The goblin elder froze.
"You are thorough, human." The elder said.
"This is a lot of silver and gold that we are talking about. I'd rather not take any risk." Jake said.
"Fine then. As you wish, I will take an oath in the name of our god." The elder nodded and raised his cane that he used to walk with.
He started talking, but the words that came out weren't of English origin. They were another language. A language that did not seen human.
p The only word that Jake and Myriad Arrows recognized was the one of the god that the goblins worshipped: Kubera.
Then, above, in the skies, thunder crackled and lighting was visible. They could see the sky a little from where they were in the jungle, but what they saw and heard was enough to tell them that a serious oath was indeed made.
"Fine then. A deal is a deal. The bag is yours. Let us go then. Please, guide us to the center of the forest. I am too interested in seeing what lies there." Jake nodded.
"You will be following your guide for the forest that has been with you all this time. Small Horikiru. He has been guiding you since the beginning, and will guide you to the center of the forest like you asked for." The elder said as he glanced at the small goblin that Jake and Myriad Arrows first met when they entered the forest.
"Alright. Show us the way," Jake nodded.
The goblin, Small Horikiru, jumped to get in front of them from the side that he was sitting on. He had a radiant smile on his face as he nodded.
Without saying a word, the goblin turned around and started walking beyond the elder and into the depths of the forest.
"We have to follow. This might be a long journey." Jake said.
"I was prepared for that." Myriad Arrows nodded.
The trees turned short soon after. It was like only the small stretch that the goblin inhibited had a lot of tall trees with sparse bushes.
Now that they were in this intense thicket, the light that shone through these thick and clustered branches above was minimal. Almost none passed through, and only shadows existed in this stretch that they were walking through.
Myriad Arrows was in the middle, his hand constantly going to his bow as he heard even the simplest noises.
"Do not worry. We are close to the Goblin territory. No one dares to go against the goblins. They are a united species, even though they are individually not that strong. No species here faces a chance against them." Jake put his shoulder and Myriad Arrows, trying to calm him down.
"For some reason, I feel like whatever is coming, it is going to be way too terrifying for us to go against." Myriad Arrows said.
"You are absolutely right. What we are going to see is something that is too terrifying for us to try and take care of. Maybe if we grinned together for a year, and we completed the tier completion quests, we would have a chance to clear the boss in the middle of the forest." Jake nodded.
"Then why the hell did you bring us here? Why would you take us to our deathbed?" Myriad Arrows couldn't believe his ears when Jake said this.
Jake was admitting that he was taking them to a monster that they couldn't beat?
"We wil not stand a chance even if we tried out best to try to defeat the boss of this jungle. I mean, this is the boss of the entire kingdom of Croatia. It will take way too long to defeat it, and it is an unkillable creature. It can only be put to sleep." Jake said.
"Ah! Please tell me that you have a way to put it to sleep then." Myriad Arrows looked at Jake expectantly.
"No. I am not omnipotent. But we are not going to face the king of the forest. That is not our goal . We want to go somewhere else." Jake said, smiling.
He glanced at his notification bar, or rather, the time. It was approaching the late day, and in a few hours, the sun was going to set.
Myriad Arrows noticed what Jake was doing.
"So are you going to attack it when it is actually sleeping in the night?" He asked.
"What? No! Absolutely not!" Jake shook his head.
"One attack and you will raise it from its sleep, and it will swat you away to death in one move. Why would you want to wake the monster up by attacking it in its sleep? Even if you use your best attack, and the attack becomes a critical attack, you still will not be able to dent the HP bar of the king of the forest." Jake shook his head.
The goblin stopped for a moment and looked at Jake. It tilted its head, looking closely at Jake. Then, it shook its head, a small smile appeared in its face as it turned back around and continued walking.
"See. Even the goblin agrees with me on this." Jake chuckled.
"Alright. Be honest with me then. What are we going to do? Coming all the way here?" Myriad Arrows asked.
"I even brought my precious gloves! This is the best equipment that I could find, and even though I went back to the flying pavilion, every single weapon there is hundreds of gold coins for some reason. This is the only epic item that I can find for myself." Myriad Arrows said.
"So you are afraid that you might drop the bow? Don't worry too much about it then. It wil take a while for us to get to the center of the forest, but when we do get there, we will not be fighting the boss or anything. We will be looking for something." Jake chuckled.
