Milia took out her MCOM and immediately tried to contact Pamil and the others. She had been doing this ever since Linfel told everyone he had warned Pamil's group. However, so far, she hasn't seen any signs of them. "Perhaps they didn't see your message, Linfel?""I can't deny that possibility," Linfel spoke. "I can just hope they did, and they are now out of Binnan."
Alvin noticed something. "Wait, you told them in that message of yours that they should leave Heffal through Binnan, right? But... what about after it? Where did you ask them to go?"
"Eh?" Linfel was taken aback. "I didn't ask them to go anywhere. I just mentioned that they should use Binnan to get out, so they could have gone pretty much to any other country."
Milia's expression turned dark. "Fuck! Why didn't you say that earlier?! Wait, let me try to use our secret online forum."
"Secret... online forum?" Linfel had never heard about that. "What is it?"
Alvin took his MCOm and showed Linfel. "It's simply a place where you can also leave messages, although they are usually open for everyone to see instead of only those you target with the message. It is a good way to discuss some topics in a closed community."
"Aha!" Milia couldn't help but laugh. "I knew it! They didn't come to Clondure. They went to Saloton!"
"Saloton?" Linfel took his own MCOM and checked where it was. "Oh! They went pretty far away, didn't they? Even by airship, it would take us two days to get there."
Milia didn't seem to care. She quickly posted an answer to the topic Pamil made recently, giving him her new MCOM number. After all, her own MCOM stayed back in Heffal, and the military MCOM she got from Natalie was pretty much useless outside of Heffal Country.
*Plin!*
Surprisingly, she got an answer from Pamil almost instantly. After adding his contact, she quickly called over. "Pamil! You are out!"
-Hey, I've been scared out of my mind, you know? I thought you didn't make it out of Heffal. Did you see the news?-
Milia nodded before showing her MCOm to everyone so they could see the video call with Pamil. "We all saw it. Linfel was correct about everything."
Natalie then appeared like a ghost on Pamil's side. -Did you say Linfel? There he is! Linfel, how the hell did you manage to see it coming? They just announced exactly the six countries you mentioned would join the coalition. Are you perhaps a super spy inside all these countries or something?-
Linfel laughed in response. "Hahaha! How can a Level One Familiar be such an amazing spy? I just used the most common method, I analyzed all the information and tried to come out with a few scenarios. That's all."
-That's pretty impressive in and out of itself,- Natalie was still surprised. -Oh, right! Where are you guys calling from? We are in Saloton now.-
Alvin took it from there. "We are in Clondure. Things went pretty crazy back in Heffal, and we were forced to flee through Xanzion instead."
-Oh! It is Alvin! Milia, good job protecting him. You truly kept your word to keep him alive.-
Milia bitterly smiled. Protect him? She was alive and outside of Heffal now because of Linfel, Alvin's Familiar. In a certain way, it was Alvin who saved her instead. "Forget about it. Should we meet?"
William then joined the conversation. -That is a bad idea. It is not that it is dangerous or anything, but that we are just too far from each other. I'll be honest; we used pretty much all our savings to get out of Heffal through Binnan before taking an Airship there. We don't have the money to fly to Clondure, especially since it is on the other side of the countries at war.-
"This..." Milia looked at Lucau and Alvin, who shook their heads.
"We are also pretty much empty," The father and son spoke.
-Who's the old man?- Pamil asked, curious.
"He's my father," Alvin spoke. "Linfel also convinced him to get out of Heffal through the same method, so we met in Clondure."
Pamil looked at them. -Oh, I can see the similarities indeed. Anyway, Milia, neither you nor we have money at the moment. And since we kind of fled from our families, I believe you know they won't give us a single Universal Credit, especially since they should be a lot more busy making an escape from Heffal now that things have turned bad.-
"I understand..." Milia was okay with it. "Seems like we are stranded. Also, I don't have many Universe Credits with me either. Does anyone have any good ideas?"
Linfel couldn't help but sigh. "If things hadn't turned out as I imagined, we would be in Heffal by now, and the military would have paid us quite a good sum for our success in the mission. My beloved reward... gone, just like that."
-We have been discussing it for a while,- Natalie added. -We are all Maguses and Familiars, so we can definitely make use of it. With Heffal's situation, we can ask the governments of Saloton to take us a refugies. If Heffal truly ends up falling, I'm pretty sure Saloton would receive us with open arms as new Maguses and Familiars of their country. You should try the same thing.
No country would let such an opportunity pass.-
"Seems reasonable..." Milia agreed with the plan. "What do you think, Alvin?"
"Eh?" Alvin was taken aback. He pondered a bit and finally agreed as well. "Well, why not? I became a Magus for my Father, and since he is with me, I don't really mind which country I'm part of."
Lucau shrugged. "And I told you a thousand times you shouldn't bother about it. Anyway, I should be of some use. Because Alvin is still a minor, they will have to talk to me first. Let your old man do the honors."
Pamil, William, and Natalie were all adults already, so they didn't have such issues. The only one who had it was Milia, who separated from her Family.
-Sounds like a plan,- Pamil commented. -But what about Milia? She is fifteen, just like Alvin.-
Milia narrowed her eyes. She could try to contact her Family since she was sure they would manage to escape somehow. However, Milia absolutely didn't want to do so. For her, it was better if they thought she was dead instead.
It was then that Linfel pointed at Lucau. "Why so much drama? Just have Lucau pretend to be responsible for her. Oh! What about saying Milia and Alvin are boyfriend and girlfriend who fled the war together? Done! Searᴄh the NovelFire.net* website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.
That's the perfect plan!"
Milia and Alvin's expression turned completely red again. "What kind of idea is that?"
-That's a very good idea,- Natalie smiled on the other side of the video call.
-Senior Lucau, please take care of her,- Pamil already spoke as if the plan was accepted.
However, there was a certain someone who absolutely couldn't tolerate it. "Like hell he will!" Naturally, that was Nori, Milia's Familiar. "I will not accept this arrangement!"
Felia got to his side and patted his little ethereal shoulder. "It is that, or having to call Milia's family to speak for her. Which one do you choose?"
"I..." Nori was speechless. It was one terrible idea in exchange for another one just a little better, but still terrible. He had to weigh which one seemed worse, letting the Frondor family know about Milia's situation or accepting the arrangement with Alvin's father.
-It's good we reached a decision,- Pamil spoke again. He truly didn't want to give Milia any chance to say otherwise. -Now, leaving that aside. Alvin, I have someone here with me you probably want to see.- Finally, Pamil pulled Connor into the video call.
"Connor!" Alvin was shocked to see him there. "How?!"
However, Connor didn't seem as excited as Alvin. "H-Hey... Alvin. So you survived... and so did your Familiars, uh? Good for you..."
