"Grandpa is sick!"
Michelle jumped up from the bed without a care for her clothes. She quickly ran under the bed, picked up the clothes on the floor and put them on.
The light in Lin Muhan's eyes darkened even further. He watched Mi Xue as she put on her clothes before he went to open the door.
The Uncle Fu had obviously already gone to inform the others. The two frantically walked out of the room and towards the old man's room.
By the time they arrived, the room was already filled with people. Everyone else had already arrived.
"Look at you, my nephew's wife, the one that Daddy values the most is you. Look at you, even Dad came so late when he was sick." Xu Meiyu scolded from the side, "We really have to find out who's the most concerned with Dad at this crucial moment!"
"That's right, if this goes on, how can we be at ease leaving dad here?" Bai Su added.
Mi Xue knew she was in the wrong and did not make a sound. Lin Muhan carried her in his arms, walked to the door of his grandfather's room and knocked.
"Young master, Dr. Xu is currently inspecting the old master, please wait a moment." Uncle Fu said respectfully.
Lin Muhan nodded and returned to his original spot.
Michelle nervously looked at the closed door, her hand clenched into a fist.
"Don't worry, Grandpa does regular inspections and will be fine." Lin Muhan reached out and grabbed Mi Xue's hand.
His ice-cold hand was suddenly enveloped by warmth. Mi Xue leaned against his body, seemingly much more at ease.
The group waited outside of the room. Unlike Michelle who was anxious, the others seemed to have a trace of excitement in their eyes even though they looked worried.
Half an hour later, the door opened, and Xu Yansheng walked out with a serious expression.
"The lordmaster's body can't be affected. I've said it before, if I wasn't here today, I'm afraid the lordmaster would …"
The following words didn't come out, but everyone was clear on the meaning behind them.
"Who is so important on this day? Who dares to provoke the old man? We're all so honest to be receiving guests downstairs!" Xu Meiyu swept her gaze around as if she was pointing at something.
Earlier, Lin Junhao, Lin Junxian and Lin Junqian were seeing off their guests downstairs, only Mi Xue and Lin Muhan were present in the room. Mi Xue was a little embarrassed and wanted to explain, but Lin Muhan pinched her hands.
"Second Aunt, you can eat whatever you want, but you can't say whatever you want!" Lin Muhan's cold eyes swept across the room. The room that had been filled with chattering was now extremely quiet.
Xu Meiyu was naturally unwilling to make a fool of herself in front of so many people.
She looked at Lin Muhan coldly, "Lin Muhan, what do you mean by this? We were downstairs just now. Everyone was watching. "
Lin Muhan looked around, "Then what about the Lin Family and Lin Jia Qian?"
"Th-they …"
Xu Meiyu swept a glance around, and only now did she realize that everyone was present, only her son and daughter were not present.
"Alright, alright." Lin Junxian had only planned to watch the show, but seeing that Xu Meiyu was at a disadvantage, he immediately stood out, "Hey Muhan, she's your second aunt after all, how can you speak to your elders like that?"
He reprimanded Xu Meiyu, helping her to get back at her.
Lin Muhan coldly swept a glance at them, and turned to look at Xu Yansheng, "How is Grandfather?"
"The situation isn't too bad, but it's best if we take a rest. I will also stay here and take care of him." Xu Yansheng raised his eyebrows, and looked at everyone in the room, "It's getting late, the old man needs to rest, you guys should all return."
"We're all worried about Dad, so of course we should go take a look." Xu Meiyu lifted her chin in dissatisfaction.
"Right, if we don't see that dad is safe and sound, we won't be at ease!"
"Dr. Xu, we're just standing at the door to take a look. This shouldn't be too hard, right?"
"..."
After Xu Meiyu had made her move, everyone started talking to each other. They all said that they wanted to see the old man, but only they themselves knew of the plan in their hearts.
Lin Muhan's gaze grew even colder as he swept his gaze across the crowd, "You all have heard the doctor's words. If you are truly concerned about your grandfather, then go back right now.
"Lin Muhan, what do you mean by that? We've all left, and you're taking advantage of the old man's illness to take over his property right?"
"You really think that we don't know about your petty tricks!"
Neither of the two aunts was a good person, so they immediately made things clear.
"Aunt, don't force your thoughts on me." Lin Muhan's face was gloomy, as though a storm was approaching.
The other three families did not retreat at all. It was as if they reached an agreement today.
Just as both sides were about to reach the peak of their anger and the battle was about to break out, a loud cough attracted everyone's attention.
Everyone turned to look at Uncle Fu, their eyes shining.
"Everyone, the old master said that he is tired tonight and does not want to see anyone. You can all go back and rest." Uncle Fu politely told everyone.
Hearing this result, at this critical juncture, there were naturally no objections.
