255 TAKE THE CRYSTAL BACK
Wu Jinhai did kiss him, and Bai Chen didn’t try to break away from the kiss. Instead, he carefully wrapped his arms around the man’s neck as he responded to the sweet kiss.
It was indeed a sweet kiss initiated by the man in red when he didn’t even try to involve his tongue in the kiss. Only their lips greeted each other lovingly, and that was why Bai Chen didn’t feel pressured by the kiss.
And the kiss didn’t last long either as Wu Jinhai carefully pulled his head away from Bai Chen, and his pair of brown eyes stared intently at the man still lying on his lap. “Do you remember when I asked you to kiss my forehead before you finally found out the truth about my identity, ChenChen?”
Suddenly, Wu Jinhai used the nickname to address Bai Chen, and the Werewolf Prince felt several ripples move in his chest right after the nickname pierced his senses of hearing.
The boy who appeared in his memory also called him by that nickname, and even if years had passed and the boy’s voice sounded deeper, he could somehow see the resemblance of the tone used by two people who were actually one person.
Before today, he had Indeed heard how Zhu Ge used to tease him using that nickname, but the carefree tone used by the man did not sound the same as how Wu Jinhai addressed him just now, and that was why he knew that the man who was still holding him in his arms was trying to reconstruct the moments that happened years ago when he sweetly called his nickname.
It wasn’t actually his nickname because it belonged to the real Bai Chen in this world, but he somehow felt how the sun suddenly rose in his heart and brought warmth there as if to show that he cherished the moment when Wu Jinhai called him by that nickname.
Bai Chen smiled slightly after hearing Wu Jinhai’s words, and he once again moved his left hand before landing it on the human’s forehead. Perhaps it wasn’t entirely right when he said that Wu Jinhai was a human when it was clear in his eyes that the man had golden scales on his forehead. Indeed, Wu Jinhai was no longer a normal human, but Bai Chen didn’t think much of it.
“May I kiss your forehead again, little boy?” Bai Chen asked instead of answering, and he gently used his finger to touch the golden scales once more.
.....
Hearing the question, Wu Jinhai suddenly snorted before replying, “You call me that after learning that your mother used to call me by that nickname?”
That was a fact. Before Bai Chen could finally open his eyes to find Wu Jinhai embracing his shoulder, he could hear how Tang Yanmei called little Wu Jinhai using the nickname “little boy,” and now it seemed like Bai Chen wanted to imitate what that woman did many years ago.
“You don’t like hearing me call you by that nickname? Would you prefer if I called you Wu Jiang?”
“...” Wu Jinhai did not immediately answer this time.
Bai Chen remembered how the boy who had gauze covering his forehead introduced himself as Wu Jiang in front of Tang Yanmei. Bai Chen was not stupid, nor was he a forgetful person, and that was why he still remembered that Wu Jiang was Wu Jinhai’s birth name before the man finally received a courtesy name.
That was why Bai Chen could easily conclude that the boy in his memory was none other than Wu Jinhai, and the boy used gauze to cover his forehead must be because he had golden scales on his forehead which made him different from normal humans.
Bai Chen was convinced of his theory, but before getting an answer from the black-haired man, the man suddenly grabbed his hand that was still touching the man’s forehead before bringing it close to his lips. Gently, Wu Jinhai pressed his lips on the back of Bai Chen’s hand, and the owner of the hand froze.
“You can call me whatever you like. I don’t mind,” Wu Jinhai finally replied. “And if you’re not sick of the ugly scales on my forehead, then it would be an honor for me if you would kiss it.”
The way Wu Jinhai treated him so gently was new to Bai Chen. Zhu Ge used to treat him without respect while the normal Wu Jinhai used to treat him coldly. However, the person who was still hugging him looked very different from the two versions, and that was why Bai Chen thought that he wasn’t ready for the difference yet.
Nonetheless, one thing in Wu Jinhai’s sentence managed to tickle his conscience, and without replying to the man’s words, Bai Chen brought his head to rise from the man’s lap before bringing his face close to Wu Jinhai’s. Without a hint of disgust, the Werewolf Prince pressed his lips to the golden scales on Wu Jinhai’s forehead.
“Stop saying that the golden scales are disgusting or ugly,” Bai Chen rebuked the taller man after he pulled his face slightly so that there was an inch of space between the two of them. “I told you that the scales are beautiful, right? You have to remember that, and I’ll be mad at you if you again say that the scales are disgusting.”
Bai Chen didn’t expect that he could also be cheesy, and that was why he tried so hard not to vomit after he finished saying a statement to comfort Wu Jinhai. Maybe he did try to comfort the man, but he was actually sincere in his opinion about the golden scales.
And maybe the way he tried to comfort the black-haired man worked because the man finally smiled before saying, “I’ve shown you what happened years ago when you fainted after accidentally giving your Power Crystal to me, and maybe now is the time for you to take back the crystal so you can become stronger, right?”
