It’s been five days since we found those guys, and we’ve been doing our best fighting monsters under the leadership of commander Sera.
How did this happen? We encountered a group of goblins and Sera mowed them down like they were nothing.
There’s a clear difference in levels, and Sera is definitely strong, but some are even calling her big sister out of respect. She seems kind of annoyed by that.
Others don’t look too happy about this arrangement, but don’t say anything either.
We’ve been looking for survivors, while Map is being filled out. We picked up two more people along the way, meaning there are fourteen of us now.
Where do I stand among all this? Am I the cook?
Someone said ‘leave it to me’ one time, and so I did, but Hikari was very upset.
You’re wasting ingredients, it doesn’t taste good, she said. She stood and watched with her arms crossed until they ate everything they ruined.
It was quite a sight to see some of them swallowing that food with water welling up in their eyes. Of course, the four of us just ate what I made.
After Hikari asked me to just cook for them too and they tasted it, they never asked to cook again. Oh well, I’m eating too, so I’d also rather have good food.
Mia has been practicing her Holy Arrow on the monsters we’ve been encountering, but despair painted their faces when she first did it. Get it now? That’s where Mia stands in terms of power. You’re the ones who had weird expectations and troubled her for no reason.
From that point forward, I’ve been seeing Fred and the others give her advice when they have the time.
“Master, are we heading to where the staircase to the sixth floor is?”
“Yes Sera. We should at least check how it is.”
Maybe casting Appraisal will tell me something.
“But what do you plan to do in the end? If you want me to fight, I will.”
“If we have no other option, we’ll have to fight. I don’t intend to rot away down here either.”
“I feel like we could easily spend a long time here if you’re around.”
We’re the only ones here now, because Fred and the others are taking turns keeping watch and resting a little far away.
“The problem is whether or not your weapons will damage it. Maybe we can count on Mia but… Worst case scenario, I’ll do my best too.”
Hikari looks concerned. She knows I don’t want to draw attention to myself like that. Maybe I should come up with excuses.
Mia on the other hand is smiling. Why?
“I’m just thinking that you’re nice. You keep saying I’m too soft, but the same goes for you, Sora.”
Really? I think you’re way off the mark. I’m just looking out for myself.
Also, we’re locked here in a boss room. There’s not much we can do.
“If we do fight, should we do it in an open area? Or would the forest be better?”
“Both have merits and demerits. An open area would make it easier for me to fight, but harder for Mia to aim. The forest is the opposite.”
“It brings wolves with it, so a field or a plain should be better than a forest. By the way, we’ve been defeating monsters in the dungeon, but when’s the next repop? When will new monsters appear?”
“I don’t know much about dungeons either. You should probably ask them.”
“You’re right, I’ll ask tomorrow. Let’s rest too. We’ll be walking again tomorrow.”
I lay down, and after confirming that the other three are asleep, I check my stats.

I don’t pick any new skills.
I take out a spare sword from the Item Box to infuse it with magic, Holy Magic to be precise. Now I have a sort of fake holy sword, but it took quite a bit of magic energy.
Then I cast Appraisal to check it.
Defective holy sword Lv1 (holy element attached) – Effect (sword infused with holy element. Durability 1. Will break after one swing.)
So I only get one shot with it. And I need to swing it while infusing it with magic energy.
But still, this durability. This is a normal sword you’d buy in a normal store, and while I’ve used a sword infused with magic energy, this is the first time I’ve infused one with an effect. So does that mean infusing weapons with magic makes them easier to break? I’m going to need to investigate further when I can.
If I can’t take it down with this, should I just give up on it and just use a gun? I could pass it off as a magic item. I can’t pretend I can’t use magic itself once they see me using it.
However, Leila will probably ask all sorts of questions if she hears about this. I already passed it off as a family heirloom before.
I told Fred the guild would probably take measures, but I don’t actually believe we can count on that. If there was a way for people to enter boss rooms, they’d be coming and going all they wanted. Once someone found out about something like that, rumors would spread quickly.
And if nothing like that has ever happened… Unless the guild tightened security to the point where it wouldn’t even need to be a secret.
We’ve really gotten ourselves into a lot of trouble, I think as I wrap myself in a sheet and go to sleep. Even then, I can’t relax too much.
