93 YIN AND YANG
The conversation between Bai Chen and Bai Renshu didn’t last long as the opening ceremony of the Beast Hunting Event was about to begin. Bai Renshu had walked away from him, but Bai Chen still felt intimidated by the Crown Prince.
He knew that Bai Renshu would be participating in the hunting event as well, so the two would be in the Forbidden Forest for a few days.
If Bai Renshu wanted to kill him, then it wouldn’t be difficult because the two of them would be in a dangerous forest. People would probably not know if the Crown Prince killed him, and the older man would probably just say that he was killed by a beast or something.
Bai Chen could see the possibility, and that was why he was so nervous as he waited for the Emperor to start the opening ceremony.
All the participants were standing in line in the palace courtyard, and Bai Chen could see how the Emperor was standing on the stairs in front of the Zuigao Hall with someone on his right.
When Bai Chen’s blue eyes turned to the figure next to Emperor Bai Guowei, he received a notification from the system.

A NEW CHARACTER WAS DETECTED:
NAME: WU RONG, COURTESY NAME: WU SHUN
.....
AGE: 52
ROLE: THE EMPEROR OF WU LI EMPIRE}
Bai Chen often heard about the human empire, and once Ma Qiao mentioned that the name of the empire was Wu Li.
Just like the Dong Lang Empire where the rulers were always named ‘Bai,’ the rulers in the Wu Li Empire were always named ‘Wu.’
He had indeed known about the empire before today, but only now had he seen the Emperor of Wu Li. From the information he got from the system, he knew that Bai Guowei was the same age as Wu Shun, and he could see that the two of them were indeed the same age when they stood side by side.
“On this sunny day, we will celebrate the day when the peace treaty between werewolves and humans was signed by Dong Lang and the Wu Li Empire,” Bai Guowei began his speech to open the ceremony. “For many years, werewolves and humans lived in peace, but werewolves and humans have always looked forward to the time when we could hunt the beasts in the Forbidden Forest together.”
Bai Guowei proudly said that werewolves and humans were looking forward to the event, but Bai Chen wanted to say that they had better exclude him from the group.
He wasn’t looking forward to the event at all, and all he wanted to do was go back to his palace and sleep all day instead of risking his life on the event.
But he knew that he wouldn’t even be able to dream of the moment when he could rest in his palace, and he could only sigh as he continued to listen to the Emperor’s speech.
“The Beast Hunting Event is our annual event, so the rules in the event will remain the same as last year,” Bai Guowei continued his speech. “The event is individual, and even if it is a friendly event between the werewolves and the humans, it will still be a competition between individuals. During three days and two nights in the Forbidden Forest, all participants have to kill as many beasts as they can, and the one who can kill the most beasts will come out as a winner.”
Bai Chen had never liked competition, and he just stared at the Emperor dryly after hearing the explanation. In his previous life, he was bad at any sports, so he had never participated in any events.
He still couldn’t believe that he had to participate in a dangerous event related to beasts when he couldn’t even kick a ball properly in his previous life. Sure enough, it was like Bai Chen was offering himself to the beasts in the Forbidden Forest.
“And to make it fair between werewolves and humans, werewolves cannot change into their wolf form during the event, and they can only fight with their swords like how humans would also fight the beasts,” Bai Guowei continued his speech, and the participants didn’t seem surprised to hear that because they had known the rules beforehand.
Bai Chen also knew the rules before today, and he could only stare grimly at the sword in his hand. As Bai Renshu said earlier, his sword was like a toy, and he probably wouldn’t be able to injure a beast with the sword.
“Oh, looks like I forgot about the prize,” Emperor Bai Guowei spoke again as if he had just remembered one important thing. “There is always a prize for the winner of the Beast Hunting Event, and the prize will be different every year. For this year’s prize, I will personally offer my collection as the grand prize. The one who manages to kill most of the beasts will be able to get the famous Chanrao sword from me.”
It seemed that the participants became even more excited after hearing about the prize they could win after the event ended.
The Chanrao owned by Bai Guowei was quite famous in both empires. It was a curved sword sharpened on one side, and the curved blade allowed the wielder to disarm and finish off their opponent in a few moves.
The sword was also lightweight, and it seemed that many people dreamed of putting their hands on it.
Bai Chen, who knew nothing about swords, could only tilt his head without showing any interest on his face.
Thankfully, the Emperor didn’t see his stupid expression as the man only focused on the expressions on the other participants’ faces, and he smirked in satisfaction before speaking again, “I think I’ve said what I need to say, and now is the time for the Emperor of Wu Li to give his speech.”
Bai Chen looked at the stairs again when he heard Bai Guowei say something while looking at the other Emperor standing beside him.
Bai Guowei and Wu Shun were of the same age, but for some reason, Bai Chen could sense the different auras between the two rulers.
While Bai Guowei looked so stern and arrogant, Wu Shun looked calmer and more friendly than the other Emperor. When the two Emperors stood side by side on the stairs, Bai Chen thought that the two of them were like Yin and Yang.
“The last time I visited Dong Lang was last year, but I’m very happy that I was able to visit this empire again today,” Wu Shun began his speech. “When I was young, I was never absent from the Beast Hunting Event, but since I’m old now, I can’t take part in this event anymore. That’s the reason why I sent my eldest son to participate in this event. I hope he can do his best by killing all the beasts in the Forbidden Forest.”
Bai Chen frowned when he heard the Emperor’s statement. He was new to this world, and he knew nothing about the Emperor’s first son.
???????????????? ???????????????????????????? ???????????????????????? ???????????????????? ???????? ????????????????????-????????????.????????????
‘He said that it was his eldest son who would be participating in the event, so it must be the Crown Prince of Wu Li, right? Just as Bai Renshu was also willing to participate in this dangerous event, the Crown Prince of Wu Li must also be strong,’ he thought to himself.
He didn’t understand why those high-status people would still want to participate in an event that could kill them at any moment. He only participated in the event because of the system, and if he had any other choice, he would definitely not join the event.
Bai Chen complained once more, but then he realized that the two Emperors had finished their speeches, and the two of them had already left the top of the stairs.
Other participants dispersed from the palace grounds as they prepared to depart for the Forbidden Forest, but Bai Chen’s feet were still nailed to the ground.
He knew from Ma Qiao that the Forbidden Forest was closer to Dong Lang, and that was why the opening ceremony was held at Dong Lang, not at Wu Li.
He knew about that, but he still wasn’t ready to go to the Forbidden Forest right now. Ma Qiao had left him too, so he was now alone as he stared blankly into the void.
And then he gasped when he felt a light tap on his shoulder. When he turned around and his blue eyes saw a man in black standing behind him, he got a notification from the system.

A NEW CHARACTER WAS DETECTED:
NAME: SHAO YAOTING
AGE: 50
ROLE: THE HEAD OF THE BLACK WEREWOLF CLAN}
The system in Bai Chen’s head revealed several new characters today, but Bai Chen was most surprised by the newest character that the system had just disclosed.
‘So, this man is going to be my father-in-law?’ He wondered as he continued to stare at the man wearing black.
