Chapter 21 - The Morning After

Lisa came out of the room with a cheerful mood. She was really upset this morning. She missed her family very much. But the incident with Ruhan really made her mood cheerful.

She went to the drawing room to greet the elders. If it had been her home, she would have gone directly to dinning table to have breakfast. But alas! She was now in someone else's house. She had to follow some etiquettes. Specially when she was a newly wedded one.

Apart from Ruhan's mother and grandmother, there were also other relatives and Ruhan's cousins.

Lisa didn't know if it was her mere imagination, but she felt that the cousins were looking at her strangely. Some of them even giggled while the others exchanged glances.

Lisa frowned. Why were they behaving like this?

Whatever! Lisa decided to ignore them.

"Assalamu'Alaikum", Lisa greeted them all. She didn't know how to address them. So she didn't say anything else.

"Come here sweety", Mrs. Ahmer looked exceptionally happy today, " You didn't have to wake up this early today. You were tired yesterday. You should have slept in"

"Ha ha ha", the cousins laughed out loud. Lisa looked at them questioningly.

" Nothing", one of them tried to control his laughter, "Please continue ".

The lady Hitler, Ruhan's grandmother, who was silent all along, suddenly spoke, "New daughter-in-law, did you rest well yesterday? "

Lisa looked at her. She didn't have many impressions on her. But the reports said that she was very strict. So Lisa decided to be careful.

"Yes grandmother", Lisa said with a sweet voice. If Ruhan heard her voice right now, he would have vomited blood.

"Good. Today we have to do lots of things. You won't have time to rest properly",

Hearing this, Lisa really wanted to cry. Work? Really? She hadn't had her breakfast yet! Still they are talking about work! She really misses home.

Fortunately her mother in law still had some conscience. She immediately interrupted, " Mother, she hasn't had breakfast yet. We should wait"

"Go then", grandmother dismissed them.

Lisa sighed of relief. She didn't eat her fill at her wedding. She was starving now.

But she had to put on her act. She hesitated, "Aunty, Ruhan hasn't come yet".

Mrs. Ahmed waved her hand, " You don't have to wait for him. He often skips breakfast. You eat first."

"Yes sister in law.. Eat first. You must be very tired after yesterday's fight " a few voices said in unison and started giggling.

Lisa was startled! The cousin snuck here who knows when and started to laugh at her suggestively.

If she now didn't understand what they meant then she must be mentally retarded.

All of them were at least five years younger to her. Still they were teasingly her like this.

Mrs. Ahmed smiled and left the children alone.

Without any elder present, Lisa also didn't pretend anymore.

She grabbed the closest one and pinched her cheek, "You brat! Act according to your age. Did you eavesdrop last night? " Lisa glared at them.

Poor cousin stuck her tongue out and quickly ran away from her grasp. She then said, "Sister in law you really are good at fighting. A few minutes ago we saw brother Ruhan limping and massaging his waist", she winked her eyes. All of them laughed out loud.

Lisa was speechless. She never had this many cousins. The few of them were very well behaved and innocent. These group of brats was really an eye opener for her.

But..she didn't dislike it. She didn't feel like an outsider anymore.

She laughed and played along with them. She pretended to be angry and glared at them, " You..you guys stop teasing me or I will start to arrange marriages for you. I will introduce trashy partners to your parents ".

She was looking really adorable right now.

The cousins pretended to be scared, "have mercy Sister in law! We know our wrong. We will go bother brother Ruhan then", they giggled and ran off, possibly to annoy Ruhan.

After a while, Ruhan came to the dinning area. His face looked like the whole world owed him something.

He glared at her. "Don't you think this ends here", he gritted his teeth. "The humiliation I had to face today because of you, I will return to you with interests. " he humped and sat to have breakfast.

Lisa was too lazy to bother with him. She smiled and quickly had her breakfast.

Then went to the drawing room.

Grandmother and Ruhan's parents were discussing something seriously. Mrs. Ahmed seemed unhappy.

Lisa went to Mr. Ahmed and politely greeted him. He nodded and gestured her to sit down, "Sit here. I have something important to discuss with you and Ruhan. Let's wait for him".

Lisa nodded. She was curious though. What did he want to discuss? Mr. Ahmed was really a busy man. He wouldn't waste his time in these meaningless wedding rituals. He must have a very important task.

Lisa waited and felt uneasy. She really feared Mr. Ahmed. He was not as shallow as Ruhan. What did he wanr to talk about now?
