Chapter 174 - I lost my eyes again

"Eye drops…" He replied as he removed the cap of the bottle and shifted closer to her face, "This medicine is really good for strained and irritated eyes. I and Wang Shi are both using this for a long time."

Hearing this, her toes curled up in tension. Biting her lips she alternated her gaze between the medicine bottle and Feng Jianyu.

Being sensitive to her emotions he understood that she got scared. Gently caressing her cheeks he coaxed her, "It's just a soothing medicine and doesn't sting at all. I will never use anything on you that can cause even a tiny ounce of discomfort to you."

"F-Feng Jianyu….."

"But if you are not comfortable, I'm not using it….." Before he could put aside the medicine she stopped him holding his hand. "I trust you…"

Unknown to Xiu Mei, these three words struck the deepest chord of his heart and echoed in his mind a thousand times. She trusts him… She trusts him….

Xiu Mei forced a smile on her face, still a little afraid, "Let me try this medicine for once, it might benefit my tired eyes"

"Are you sure?"

"Yes…"

Her eyelashes tremble violently as he pries open her eyes to drop the medicine. Then her eyelids tightly shut itself feeling a strange sensation and a tear like silver, glistened in the corner of her eyes, ready to roll down.

"Hey… you okay?" He held up tissue to wipe her tears and she nodded in response.

"Is it stinging?"

She shook her head in response.

Holding her hand in his large ones, he kept on talking to her to make her feel his presence.

It's been almost a minute when he realized that the tears are not stopping to come out from her eyes. "Mei…" He was in a complete panic when the tears won't stop.

"It's hurting…." Her eyes tightly shut, her skin turned pale and her body trembled in fear. She does not like this stinging pain; it has brought back the old memories, making her feel suffocated in the chest. She raised her hand to rub her eyes off of the pain but he tightly clasped her hand, stopping her to harm her eyes more.

Feng Jianyu felt as if his heart was ripped into a million pieces. He couldn't fathom what was happening. Why is she saying that it's hurting?

"My eyes… Don't… Jianyu help"

"I'm here" He immediately leaned over to prop her up from bed and take her in his arms.

"This is stinging… Get it off" she was clenching on to his clothes so tightly, her knuckles have turned white. Frantically crying and shouting she urged him constantly to get the medicine off of her eyes. "I don't like this medicine." There were drops of cold sweat on her forehead and her body trembled from her constant cries. Her tears quickly dampened his clothes along with her own.

"Water… Let me wash my eyes. I don't want to lose them again" She whimpered, struggling, waving her hands in the air to get some water. "It's stinging…Ahhhhh"

Feng Jianyu felt as though a knife was stabbed in his heart. He gently patted her back to comfort her but all in vain. The more he tried to comfort her the more she struggles. "Shh….Mei… Relax!"

Promptly he picked the glass of water from the bed table and brought it near her lips, but she grabbed the glass and started washing her eyes with trembling hands.

Watching her reaction, he double checked the medicine bottle, thinking if this medicine has caused any reaction to her.

"Ahhh…. It still hurts. What if I lost them again?" She screamed. In a panic the glass dropped from her hand and shattered into pieces, causing a cut on Feng Jianyu's foot. But he did not dare to move an inch, but instead order the voice system 'Zest', "Zest, order Feng Junjie to come here fast. It's an emergency."

Feng Junjie came within a minute running like a burst of wind when he heard it's an emergency. "What happen brother? What emergency…." The remaining words got stuck in his mouth looking at Xiu Mei's condition.

"Bro, what happen to Sister Mei Mei?"

"Ask Wang Shi to come here within 15 minutes and inform him to get an ophthalmologist with him. It's urgent"

"Bro, why ophthalmologist? "

"GO…."

Feng Junjie was so frightened that he scurried away from there immediately.

After instructing his brother Jianyu continued patting her back, "Don't cry anymore…. I've called the doctor…. Nothing will happen to your eyes…. I'm sorry I did this… I'm sorry I failed you again…"

"Love…" Gently rubbing his fingers over her closed eyelids he tried to comfort her but she turned her face away and cried out, "I lost my eyes again. How will I tell him that I didn't take care of his fiancee's eyes? I'm despicable…"
