The sharp needle punctured the back of a slender hand. A scowl formed on Bai Tang’s pale face, accentuated by the creases between his distinctive eyebrows. He slumped onto the hospital’s infusion chair, exhausted, but not in the least bit irritated.

He really was too thin, so thin that there was only a thin layer of skin on the back of his hands, and the bulging blue veins looked particularly unnerving. Jiang Yunshu’s stare paused for a moment before he quietly placed the coat that had been draped on his arm over Bai Tang gently.

Bai Tang immediately opened his half-squinted eyes and stared at him.

“Sorry, I scared you.” Jiang Yunshu rested his palm on the chilly metal backrest and signalled with his hand for Bai Tang to sleep. “It’s alright, go to sleep.”

He could feel something tumbling in his gut, spinning his internal organs into a ball and causing nausea to bubble up in his throat. Bai Tang exerted all of his strength to stop it. It was so unpleasant that his thoughts had been in disarray, which reduced his vigilance significantly.

Bai Tang, as an omega, was obviously aware of the presence of several unfamiliar alphas surrounding him. Any one of them was a threat to him, so even if it was Jiang Yunsu who was sitting next to him, he desperately wanted to seize the only person he was familiar with in this huge world.

“Can you…stay?” Bai Tang muttered, his lush brows furrowed.

Jiang Yunshu answered, “I won’t leave, go to sleep.”

Zhou slid onto the chilly metal chair and curled up in a ball, pleading for a smidgeon of security in this pointless gesture.

Over time, the number of people in the area shrank. The soft incandescent light over his head added to the desolation of the infusion room. Jiang Yunshu was full of guilt. This time, it was indeed his mistake. He had previously realised that Bai Tang’s stomach wouldn’t be able to absorb all the meat at once, and he had even cut the flesh into smaller pieces. But he hadn’t anticipated Bai Tang’s stomach and intestines to be so weak that they wouldn’t even be able to take that.

He rushed it. He had neglected the most fundamental things in order to allow Bai Tang to absorb nourishment as fast as possible. How could he, as a doctor… It was a major derelection of duty. Jiang Yunshu clenched his teeth as he examined Bai Tang’s pallid lips.

“Hmm…” Bai Tang’s uneasy babbling cut him off in his thoughts. Jiang Yunshu lifted his eyes and took a glance around. After some time, he gently pushed Bai Tang’s head in his hand.

Bai Tang slept agitatedly. He clearly didn’t trust the alpha’s “I won’t leave.” Perhaps there were too many precedents in the past, like the alpha Jiang Yunsu leaving the sick and weak omega alone in the hospital or wherever and did as he pleased.

Bai Tang still seemed spiritually drained. He shook his head slowly, hesitated, and murmured, “…Thank you.”

“It’s nothing.” Jiang Yunshu shook his numb fingers, grabbed up the coat and slung it over Bai Tang’s arm. “Let’s go home.”

The car drove very steadily all the way. Bai Tang clutched his stomach and began to fall asleep again.

“Don’t sleep yet,” Jiang Yunshu stated. “We’re nearly there; when we get home, I’ll prepare you some noodles. Eat it before going to sleep.”

Bai Tang’s eyelids fluttered awake as he heard the alpha’s voice. He sat up, unconsciously. After a few seconds, he reacted and relaxed a little. “…Hmm.”

Heitang stood waiting at the door worriedly. As soon as the door opened, it rushed out and cupped the owner’s palm with its damp nose.

Jiang Yunshu boiled the thin noodles until they were soggy. He beat an egg into it, mixed it well, put it in a bowl and placed it on the dining table. “I didn’t control the quantity. If I cooked too much, just eat half a bowl to pad your stomach.”

“Thank you….” Bai Tang took the chopsticks. After a lapse of three years, he once again accepted the alpha’s care. His mood was very complicated, but he was definitely not happy. He wasn’t a saint. Facing the person who had hurt him so far, he could neither forgive nor relax.

Although the alpha had lost his memory, the deeds had already been done. The damage hadn’t disappeared, he had just forgotten about it. None of them were victims. They would never understand his suffering and the extreme despair he felt at that time. Even if he recalled it for a moment, he would still be shrouded in fear.

