66 Won’t Leave
“Lu Zhao, what’s wrong?” Luo Ying walked over and helped him up.
As soon as her hand touched Lu Zhao’s, she felt a cold and wet patch on her hand.
The wine on Lu Zhao’s hand had been mixed with red blood, and his hand was full of small wounds. Some of them had already formed scabs, and some seemed to have been torn open again after the scabs had formed.
Luo Ying felt the pain just looking at it.
“What’s wrong with you? What’s going on?” Luo Ying frowned as she looked at the broken wine bottle on the ground.
Had Lu Zhao smashed the wine bottle earlier?
“I had too much to drink and accidentally knocked it over. Then, I pressed my hand on it.” Lu Zhao wasn’t as cold and calm as usual. Instead, there were faint tears in his eyes.
He was acting like a boyfriend who was complaining to his girlfriend.
“Get up, I’ll help you bandage it.” Luo Ying reached out to pull Lu Zhao up.
But of course, she couldn’t move a man who almost stood two meters tall. After stumbling, she was pulled to the ground by Lu Zhao.
Lu Zhao didn’t let her fall to the ground. Instead, he used himself as a human cushion to catch Luo Ying and slowly put her on his lap.
He hugged her from behind.
It looked like an ordinary hug, but Luo Ying felt his arms and legs holding her with protective ferocity, not letting her leave.
“What’s wrong?” Luo Ying felt Lu Zhao’s vulnerability and asked softly. She did not struggle.
“Don’t leave me, okay?” Lu Zhao’s voice was soft, and his breath gushed into her ears. His voice was almost pleading.
“Don’t worry, I won’t leave you.”
Lu Zhao shook his head and leaned against Luo Ying’s shoulder like a child.
“Please, please don’t leave me. It wasn’t easy for you to come back. Don’t leave me.”
Luo Ying sighed in her heart.
The original Luo Ying had truly hurt Lu Zhao too many times before, and just one misunderstanding without any evidence seemed to be enough to make Lu Zhao defense collapse.
“You’re acting like this because you saw me go to the hospital, right?” Luo Ying said slowly.
The air was silent for a moment, and a small voice came from beside her. “Yes.”
“Why didn’t you just ask me about it?” Luo Ying asked.
“What?” Lu Zhao was a little confused.
“Ask me why I was at that same hospital as Lin Su.”
Lu Zhao didn’t reply and just leaned his head on her shoulder like a spoiled child.
“My father might have to undergo surgery soon, so I went to the hospital to help him settle down.,” Luo Ying said.
Like a child who had done something wrong, Lu Zhao lowered his head even more.
“I won’t leave you, don’t worry,” Luo Ying said.
Lu Zhao sighed. “I don’t know why, but I have a feeling that you’re going to leave me. You’re going to sneak away one night.”
“I won’t,” Luo Ying said.
She could feel Lu Zhao’s deep affection for the original Luo Ying.
If anything, these feelings should not be for her. They should be for the soul that had once been in this body.
Luo Ying almost broke down on the spot. Lu Zhao’s love for the original Luo Ying was as pure as storybooks get.
The original Luo Ying had betrayed him time and time again, even stealing his trade secrets and giving them to others. In spite of all that, he chose to forgive her.
When the original Luo Ying pulled a stunt that endangered her very own life to force the male protagonist to look at her, he finally lost hope.
After that, Lu Zhao sealed off his love and devoted all his energy to his career.
Under his management, Luya Group became one of the top companies in the world.
In the midst of all the success, Lu Zhao was never happy with himself.
He left his family in ruins and sought out the original Luo Ying, who didn’t treat him well at all. In the end, he naturally fell into a long period of loneliness and depression.
When she recalled the original plot, Luo Ying felt some resentment toward the author and original character.
She reached out and held Lu Zhao’s hand.
“Lu Zhao, you have to believe me. I won’t leave you,” Luo Ying said.
She said this not out of sympathy, nor was it to survive in this world.
She had truly fallen for him.
