Jake still couldn't believe what had happened. He was sure that everything was done right. He remembered everything about the instructions to the secret dungeon.
After all, it was said to be a treasure trove that could only be accessed once. One guild would be the lucky ones to get all of the treasure that was inside this secret realm.
But that was not where they were right now.
A secret dungeon was not like this. When a player enters a dungeon, secret or not, they would be greeted by a simple message that would detail what they would need to do for that time.
But that was not what Jake was looking at. In fact, Jake couldn't see anything at all. That could only mean one thing, they weren't in a secret dungeon.
And the only other secret classification was given to the secret realm. And Jake was absolutely positive that there was no secret realm that was found in the forest that they just left.
It wasn't supposed to be there.
And when he turned around, he saw that the portal that they entered through had vanished completely. They were stranded here until they could find another way out of the secret realm.
That was the terrible part of secret realms. One would be stranded in secret realms until they died. And even after they died, they would revive within the secret realm, forming a closed loop until seven days passed.
And for these seven days, a player was not even allowed to exit the game. Logging out was not an option.
No other game could afford to have such a human rights violation that forced someone where they didn't want to be. But of course, World Online was different. And Jake knew it the moment he realized that they were in a secret realm.
So when Myriad Arrows asked him where they were, and why this place did not look like a dungeon at all, Jake didn't know how to answer him.
But he gathers the courage.
"We are trapped here for a while, Myriad. Looks like I messed up. My information was a little off. I thought that there was a secret dungeon here, but we entered a secret realm instead." Jake sighed and said.
"A secret realm? That sounds interesting. What does that mean? Good rewards?" Myriad Arrows asked, his eyes sparkling with curiosity.
"It means that we entered a place that we cannot possibly afford to stay at. Monsters that are almost definitely stronger than us, and a place that we cannot leave until we clear the boss monster of." Jake said.
"So we entered a secret dungeon basically, one that we cannot beat." Myriad Arrows asked.
"No. You do not understand. We cannot log out for the next seven days, or until we leave the secret realm. And to do that, we need to either beat the boss, or we need to find the secret exit of this place." Jake said.
"I see." Myriad Arrows' face fell for a few minutes before it went back to optimistic again.
"We should try and see if the monsters are monsters that we can beat. I mean, if we are able to beat a few of these monsters, then we will get exp. We have nothing else to do for the next seven days after all." Myriad Arrows said.
"I don't know what we will be facing. Monsters that I probably have never seen. You better be ready for anything to come." Jake said as he brandished his sword, looking around carefully.
Myriad Arrows also got up and grabbed his bow, his right hand finally on an arrow after an hour of cowering in front of a goblin.
He was just itching let the string twang and for heads to fall.
"We need to do some good recon as well. You are right. We need to know what we will be facing in this place." Jake nodded.
This was a new experience for him since he returned from the future.
For the first time in this new life, he had no idea what was going to come for him, and he had no idea what he would do next.
This was an event that didn't occur in the last life, and that put things into perspective for Jake.
Things were changing, and the effects of Jake's return were becoming bigger and more visible.
First, they showed in the update which was sudden and maybe not completely dependent on Jake?
But this was different. This was weird. A secret realm that no one found the last time? No. After the secret dungeon was found, people scored this wall. Dozens looked through this area, and they found nothing.
There was no way there was a secret realm here that no one knew about.
"Maybe this is a one time clear secret realm. But to find all of this out, we need to clear the goddamn thing. But I don't know what to even expect." Jake cursed as his eye scanned the treetops.
Enemies could come from anywhere and he needed to be prepared.
"We need to get to the top. An archer look you will have an advantage getting higher ground, while I think it is better for me as well if I can have a good look at what I will be going against." Jake said.
"Yeah. We should get up on one of these trees." Myriad Arrows nodded.
So while Jake stood guard, Myriad Arrows struggled with all of his equipment in his inventory, climbing up the tree that they found the easiest to climb, and yet had a good view.
Luckily for them, they had a very abundant selection.
Soon enough, Jake was also on top of the tree, and from the very peak of the tree, they were just barely able to see through the canopy.
And that was when they saw them.
Dinosaurs.