Bai Tang was only begging now that they could be strangers living together. Since he was enjoying the alpha’s protection, he would also fulfil his corresponding obligations.

That evening, the two returned to their respective rooms at nearly 5 am. This time, Bai Tang took off the key hanging on the door handle, closed the door and locked it.

Jiang Yunshu was deeply pleased.

But before 9 in the morning, Jiang Yunshu’s biological clock forced him to open his eyes. He blinked his sour eyes, and got up in resignation. After drinking a large glass of water and going to the toilet, he ran to the balcony and began to memorise English words.

At 8:47, Bai Tang turned over in a daze. 10 minutes later, he turned over again. He couldn’t fall asleep at all.

This biological clock… Bai Tang reluctantly opened his eyes and saw that the dog lying on the ground was still awake. He lifted the quilt and put his clothes on one by one, making a rustling sound.

A dark ear stood up and twitched.

“Good morning, Heitang.” Bai Tang’s eyes curved. He put on fluffy cotton slippers and opened the door. He was still a bit nervous and scared to face Jiang Yunsu. He didn’t know if the alpha had already woken up…

Bai Tang nervously stuck his head out. He saw that the door of the alpha’s room on the opposite side had been opened. Before he made any move, Heitang, who was beside him, pushed the door open impatiently and walked out first.

Bai Tang had no choice but to keep up, and when he was nearing the bathroom, he suddenly heard the word “gamble” being read three times in the row from the balcony.

Bai Tang was startled when he heard the alpha’s voice, then soon calmed down.

English words? He approached curiously and saw that the alpha was still in his pajamas, standing by the railing with a book in his hand.

“Gangster.” He changed to another word.

It turns out that Jiang Yunsu reads English so well? It looks like his pronunciation is American… N-no, it doesn’t sound good at all. It’s really bad!

Bai Tang shook his head vigorously, trying to throw this strange thought out. Soon after, he frowned. No… Jiang Yunsu had said before that his English was the worst.

Thinking of this, Bai Tang suddenly felt that something wasn’t right. Wait a minute, didn’t he say before that he couldn’t remember everything from the past? So all knowledge should also be completely forgotten? In a span of one year, does it mean that the alpha had to learn all the knowledge points of junior highschool, senior highschool and college? Impossible, or was it that… Jiang Yunsu actually had no amnesia at all? Or perhaps it came back to him? But it’s not right. Dr. Lin confirmed that the alpha has lost his memory forever…

Thinking about it, goosebumps arose from Bai Tang. The chill spread all over his body along the soles of the feet.

Heitang, whose tail was wagging, couldn’t stand the stillness. He stuck out his tongue and barked at Jiang Yunshu. “Arf arf!”

He was absorbed in thinking of the most terrifying dead end when the crisp dog bark scared Bai Tang half to death.

Jiang Yunshu turned around when he heard the sound, and saw Bai Tang’s fingertips pulling the glass door. Bai Tang’s eyes widened in fright. Jiang Yunshu thought it was because he caught him peeking, so he smiled. “Good morning.”

Bai Tang was so shocked by the smile that he stepped back. He stared at the alpha in fear, unable to move for a moment. Could it be that the alpha had bribed Dr. Lin and the hospital, and they colluded lying to him….

“What’s wrong?” Jiang Yunshu also noticed something was wrong, and asked with a frown. “What happened?”

Bai Tang’s expression darkened. He was terrified by his own thoughts. If it’s true…if it’s true… then the alpha is terrible…

It took him a while until he regained his voice. He asked with a trembling voice, “S-Sir, didn’t you say…you’ve forgotten everything before? Don’t you have p-permanent amnesia? Then how do you still remember the knowledge points and even plan to take the postgraduate entrance exam?”

Jiang Yunshu was stunned. He completely forgot about this. His eyebrows frowned and he became suspiciously silent.

After waiting for a long time for an answer, Bai Tang’s face changed instantly, his hands and feet were spasming. Unable to stand, he fell to the ground and struggled to shift away.

He crumbled. Big tears fell and hit the ground. He knelt down on his knees and said hoarsely, “I-I’m sorry sir… I was wrong, it was me, I was wrong…”
