The church doors clicked as the key turned, and the lock turned.

With one push, the dusty church doors swung open, and the hall inside was revealed. It was what was to be expected from a church.

What greeted them straight ahead was a statue of the God Of Light. Jake could recognize the handsome face of the god anywhere.

But the statue was in a state of ruin, not even close to the glamorous state that it should be in. It had cracks all over it, and the right hand was broken off, fallen to the ground.

The carriage had stopped, and the doors opened, Father Joseph slowly walking into the church.

Everyone made way for the high priest to walk into the church first. Although everyone was able to see what was inside, no one dared to enter without the permission of the high priest.

Father Joseph stepped up, slowly climbing the stairs. He looked back a moment and glanced at Jake.

"Come, help me up. I like the way you helped me walk the last time." Father Joseph smiled warmly toward Jake.

Jake nodded and his sword disappear into his inventory as he rushed toward Father Joseph.

With a cane on one side and Jake on the other, Father Joseph slowly walked until he reached the threshold, Annie and Ganshin next to him.

"Ah! The Church of Holmgren. How long has it been since I came here? I can't even remember what it was like when the Saint was still here." Father Joseph said, his voice trembling as his eyes flashed with remembrance.

Jake watched them with great interest. They were all old enough to actually come here once upon a time? Just how old were these people?

"Come. There is no danger inside. No one dares enter a church. The light is dimming, and we have little time before the true dangers surface." Father Joseph said as he put his cane inside the church and he used Jake's support to take the step inside.

Jake quickly followed, and the moment he stepped into the church, he felt a sharp gust of wind sweep his hair back.

He raised his head up, surprised by the sudden gust. There were no windows open here. Where was the gust of wind coming from?

As they took the first step, everyone else was also slowly walking iside the church. There were about thirty people in this caravan, and all of them shuffled into the church.

The carriage and the two horses that drew them were left outside, tied to one of the stumps that was conveniently present in the entrance.

Once everyone was in the church, candles suddenly started lighting up. It was the fire mage. The mage started lighting up the wax candles that were everywhere. On the ceiling, on the sides, and to the corners.

Once all of these candles lit up, Father Joseph nodded at Ganshin, who walked out of the church to the carriage.

From the carriage, he took out a giant box, a trunk of sorts. It was wooden, and was quite big and hefty.

Jake looked around to see if anyone would help the man out, but no one offered. Ganshin lifted the trunk on his own and brought it into the dimly lit church.

Right as he entered the church, Jake heard a sound.

Low pitched sounds from outside the church were audible.

Jake's eyes drifted to the right edge. He was looking at his own player's panel and he looked at the time.

[8:00 PM]

"Nightfall!" Jake realized as he looked around, panicked.

Father Joseph, who was next to him, noticed Jake's panicked face.

"I know that you are worried, young Baron. You seem to know about the terrifying evil beasts and their abilities in the night. That is why we are here though." Father Joseph smiled as he looked at Ganshin again.

The doors of the church were closed, and they could barely see each other and what was around them.

Candles offered them little light, and it barely helped them see. They weren't ideal.

Ganshin carried the trunk all the way forward, to the front of the church, where the statue of the god of light stood.

There, he let the trunk down, and slowly opened the trunk.

A bright, golden light suddenly came from within that trunk. He was a few meters away, so they couldn't see what was within, but Jake had a vague idea. It could possibly be a Divine Stone, a gift from god.

It could also be a light stone, a stone that did nothing but emit brilliance all around, but it wouldn't make any sense why Ganshin would place something like that at the front next to the statue instead of at the center of the church.

Regardless, with the trunk open, the light that came from the trunk was bright enough to completely eclipse the light of the candles that were lit just a few minutes ago.

"Help me up." Father Joseph said as he took the support of his cane and Jake and got up from one of the benches.

They started slowly walking toward the front, down the aisle that existed in every church.

As they did that, Jake could see the light that was being emitted toward the statue mostly, seemed to do something to the color.

The gray color of the statue was changing. It was returning to the color that it was originally supposed to be at- golden.

A golden tint was returning to the statue.

"So the statues weren't made of gold! They are made of another material that shines because of divine power!" Jake realized.

As they reached the front, Jake could see what was within the trunk. It was a fist sized stone that gave all of this light.

"Guess I guessed right. A divine stone."
