‘The fog was dense on Dosu Star, blocking vision as well as their Holy Senses. Other forces of perception were bound too.
Su Mo and the gang trod through the fog, looking for the Dosu Tree.
“Hey, where’s the Dosu Tree?” Su Mo asked the group.
“Wu Shan, the Dosu Tree is extremely intelligent. It cannot leave Dosu Star, but it can move freely, so it doesn’t have a fixed location,” said Quan Ruhai.
“see!” Su Mo said in acknowledgement. It seemed that looking for the tree would not be a simple task.
If they found the Dosu Tree, they could take the Dosu Fruit. Only the first who found the Tree could get more Fruits, or at least choose the ones they needed.
And so, the group began their search on Dosu Star.
After searching for half an hour, apart from meeting a few other disciples from other branches, they did not find the Dosu Tree.
Dosu Star was relatively small compared to the Palmy Star, but that did not mean Dosu Star was small. In fact, Dosu Star would have been considered a medium-sized star in the Wasteland.
Su Mo and Ling Chang exchanged glances and thoughts.
Then, he turned to face the group and said, “You guys, Senior Xuan Qing and I will continue as a team. This is where we part.”
It was not sensible to act with these people tagging along. It would be more convenient if he were left alone with Ling Chang.
The main thing was that the dense fog everywhere on Dosu Star hindered their sight and Holy Senses.
But the fog was made up of Source Energy of various properties which, for Su Mo, meant that he could swallow them easily, thereby canceling the obstruction.
“Are we splitting up?” Quan Ruhai looked slightly distressed but soon proposed, “Wu Shan, Junior Xuan Qing, the three of us should go together. You know, to look out for one another.”
He had come here mainly to bond with Xuan Qing, how could they split up?
“A-Alright!” Su Mo hesitated but nodded anyway. He could not refuse him, so he let him have his way.
Moreover, Quan Ruhai might not have been in the same boat as them, but at least they were not rivals fighting for the Dosu Fruit.
“Fine, you three go ahead!”
“Goodbye then, be careful!”
“Take care!”
The others spoke. They were unsure why Su Mo and Ling Chang wanted to separate from them, but since they requested it, they would not stop them.
“Farewell!” Su Mo greeted them with his fists balled together, before signaling for Quan Ruhai and Ling Chang to move on.
The two followed Su Mo.
The trio flew through the dense fog quickly, looking for the Dosu Tree.
He released his Holy Senses and perception, but they could only extend a distance of a few thousand feet at most. It was like trying to find a needle in a haystack.
“Junior Xuan Qing, the chances are slim if we want to find the Dosu Tree first, but once the others have found it there’ll be a great fuss, so we just have to move forward when we sense movement,” Quan Ruhai spoke as he flew right next to Ling Chang.
“Right!” Ling Chang nodded lightly.
“We descend!” Su Mo suddenly exclaimed as he pointed downwards. There was a small hill, several feet high.
“Wu Shan, what’s this about?” Quan Ruhai asked doubtfully as the three landed on the landmark.
Ling Chang looked calm and did not ask. The coldness in her eyes meant she had sensed something. She knew what Su Mo was planning to do.
“Tm going to devour the fog here, and it’ll trigger fluctuations in the Source Energy around this large area. You two should just keep looking for the Dosu Fruit,” Su Mo explained.
“Devour the fog?” Quan Ruhai said, surprised. He knew Su Mo could initiate a powerful devouring skill, but he did not know he could devour the fog.
“That’s right!” Su Mo nodded. With nothing more to add, he began to trigger his Devouring Power.
Soon, the mighty Devouring Power poured out in all directions, the fog spreading thousands of miles boiled all over, surging wildly towards Su Mo.
But Su Mo would not absorb the fog into his body for refinement because its content was too complicated. It was simply a turbulent flow of Source Energy made up of various properties.
“Not here!”
“I don’t see the Dosu Tree!”
Quan Ruhai and Ling Chang spoke simultaneously. The wild surging fog allowed them to observe their general situation within thousands of miles.
