Chapter 456 New Year
Volume 2 - World of Four Seasons
…
One year had gone by since Arthur's shocking announcement. The World entered a whole new era, the Era of White Online.
A soft blue sky blanketed over Snowstar's bustling city. The cars with roaring engines roamed around the streets, and the pedestrians walked with a different glow in their eyes than only a year ago. There were even pedestrians holding their Mythical VR Helmet in hand.
As they entered a store, building, or their homes, usually they would instantly wear VR Helmet and enter the new World.
After the announcement, everyone began treating the residents of White Online as real people because they were. The players who mistreated NPCs felt like criminals and turned a new leaf in their lives.
Also, since Arthur proved the World to be real.
The astronomers wondered where the World was.
Was it in their solar system?
Everyone then remembered the moon that hovered above the World of White. It looked eerily similar to the moon, and astronomers studied it even closer. It didn't take long for them to discover that it was exactly the same moon as theirs!
The World was again in uproar. The questions arose, what if the World of White was perhaps closer than any other planet? Why were they unable to see it?
Since there were four moons circling around the World of Four Seasons, they had to figure out which moon it was. It didn't take long, and then they calculated the distance between the World of White and the Moon.
Then, they calculated the approximate distance and found the exact position where the World of White should be. The Space Agency's built an enormous rocket for one purpose, to find the World of White!
The World of White might be revealed to the public in the following months.
…
Crunch. Crunch. Crunch.
"…" A man with white hair and luminous silver eyes walked in the snowy streets.
The man's long white coat reached his knees while tightening around his waistline, exposing his athletic physique.
His scythe-shaped eyebrows increased the appeal of his silvery eyes and his cosmic smile. As he walked in the streets, his arms and legs moved in perfect synchrony, like the entire World was circling around him.
In his surroundings, store windows were displaying different Christmas shows. The pedestrians briskly walked past him after taking a quick glance at him.
They knew exactly who this man was.
Lord Wraith, also known as Isaac Whitelock.
"Sigh…" Isaac pulled out a scrap of paper from his back pocket. It showed a shopping list.
Back in the Whitelock Residence, there were massive Christmas parties ongoing. Whitelock's invited every family from their neighborhood alongside their relatives.
Isaac had just returned from the dojo, which had grown significantly past year. With his help, and Lionel's, they managed to grow the dojo till it was one of the biggest dojos in the entire Starshow.
Thus, after leaving the dojo, he received a phone call and was ordered by his mother to do a quick shopping tour.
He pocketed the paper and soon arrived at the convenience store. It had everything he needed.
Before entering the store, he saw a young man sitting behind a circular table. He had Mythical VR Helmet surrounding his face, and he was lying motionless.
The pedestrians didn't seem to mind him as they walked right by. It wasn't strange sight since it was common to play at every possible moment. After a workday, some might sit in their car and immediately enter the game.
At first, everyone was excited to quit their jobs to try their luck in White Online. However, the explosive player increase also made leveling up and making money incredibly difficult. In the end, many didn't have enough skill and talent to reach a high enough level and thus had to continue working.
Still, the employment rate increased explosively. There were still millions who did quit their jobs.
Isaac turned his head away and entered the store. After taking a shopping cart, he picked up the groceries needed and went straight to the shop clerk.
Even the shop clerk had Mythical VR Helmet hanging from his waistline. He would enter the game for several minutes if there weren't any customers.
The Mythical VR Helmet had a vibration sensor. It would allow the person to know if anyone was nearby, or in this case, if someone entered the store, he would immediately know.
"Yo." The shop clerk said while feeling his heart pounding rapidly. He knew who the white-haired man was and had a hard time keeping a straight face.
"Hello." Isaac placed all the groceries on the counter and watched as the shop clerk calculated the cost with shaky hands.
After that, Isaac paid for the groceries and left the store with a plastic bag in hand. Then, he continued walking in the streets and got greeted by everyone who walked past him.
As he returned the greetings, he saw the TV screen showing an image of a destroyed City.
The News Anchor spoke solemnly, "Earlier today, two 'Chain Breakers' appeared in a remote City called Westlaw. We don't know what ignited the conflict, but they began fighting, and the downtime ended up in ruins."
"The Sword of Myth had arrived on the scene and had begun examining the destruction and started finding out the identity of the two 'Chain Breakers' who fought."
"According to reports we received, close to fifty had injuries, and five died."
"Hmm…" Isaac hummed and felt his fist tightening slightly. The screen showed crying mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters.
The Chain Breaker was the name given to the people who broke the Chains. They had been on the news almost every day. There had been conflicts between two Chain Breakers, which usually would lead to destruction because they weren't aware of how much damage their fight would bring.
The Sword of Myth was a new organization created by dozen Chain Breakers. They worked alongside Government and hunted down all the Chain Breakers that became criminals or misbehaved.
"How horrible…" The nearby pedestrians murmured as their gazes lingered on the TV screens.
Isaac slipped his hand into his right pocket and walked away.
Soon, he saw the neighborhood gates, and the sound of music had already reached his ears.
