Jake froze. Who was that person then?
Someone who knew that Myriad Arrows was the grandson of the chairman of Horace. And someone who knew that Jake was being spied on by Horace.
"This person either has to be an insider of Horace, or has to be someone who knows way too much." Jake was lost in thought, when a message pulled him out.
Ping!
[What happened? Are you coming?]
It was a message from Myriad Arrows. He was still waiting at Croatia, and was confused why Jake was taking so long.
He didn't know that Jake left because he was tracking a person. He thought that Jake went back because he forgot something.
"Huh? It hasn't been that lo- Wait, it has already been five minutes? What the hell?" Jake was shocked. Time just passed in an instant, and five minutes was lost in Jake's thinking.
"I should do this later. This is also a little important." Jake thought to himself as he walked through the portal again, paying the fee again. Soon, he was gone, and for real this time.
The moment he passed through the portal, he arrived in a green place. This was not the lush green and blue that greeted him when he arrived at Diffast. This was a different place.
It was a jungle green, and everywhere he looked, he felt like he was in the middle of the jungle, even though he was in the second biggest city of Croatia.
"This is pretty small. Looks like the kingdoms don't have many cities, and their biggest is the capital city." Myriad Arrows commented as he looked at the entire city in front of him in a glimpse.
"Empires are different. They have big cities, and the capital city of the Empires are of an entire league of their own. But kingdoms, kingdoms are different. Even among kingdoms, there are tiers. Black stone is a tier one kingdom, while this one is a Tier Two kingdom." Jake explained.
"So there are smaller kingdoms?" Myriad Arrows asked.
"Much smaller. And those are the kingdoms that guilds usually occupy. Guilds aren't capable of getting a bigger kingdom this early. I mean, even now, not a single guild is capable of getting their own kingdom. Maybe after a few months, after the general level of the guilds increase, and they can actually go against the guards and the protectors of the kingdoms, maybe we will see a few guilds taking over their own kingdom." Jake said.
"I see. Is Bright Horizon going to take over a kingdom then? Any time soon? I mean, every other thing, you have been able to achieve much faster than other guilds." Myriad Arrows asked.
"Why the hell would we do something like that? Getting our own kingdom? It is way too expensive to pull off, and the benefits that you get are not even that much. And you will only get more work because of this. The admin work that kingdoms face, it is just monstrous."
"It is much easier to just go to a kingdom, become the most powerful guild there so that the kingdom will recognize the guild as the Kingdom's Main Guild. There are a few benefits that come with that, and those benefits are almost as good as taking over the kingdom itself." Jake said.
"Really? You can do that? Then why don't you do that instead? We should try doing that!" Myriad Arrows asked, his face flushed with excitement.
"Yeah. Sure. We can do that. Do you think that just about anyone could do that? You had to go through some screening process to get into a street that happens to have the house of a duke of all people. And now, you want to go convincing the king that you want to become the main guild of the kingdom?" Jake chuckled.
"Everything will take time to achieve. And we have to build foundations. That is why we need a strong core. Why do you think I was pissed at you? The core needs to be strong and completely dedicated to my guild if we will be able to pull this off." Jake said.
Myriad Arrows shied away from the topic of the fight immediately, and Jake noticed that.
"Speaking of the core, where is that other person that you gave an epic item to that day? That Kir- something. I can't seem to remember." Myriad Arrows asked.
"Kierch. He is a loner. I don't want to tie him down. He will grow faster going on his own than with us holding him down." Jake shook his head.
"Then you don't have much of a core then, do you? It's just two people. You and me." Myriad Arrows pointed out.
"The goal is to get that number up." Jake nodded as they started walking.
Even thought this was an entirely new kingdom, Jake knew his way around like the front of his palm.
(Not a typo. Actual front. I mean, do you know the back of your palm that well?)
He turned to small streets and travelled through the white sparse roads as if he grew up in these streets.
"I did find someone that was interesting during that raid. The goblin raid. You left them alone and this guy took leadership and completely surprised me." Myriad Arrows said.
"Is it?" Jake raised his eyebrows.
"That is interesting. Tell me more about him. For him to interest you, I am sure that he must be a talent that we can nurture." Jake nodded.
"He is not like an insane fighting talent, but he has good leadership. I think the the guild could use someone like that. Especially if you are going to be busy taking care of the future of the guild, someone needs to be here running the present like you planned it." Myriad Arrows said.
"You have me interested. Keep talking." Jake said as they kept walking.
