophia had the power to manipulate him through Elio. It would be giving her the satisfaction of knowing that her actions still had a hold on him. He wouldn't let Sophia have that satisfaction. He wouldn't participate in playing childish games just to prove a point.

Elio's heart pounded in his chest as he sped ahead, his eyes scanning left and right, searching for any sign of Allen. But to his surprise and frustration, there was no sign of his rival anywhere. It was as if Allen had vanished into thin air.

With a mix of confusion and annoyance, Elio brought his motorbike to a screeching halt. He turned around, his eyes narrowing as he spotted Allen in the distance. There he was, still standing at the starting line, showing no interest in moving forward.

"What the heck is he doing?" Elio muttered to himself, unable to comprehend Allen's actions. Was he trying to play mind games with him? Whatever the reason, Elio couldn't let this slide. He was thirsty for victory, and he wasn't about to let Allen get in his way.

But to Elio's surprise, something unexpected happened. Allen raised his hand high, displaying his middle finger like a defiant farewell. Elio's eyes widened in disbelief. Was this some kind of sick joke?

Before Elio could react, Allen's motorbike roared to life as he made a swift U-turn, heading back in the opposite direction. It was a bold declaration, a clear message to Elio that he had been played like a fiddle. A mischievous grin spread across Allen's face as he revved the engine, feeling a sense of satisfaction wash over him.

"That fucking bastard!" Elio spat, the irritation boiling in his chest. He felt like he had been played, like a pawn in Allen's little game. And the worst part was that he knew he couldn't catch up to him now, no matter how hard he tried. Allen had slipped away like a wily fox, leaving Elio in the dust.

"Argh!" Elio grunted, trying to vent the pent-up annoyance, but it seemed like the irritation was here to stay. He couldn't shake off the feeling of being outsmarted, of being left in the lurch. Allen's actions were like a slap to the face, and Elio couldn't help but take it personally.

Elio's motorbike roared back to life. He couldn't shake off the lingering annoyance from his encounter with Allen. It was like a pesky gnat buzzing around his head, refusing to go away. But just as he was about to push his frustrations aside and focus on the road ahead, the familiar sound of his phone's ringtone filled the air.

Startled, Elio reached for his phone and checked the messages. His eyes widened in surprise when he saw that they were from Sophia. His heart skipped a beat as he eagerly opened the messages, wondering what she had to say.

Sophia: Hey. I just want to say I am very grateful for all your help and attention. I'm sorry I pushed you away, but I really need my space. I already feel better now. So as a thank you, I thought of inviting you to hang out at the club tonight after our usual hunt. Think of it as my celebration since the agency liked my illustration and plans to recruit me permanently.

Sophia: Also, I have arrived at my apartment safely. Thank you for your concern. *Smiling emoji*

Elio's heart swelled with warmth at Sophia's message. He was relieved to know that she was okay and that she appreciated his support. Her words were like a soothing balm for his bruised ego, and he couldn't help but feel a sense of happiness wash over him.

He realized that Allen's harsh words must have deeply affected Sophia, and she needed some time and space to process everything. But the fact that she reached out to him now, with an invitation no less, made Elio feel like he was doing something right.

With a grin on his face, Elio quickly typed his reply, eager to accept Sophia's invitation and spend some time with her.

Elio: Of course. Just tell me when. I will pick you up.
