Chapter 92: Justice

Alvin felt that notion ridiculous. "I know I can level up much faster when I'm connected to you. However, we have already used so many Red Magic Stones just to get to Level Two. Just how many do you think we will need to reach Level Three in just four months? Do you think Brown Magic Stones are cheap?"Linfel didn't seem concerned. "I guess you were the one who forgot who I am. I can simply find some rich guy and copy his Magic Energy Signature. Then we can use his funds to buy Brown Magic Stones and level up fast."

Alvin shrugged. "And who do you think you are fooling? You would never steal someone else's credits for no reason. I know you well enough to understand this much."

"Fine," Linfel didn't deny that. "I wouldn't steal from anyone... who doesn't deserve to be stolen from, that is. Hahaha!"

"Ah!" Alvin immediately understood. Naturally, there are plenty of people who don't deserve what they have, especially outlaws. However, because Universal Credits are literally a currency registered for use in the entire Universe, no government can touch these credits without the owner's consent. Forcing the issue was impossible because of the Universal Credits Laws.

"There are a lot of frauds where the perpetrators were jailed but refused to give back the money and are just waiting to come out. Indeed, I wouldn't feel the least bit burdened if I took away what they have."

"That's about it," Linfel nodded. "However, it would be better if it was someone whose culprit couldn't be proven since no one could access his Universe Credits account. The others, at least, are already jailed, and going after them might attract too much attention."

Alvin didn't waste time and used his MCOM to check the news regarding such things. Regardless of the time, there were always those who escaped the law even though investigations were carried out just because not enough proof was found. In a country as big as Ternubes, which had a Spacial Elevator, such things were bound to fall in the news.

"Here's a list of guys understood to be in the wrong, but the law can't touch them..." Alvin quickly pointed it out in his MCOM.

Linfel looked at that and felt a little sorry for Ternubes. Even though this country was considered stable, there were plenty of scandals in its government. What kept it working was basically the profits of the Spacial Elevator that sustained all the extra expenditures due to corruption.

"Whatever... let's see." Linfel perused through the various news, some dating back to over a decade without resolution. "What about this guy?"

Alvin took a look. Linfel was talking about a Governor from the Yusluve State... or a previous one, actually. The guy's mandate was taken away after several cases of fraud in the farming system. The investigations pointed out that various contracts were being given to companies close to the ex-Governor himself.

However, because the guy had many people in his pocket, he managed to stay out of jail up to this day.

"Why him?" Alvin wondered.

"Very simple," Linfel pointed at the date. "His scandal happened almost two decades ago. Most people don't even remember him anymore. By now, he is pretty much certain he will be free until the end of his life and should have his guard down. Someone like him must have a lot of Universal Credits from those times he was a corrupt governor."

Alvin pondered a bit and faintly smiled. "The reason he wasn't caught was the lack of proofs, and the news from that time also mentions how he had the legislative in his hand... but if you copy his Magic Energy Signature, that means you can also get access to a lot of his personal information. Linfel, you wouldn't mind playing the hero a little, would you?"

Linfel looked at Alvin's smile and laughed. "Hahaha! You truly want to bring all his old operations down, don't you? Sure, why not? Let's bring them all down. He will have no time to worry about our Universal Credits Transfer once the news outlets begin to disclose all the new proofs that will 'mysteriously' appear in their e-mails."

"Hahaha!" Alvin laughed as well. "As everyone says, there is no such thing as evil or good. It all depends on the individual."

It wasn't hard to find out where Romero, the ex-governor of Yusluve, was living nowadays. He just so happened to be in the same city since it was where the Spacial Elevator existed. Of course, even if he had been forgotten over time, it didn't mean Romero had no security whatsoever.

With all the Universal Credits he earned during his ears as governor, he had plenty to build himself his own mansion, which was protected by its guards 24/7.

Alvin arrived at the mansion with Linfel, which was quite extravagant. "Who says crime doesn't compensate? Look at this guy. He is living the dream!"

"A dream earned over the sweat of others, that is," Linfel complemented. Sёarch* The NôᴠelFirё.net website on Google to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Alvin couldn't agree more. "So, how will we meet th-"

Before Alvin could even finish speaking, Linfel had already moved to the front gate of the mansion, quickly reaching for the doorbell. "Hello, my name is Duroi. I'm from the repair company. Could we get in?"

Alvin almost vomited blood. Could Linfel be any more invasive than that? "What the hell are you doing?! They would never believe such an obvious-"

-Finally! I called you guys about the Magical Environment Spectrum three days ago! Come in already!-

Alvin wanted to cry already. "D-Did you know they were waiting for someone?"

"Not really," Linfel shrugged as the gate opened for them. "I just thought we wouldn't lose anything if we tried."

However, before entering the mansion, Linfel turned to Alvin. "You don't really need to come with me, you know? I'm using a fake Magic Energy Signature."

Alvin sighed. "Since we got this far, I might as well watch it to the end."

Later that day, all the news outlets in Ternubes and even a few more in nearby countries went into a frenzy. Romero, the ex-governor of Yusluve State, was taken by the authorities. Thousands of new pieces of evidence were found against him, so much so that it would be impossible for him to escape this time.

Meanwhile, no one noticed as millions of Universal Credits suddenly disappeared from Romero's own account.
