Ain: "(gasp)..........(gasp).......let’s…….pull……...the boat up…….”
“Uu…...uguuuu…..”
We finally arrived on land.
When I was finally able to see the land with my own eyes, I realized that it was an island.
The sun was starting to set in the west by the time we were able to reach the sandy shores.
Before we arrived at the island, the girl was able to get us more fish, so tonight, we’ll eat that for dinner.
We dragged the small boat up the shore enough so that it won’t be carried off by the waves, and we both fell to the ground as soon as it was done.
I’m so hungry…...but I’m even more sleepier than that.
“Gaaauuuuー ga, ugaaaaー”
“.......okay. Okay. Sheesh. I’ll cook it right now, so wait a moment.”
My partner apparently is more hungry than sleepy.
I quickly filet the fish, and throw it into the [Alchemy BOX]. Once it’s finished cooking, we eat it.
When I’m done eating, I feel a little bit of energy return.
Ain: “Let’s take the boatーーto that tree over there. We’ll flip it over against the tree and secure it with the ropes. It’ll help us avoid the winds at night.”
“Gau”
In these last two days, we were able to untangle and untie the rope that was wrapped around the oars.
The two of us carried the boat once more, flipped it upside down against the tree, and secured and tied it down with a rope.
The tree was like a palm tree, and there were several large leaves scattered on the ground. I gathered these leaves and laid it before the boat.
Ain: “Tonight, we’ll sleep here. Tomorrow, once it gets brighter, we’ll investigate the island more.”
“(YAAAAWWWWN~). Unnyu….”
She responds, laid on the leaves, and immediately fell asleep.
Now that I think about it, I don’t even know her name. I should ask tomorrow.
But I should make a camp fire.
Since I can make cooked fish, maybe I can make the coal into embers?
I took the extra oars which we didn’t need and reshaped it, and made it into a box to store the coals. I can make wood chips as long as I have wooden material.
I take the wood and make it into wood chips, and I place the wood chips with the coal, and I got coal that was already lit on fire.
As long as it stays in the box, the fire did not spread. I place the embers inside the box, and start gathering branches on the ground.
Beyond the sandy shores, there was a vast forest.
From what we could see from out in sea, there were no grassy plains or flatlands. Beyond the sandy shore was immediately the forest.
But it doesn’t mean I should walk right into the forest right now to collect branches. The girl is asleep, so I need to search for materials where I can still keep watch.
There were branches everywhere though, so I was able to gather enough very quickly.
I place the coals down and place the branches on top. The fire spread from the coals to the branches, and started crackling.
Siting next to the fire like this, I feel a sense of relief.
“Unnyu….”
The girl wakes up.
She stares at the fire, and I thought I saw a slight smile come across her face. But she quickly wrapped herself in her blanket again, closed her eyes, and fell asleep.
As the girl slept, I started making a few things we would need.
I placed the iron shackles that was used on both the girl and I into the [Alchemy BOX], and I shaped it into a sword. It was not a long sword, but it was a little longer than a short sword.
Next, I made an axe. We’ll need it to chop more wood.
I hope there is a small town somewhere on this island, but if there’s not, we’ll have to make the shelter ourselves.
We’ll need this for that purpose.
For now, I leave the rest of the chains untouched.
I also throw the branches that were soaked with moisture into the [Alchemy BOX].
Once I separate the water from the branch so the branches can burn better, and I don’t have to worry about the fire going out.
While I work, my [Alchemy BOX] level rises to 26. Now, the maximum size box I can make is 135 cm (~4.5 ft).
But this would be really inconvenient to work with, so I shrink it to about 50 cm (~1.5 ft).
“Unnn~.......GAUu”
As I finished most of the tasks I set out to do, the girl woke up.
I explained to her about the branches to use for firewood, and I switched placed with her, and wrapped the coat around me.
Ain: “Oh yeah…...so, do you have a name?” There’s no response. I assume that this means “no,” she doesn’t.
Ain: “If you don’t have a name, it’ll be really inconvenient. Can I think of one for you?”
There’s no reply, but I saw her nod slightly.
I guess that means it’s okay.
But I know I was the one who brought the idea up, but I had noー ideas for names at all.
That was a mistake. I shouldn’t have told her that I would think up of one.
But it’s true that it’ll be inconvenient without a name going forward.
A nameーa nameー.
I look at the girl for a moment.
She fell into the ocean once, and I’ve also been throwing buckets of Alchemized water on her head a few times.
The hair with all the dirt and grime gone was silver just like the moon that’s glowing and floating in the sky above.
Her eyes are gold colored. Rather than a dog, she reminds me of a wolf.
She’s the typical ー when I got all cleaned up, I was actually pretty ー kind of girl. But her hair is still a mess, and if you hide her face with it, it’s hard to see.
In this world, this is a Moon Goddess named Seifeeracea. Putting aside the fact that I don’t know if she actually exists or not, she’s one of the gods people believe in.
The girl’s hair seemed to soak up the moonlight and glow even brighter, and I began to think that a name that’s like Seifeeracea would be appropriate.
Seifeera…...would be too much like the original name. Then Fera? ………...no no no no, that’s terrible in so many ways!
“GRRRRRRrrr”
Ain: “I wasn’t thinking of giving you an inappropriate name! It’s true! YーYour name is…….Sia…….yes! How about Sia? It’s a name I derived from the Moon Goddess Seifeeracea.”
“GRr…….a…...ia……..IA…..”
Ain: “Not Ia…...SーIーA. It’s Sia.”
She tried to pronounce Sia several times, but she seemed to have trouble.
But she kept mumbling the name to herself, and at times, I thought I saw her smile with satisfaction.
Looks like she likes the name.
Ain: “(YAWN~) Okay, I’m going to get some sleep. Wake me up if anything happens, okay?”
Sia: “GAU.”
After hearing the girlーSia respond, it didn’t take long for me to feel my consciousness drift as I fell asleep.
I woke up when the sun was already high up in the sky.
Ain: “MMmmーー.....(YAWN), good morning. Oh, that’s right. You now have a name, Sia. Good morning, Sia.”
Sia: “Ungyu. a, Agu. Au-au.”
Hm? What is she doing?
She grabbed her head and rolled over backwards.
Ain: “Sia, are you okay?” Sia: “Unyu. U...uga…..GRRRRRrrr.” As she rolled around, she began to growl. I guess she’s okay?
Ain: “Okay, let’s eat breakfast. I bet you were waiting for me, so you’re hungry too, right, Sia?” Sia: “GAU!”
As if to say, “OF COURSE I AM!” She gets up.
I cooked the rest of the fish we had left over from yesterday, and I prayed that this would be last continuous, back-to-back fish meal we would have.
I looked around the scenery under the sun, and to the west, the sandy beaches continued further, and to the east, the island curved around.
I guess we’ll head east first once we’re done eating the fish.