Although Mi Xue was very worried, and hesitated for a few times, in the end, she still did not speak of her request. Seeing that her mood was slightly downcast, Lin Muhan consoled her in a low voice, "I'll come again to see Grandfather tomorrow morning.
"Yes." Michelle replied softly.
"Young Master, Young Mistress!" Uncle Fu suddenly walked forward, "Please wait!"
"Hmm?" Mi Xue and Lin Muhan stopped in their tracks.
"The old master has asked the two of you to enter. He has something to say to you!" Uncle Fu smiled as he looked at the two of them.
This caused the two to be even more astonished. The others were about to leave, but after hearing the news, they also stopped and didn't dare to say anything. In the end, they flung their sleeves and left.
Lin Muhan pulled the still shocked Mi Xue and walked towards his room. When he opened the door, he saw his grandfather lying on his bed.
"Grandfather!" Mi Xue and Lin Muhan spoke at the same time. Mi Xue threw Lin Muhan's hand off and quickly walked to the bed. "Grandfather, how are you feeling now?"
"I'm fine." The old man chuckled, "I'm pretending to be sick."
"Hmm?"
Michelle was even more surprised. "Grandpa, why are you pretending to be sick?"
The old man swept a glance at Lin Muhan, feeling even more satisfied with his indifferent look.
"It's rare for your uncle to come back. I just want them to stay here for a few more days." The old man said softly.
When Michelle heard this, she felt guilty.
Normally, there would only be Grandfather, Uncle Fu and a few servants in this old house. The old man must have felt lonely, and she hadn't had the time to come over during this period of time.
"Grandpa, I'm sorry. I should have come to see you more in the past." Mi Xue was ashamed. "It's good that uncle and aunt are back. It's rare for the house to be so lively, so you don't have to be so lonely."
The old man's heart was filled with emotions when he heard what Michelle said. He pulled her hand and sighed softly.
Lin Muhan, on the other hand, looked at the old man with clear eyes, and started to plan in his heart.
"Muhan, you will have to put in a lot of effort during this period of time." The old man looked at Lin Muhan with expectation.
"Don't worry, Grandpa." Lin Muhan promised.
"Alright, it's getting late. Don't worry, I'm fine." The old man suddenly looked at Michelle and smiled, "Don't tell anyone that I'm faking my illness. It'll all be for nothing then."
"Alright." Michelle promised, determined to spend more time with her grandfather in the future.
As the two walked towards the door, the old man couldn't help but say, "Xue Xue Xue, you should stay at the old house for the time being."
"I …" Mi Xue looked at Lin Muhan. Right now, she was his secretary.
"Alright, let her calm down here with you." Lin Muhan agreed without thinking.
The two of them walked out of the room, and followed Uncle Fu who was waiting outside to say goodbye. Just as they were about to return, they saw Xu Meiyu, Bai Su and the other two standing at the door of the room, waiting.
"Second Aunt, Little Aunt, Aunt." Michelle greeted him politely.
"Mi Xue, we don't often stay at this old house. We can't fall asleep due to all the things that happened just now, so we decided to go have some tea and have a chat together. Would you like to join us?" Bai Su smiled as she looked at Mi Xue.
"This …" Although Mi Xue was somewhat exhausted, she couldn't refuse the words of her elders.
Just as she was about to agree, Lin Muhan suddenly pulled her arm, "Aunt, she's been busy all day, and I don't think you guys and her have any common topics to talk about, it's best not to embarrass each other."
As he said that, he opened the door and said, "Pregnant women need to rest more. We won't disturb you from having some scented tea."
"What, pregnant?"
"Is she pregnant?"
For a moment, everyone's attention was focused on Michelle's stomach.
Mi Xue's face flushed red. She looked up at Lin Muhan, unsure of what he meant, but unable to see through his lies in front of everyone, she could only watch from the side.
Lin Muhan nodded his head, and added without a hint of hesitation: "We've been married for so long, we should be pregnant, so we'll go rest first."
These words were so polite that no one had any reason to refute them.
It was only when the door closed that the three women reacted. Xu Meiyu coldly snorted, "No wonder the old man had to give her so much shares!"
"Second Sister-in-Law, Third sister, I will return to my room first." Lin Junqian also felt that it was boring.
After she left, Xu Meiyu and Bai Su left while cursing loudly, their restless hearts could not help but tremble.
In the room, Mi Xue finally dared to ask Lin Muhan, "I am obviously not pregnant, why did you lie to them?"
"Then would you like to go for tea with them?" Lin Muhan asked.
Mi Xue shook her head. Although each of them looked to be smiling, she still felt uneasy, especially when Xu Meiyu was among them.
"That's it. I just found a good reason." Lin Muhan acted as if it was natural.
"There's no need to use pregnancy as a pretense, especially since I don't have it at all."
Just because we don't have it now doesn't mean that we won't have it soon. Mrs. Lin, shouldn't we turn lies into reality? Lin Muhan's lips curled up into a smile.
