Chapter 1892 Clash of the Titans [21]
The darkness faded long ago. The setting was currently something like the Void in that both the Sacred Abyss and the True Void could be seen in the background. The incarnation of envy's body moved disgustingly as the Dark God tried his best to damage Damien, but it truly was no longer possible.
His body was already at that point. It would only take a little while longer for him to completely reach it. "This will not happen."
The Dark God was speaking clearly for the first time. He was no longer entertaining his inner monologue or his twisted perspective of the world. The aura around his enemy's body continued to change. It was not becoming closer to the Worldwalker, but more and more definitively that of an existence called "Damien Void."
He understood what this meant. For anyone else, the opposite would be perceived. Damien was fading into the background and becoming one with the unimaginable. He himself was becoming Void. However, the Dark God was at the level just below him. What he saw was a being who was becoming defined in a way that could not be understood. Damien was truly becoming an "individual."
In any timeline, in any reality, in any space, in any dimension, he was the same person.
Regardless of whether he was born in the True Void Universe or another cosmos somewhere in the middle of nowhere, if a potential Damien existed in the folds of the Void, it became a part of him.
This was the effect of transcending space, time, and dimension entirely. Damien was now independent of Existence and Nonexistence. "You...you have..."
Damien could not hear him, but the Dark God addressed him directly.
"How did you reach that place?"
It was the same boundary he had been aiming for. How could he not recognize it?
The incarnation of envy trembled. The basis of its existence was a delusional belief that it was always right. To validate the Dark God's path, delusion was a necessity. The moment Damien achieved something that broke his delusion, everything else shattered alongside it.
"I will never..."
He mumbled to himself unintelligibly. In the end, his meaning could only be perceived. "It was never meant to be me."
The realization broke him.
"Why does the Abyss hate me so?! What have I ever done?! Why was I forced to live such a miserable life?!"
He was no longer speaking to Damien. His countless eyes were directed at the sky along with his millions of hands. He pleaded to the entity above all, unresigned to his fate.
"My fate...yes, my fate was always scorned. When all things fade, even you are my enemy."
His eyes opened wide as he raged at the Void.
"He is the one you have chosen, I see. Then, I must be the reason you are ruined."
If the Void was going to be his enemy, then he would treat it as such. He knew it was impossible to destroy it. The Void was an entity that could neither be created nor destroyed.
However, he witnessed its love for Damien. In reality and in Damien's own memories, it was always guiding his path.
Therefore, if he wanted to ruin the Void, then all he needed to do was ruin Damien.
Naturally, Damien could not hear him. From the moment his body became impervious, his focus shifted to the unbelievable change taking place in his being. He did so because he was confident that the Dark God could not harm him, and that confidence was not unwarranted.
Were those words worthy of being the last before all Existence was destroyed?
As they were spoken, the Dark God's body reached a tipping point and became pure energy. The explosion that was bound to leave the two cosmos as no more than ash particles in the Void started, but for some reason, Damien's voice was louder.
What was meant to be a grand scene was ruined by one person.
Without a sound, without a trace, and without a show, Damien reached that point.
His energies combined, and he became a person above everything.
He could feel it in his body. Nothing mattered if he didn't want it to. Now, even the Dark God held the same value as a common frog.
As long as he desired it...
"Hush."
The white light that spread so rapidly that it covered the entire Sacred Abyss in an instant disappeared just as rapidly. It did not touch the Sacred Abyss. It did not touch the True Void. It did not spread further than the Dark God's body.
Rather than a massive sound that came from the rupturing of countless celestial bodies, what came about was a small "Splat!" as the Dark God himself was blown to pieces.
Damien was not looking at him. He had no need to. He was now seeing "everything."
The incarnation of envy disappeared and died so simply that it was hard to imagine that it ever held any power. The Dark God died in that moment, but Damien was not finished.
His gaze turned to a certain direction. The cosmos itself pulled a small knob of flesh towards him. Space and time twisted, preventing its escape.
As if it was always fated to be there, the entity appeared in Damien's hand.
It was squirming wildly and trying to escape. Its small and twisted face growled menacingly to curse him, but he paid it no mind.
"Goodbye."
This being was once his ancestral uncle. In another timeline, they could have become close friends. He saw the possibility in the myriad Existences, but it was just too slim.
In all but one future, he chose envy.
Such a being did not deserve to exist in this world, and no longer would after this moment. It was a quiet and uneventful day, or so it seemed as one observed Damien.
He accomplished something great. He killed the great enemy of his cosmos and even ascended and became Absolute. It should have been a much grander occasion than this, but Damien's face and mind did not show such emotions.
No, in but a moment, his entire mentality changed. His view changed to that of an Absolute, therefore robbing all things of meaning.
Whether it was the Dark God or an ant on the side of the street, whether it was the Dark God or any other villain he had ever encountered, Damien now saw them all in the same light.
Such was the fate of a man who surpassed any and all things, both existing and nonexistent.
