Chapter 63: What Really Happened?

"With him? Why?" Pamil didn't understand.

"He is our newest member, isn't he?" Milia answered while looking away. "I need to make sure he doesn't die, or others will think we don't treat our members well. It is already hard as it is to find Maguses who prefer to give their Familiars the option to go independent."

Pamil and Natalie narrowed their eyes. Sure, Milia's reasoning seemed flawless... but that was Milia! The Ice Queen! She couldn't care less about such things. It's not that she wouldn't help her faction members, but the way others saw her or the faction mattered little to her.

Milia glanced at Alvin a little and looked away a few times while she waited to see what Pamil and the others would say.

Natalie, however, noticed that and smiled, quickly approaching Milia's ear. 'You don't give a shit to what others think. But...' She then glanced at Alvin, who seemed completely clueless. 'I approve him. He is not bad. Just make sure you tell me everything next time.'

Milia's expression went completely red. "You are mistaken!"

"Of course I am! Hahaha!" Natalie jumped back while laughing. "Pamil, William, let's go. Alvin is in good hands."

"Eh?" Pamil and William were lost. "Is that really okay?"

"That's perfect!" Natalie pulled the two away, not giving them a chance to complain. "What are we if we can't even support our members, right? Trust them! Let's go! Hahaha!"

Linfel looked at that without understanding it very well. "What was all that about?"

Alvin shook his head in response. "You tell me..." Right after, he looked back at Milia and Nori. "Are you two sure? I mean, I don't want to drag you two down."

Milia calmed down from Natalie's comments and nodded as she returned to her cold self. "It is fine. Like I said, it will be bad for our Faction if others find out we don't help our new members." She still couldn't look directly at him, though.

Alvin and Linfel looked at each other and decided to forget it. "Since you say so..."

Following that, Alvin took a look at the MCOM and opened the map. "Alright, if we run all the way while using Magic Energy, we should get to Wateva Region Frontlines in a few hours. Is that fine, Lady Milia?"

'Milia...' Milia turned her head around and murmured.

"Sorry?" Alvin didn't hear well, though.

"Call me Milia!" Milia turned back to Alvin, trying to look at him this time. "What if we are in a fight and need to communicate? Are you going to call me Lady Milia every time? Every second could be the difference between life and death, so give up the Lady thing."

"Oh!" Linfel nodded in understanding. "That is true. Milia it is, then."

Alvin wasn't as comfortable as Linfel, though. "A-Ahem... M-Mi-Milia..."

Felia felt like laughing right there and then, seeming to be the only one who really understood the situation there. As Alvin's Familiar, she had to be truthful with him all the time and tell everything she knew. However, in this one case, she decided to stay silent. 'This is something you have to do yourself, Master.'

Milia showed a faint smile, but it quickly disappeared. "Good, A-Alvin. Now, let's go!"

Milia quickly dashed ahead, quickly being followed by Linfel and the others.

As they ran through the terrain, Nori looked at Alvin behind with a cold expression. Then, he looked at Linfel and Felia before using his Magic Energy to speak with them only. 'You better keep your Master very far from my Milia.'

Linfel was taken aback. 'What are you talking about? She was the one who asked to come with us, you know?'

'Linfel, leave it to me,' Felia took the lead and used her Magic Energy to answer Nori. Poor Linfel was excluded from the conversation instantly. 'There is no point in telling Linfel or even my Master about it. Neither of them have noticed anything. If you want to talk, talk to me.'

'Hmph!' Nori didn't mind. 'So be it. I warned you. Keep this guy far away from my Master.'

'She is not your Master. You are independent, did you forget?' Felia answered with a smile. 'That said, you have no say in her decisions, let alone in my master's decisions. If the two get along, so be it.'

'As if I would let a weakling like him take advantage of Milia!' Nori was determined to not let this go through.

Felia's expression changed into a sad one. 'Oh, such an ingrate Familiar. If your Master just knew it...'

'What?! What are you talking about?' Nori felt something wasn't right.

Felia pointed at Alvin. 'Who do you think saved both Milia and YOU during the last exam? It was none other than MY MASTER! You two are only alive because HE put his life at risk to stone that Green Snake. Oh, right! A certain someone broke as soon as he blocked the Green Snake's first attack, so he became an extra burden for my Master to save as well.'

Back when the Green Snake attacked Alvin and Milia, Milia had used Nori in his sword form to block its attack. However, the Level Four Magic Beast was too strong, so Nori was damaged and lost consciousness. In the end, it was Linfel, Felia, and Alvin who saved Milia and Nori before Xalafel appeared to finish the Green Snake. It all happened during Alvin's first Field Exam.

However, because Linfel used Double Master Familiar Connection, Xalafel ordered that the information was not supposed to be shared. In the end, Milia only told Nori that principal Xalafel appeared at the last moment and saved them. It wasn't that Milia didn't trust Nori. If anything, Milia trusted Nori more than anyone else.

It's just that Milia also didn't want to cause trouble for Alvin, so she never told Nori the full story.

'You lying! It was Principal Xalafel who saved us!' Nori, obviously, didn't believe it.

'That is also true,' Felia didn't deny that. 'But who do you think kept you and Milia alive until he arrived? My master truly almost died, and that's how you repay him? How many Level One Maguses out there do you know would throw themselves in front of a Level Four Magic Beast just to save someone else? Hmph! If you don't believe me, ask Milia yourself!'

Nori ended his conversation with Felia and returned to Milia's side.

Meanwhile, Alvin asked Felia. "I'm not blind, you know? What were you and Milia's Familiar talking about?"

Felia smiled. "Oh! We were talking about Master's marriage with Milia."

*Pan!*

Alvin immediately tripped and almost fell with his face on the ground, but he recovered before that and continued to run. 'What the hell are you talking about? There is no way such a thing would happen!'

'So you two are going to marry, after all!' Linfel nodded, satisfied. 'She has a great DNA. Your descendants are bound to be good.'

Alvin wanted to cry already. 'Shut up, you two! This is not time for jokes.'

'Master, you obviously took a liking for the girl... as did most men around your age in the academy. But that doesn't mean you need to give up,' Felia insisted.

'You said it yourself... She has countless prospects to choose from, so why would she even look in my direction? I'm a nobody! Now, let's forget about it and focus on the reason we came here.' Alvin obviously wasn't that confident.

Felia, however, smiled in response. 'Well, you never know, Master. We will be on a long trip together. Couldn't some feelings take root, perhaps?'

'Alvin!' Linfel suddenly shouted in Alvin's mind. 'Don't forget! As long as you are breathing, there is a chance! You can't give up the idea of reproducing with her. I will give you my support!'

'Can you fucking forget about the reproduction thing?!' Alvin and Felia tried to grab the wisp to give him a beating. Linfel, obviously, was much faster than them and didn't give the two a chance.

'Stop running!'

Milia glanced behind and saw Linfel, Felia, and Alvin acting all weird. For some reason, Alvin's group was always like that, which she couldn't help but smile and find funny.

'Ahem... Milia.' Looking at Milia's rare smile, Nori finally had the courage to ask. 'What really happened when we were attacked by the Green Snake?'