The Dosu Tree was huge. If it were nearby it would have made some noise.
They had only found hundreds of disciples within thousands of miles, but no traces of the Dosu Tree.
“Go, keep moving!” Su Mo got up and continued the flight. He worked effortlessly, because he wanted to be the first to find the Dosu Tree and get the Dosu Fruit containing the Life and Death Rule.
However, after the three of them left, they did not notice a young man in a blood-red robe coming out of the thick fog. He was Ge Li.
“This will become a problem!”
Looking in the direction in which the three of them were leaving, Ge Li remained expressionless as he murmured to himself. He was under orders from Reverend Tianjue and Ye Jin to get rid of Wu Shan.
But Ye Jin had clearly told him to take out Wu Shan only, and spare the other two.
Moreover, Ye Jin’s original words were that his actions should not involve Reverend Tianjue. The best way to do it was to kill Wu Shan when no one was watching or to take the alternative route and kill him by ‘manslaughter’ while fighting for the Dosu Fruit.
Wu Shan was currently with Xuan Qing and Quan Ruhai, making it difficult for him to attack.
Also, he knew Quan Ruhai. The man was quite skilled. It would be troublesome if the man intervened, because he was not supposed to kill him.
After a pause, Ge Li hid himself in the fog and pursued the trio.
He would follow them in secret while looking for the opportunity to kill. If he could not find one, he would take Wu Shan by force. It would be best if Quan Ruhai and Xuan Qing did not intervene; but if they did, he would have to be ruthless and kill them too.
$u Mo took Ling Chang and Quan Ruhai across the fog, stopping once in a while so he could trigger his Devouring Power and absorb the boundless mist in search for the Dosu Tree.
They came to a dense forest where the fog grew thicker.
$u Mo landed on an old tree and was about to trigger his Devouring Tree when something else happened.
The thick fog within ten miles of their surrounding suddenly surged and quickly condensed, turned into a giant claw and trapping the trio in the center.
“What’s this?” Su Mo paled, unsure of the situation.
It was then that the giant claw came crashing in, as though attempting to crush them.
“This is the Dosu Tree’s attack!” Quan Ruhai yelled and was about to strike.
But the mostly quiet Ling Chang beat him to it.
Swoosh!
A sharp blue sword energy struck out, instantly slashing the giant foggy claws.
Bang!
The claw bellowed as it disintegrated before transforming into boundless mist again.
“Brother Quan, where’s the Dosu Tree?” Su Mo’s eyes flashed like lightning as he surveyed the area. All around them were regular trees, but the Dosu Tree was still out of sight.
“Wu Shan, the Dosu Tree is extremely intelligent. It can control all the fog on Dosu Star and launch an attack even when it’s far away! “Quan Ruhai explained solemnly.
“Superb!” Su Mo said, surprised.
“That’s just the easiest form of attack. The Dosu Tree has many tricky moves, it’s nearly invincible. We should be on high alert, for we are low in numbers,” Quan Ruhai added.
They had been attacked even before they had found the Tree. It would not be easy to extract the Dosu Fruit.
They searched nearby before moving on.
“Someone’s following us!” During their flight, the gentle voice of Ling Chang’s divine thoughts suddenly drifted into the two men’s ears.
“Oh?” Su Mo squinted when he heard it. He had not realized they were being followed.
But he believed Ling Chang. She must have detected something.
“What?” Quan Ruhai paled slightly. His divine thoughts scanned everywhere around them but found no traces.
“Junior Xuan Qing, I don’t think there’s anyone!” Quan Ruhai transmitted his message.
“Ican’t be wrong, The fog’s awfully thick here. It’s all made up of complex Source Energy, so it limits by perception. I also can’t tell where his exact position is,” Ling Chang responded solemnly as well.
‘When the foggy claw shattered, when the area had been hit by a huge wave, she detected the aura of a martial artist, if only for a brief moment.
The man was hidden in the dense, endless mist. His motive remained unknown..
