Jake held his sword and looked at it. Gone was the rusty look. Instead, it had a blue shine to it. The sword looked fit for a guild leader, for a baron, and now, he was getting thoughts in the back of his head.
"Father, if this sword was actually not used to its best, then what of my armor? Is that also-"
"Do not get greedy, Young Baron. Greed is a sin that the one up there will not forgive. Your sin of wrath, that can be forgiven. But greed? The other deadly sins are not forgiven." Father Joseph shook his head.
"Sin of Wrath? That must be what the Knight of Sin does. Wrath must be his sin." Jake understood.
He then nodded at Father Joseph.
"I was not asking you for your help, Father. If I want to unlock its power in the future, then will anyone be able to unlock it like you did?" Jake asked.
"What I did was unseal what should be unsealed with your power. This sword of yours, it holds it power to suit its wielder. When you get stronger, the armor shall show its true power." Father Joseph smiled and said.
"I understand, Father. Thank you." Jake smiled.
"Get some rest. You might think that you can handle it, but let me tell you, it is not going to be an easy time tomorrow." He said again and got up.
Without any help from his cane, he walked over to the statue of God, sitting cross-legged in front of it.
Then, his eyes closed as he put his hands together and he started chanting something that was inaudible to Jake.
"He prays even during the night? Wow. What kind of character did the devs make for this one?" Jake thought to himself as he looked back at the doors.
As much as everyone wanted to tell him that the church was a sanctuary that could not be trespassed upon, Jake had his doubts. This was a god who was weaker than the Evil God, and in a territory that was not his.
The only thing that would stop any of the evil beasts from coming into the church was the fear that they possessed to the light. And if that fear was somehow taken care of, then it would be too frightening.
Jake looked down at his sword again. It was much stronger than before now. It had a few more stats than before, and more importantly, it also had another stat upgraded.
Sword of Misery [Level 1] [Legendary] No Level Requirement
+20 Strength +20 Agility +20Vitality
Special Skill 1: Slash of Hunger - Cool down: 3 minutes
Special Skill 2: Slash of Thirst - Cool down: 7 minutes
Special Skill 3: Locked
"The Slash of Hunger?" Jake was intrigued now. He just couldn't wait until he cold try this out in the field.
His hands trembled as they held the sword tighter. Then, he put the sword back in his inventory.
"If the sword can be unlocked, then surely, I should be able to unlock the armor. He said that as I get stronger, I should be able to unlock the amor slowly. But if I am not wrong, the second tier shouldn't do this. The third tier should. Maybe the second tier was the unlocking of the sword?" Jake thought to himself.
He felt like all of this was a giant story line that was centered around making his sword and armor slowly stronger. Because the father coming to him and making his sword a little stronger, it was too coincidental.
The priests of light didn't usually strengthen weapons. They didn't usually unlock the special skills. Instead they would just make the weapons reveal their true form, and they would unseal sealed items.
In this case, the weapon wasn't technically considered as sealed. It was temporarily locked, in a way.
"Well, I just need to get stronger. That is the answer to everything. Time should tell me what the real story is." Jake thought to himself.
As he was thinking about this, his eyes were slowly closing. Everything that he saw was getting blurry.
Ping!
[You have been hit by a spell]
[You are being forced into sleep]
"Whaaaaa..."
Jake couldn't even speak, and he toppled to the side, and fell to the edge of the bench, unknowingly falling into a deep slumber.
Over him, a shadow appeared.
"Ah! This boy shall be the main character of the day, and yet he refuses to get his rest. What a fool." Father Joseph shook his head, clicking his tongue.
Then, he turned to the side.
"Tell me, God. Why is it that you wish to test him such? You wish to bring everyone to the same level just to see if this young man is strong enough, righteous enough to inherit this power that you have given him." Father Joseph glanced at the statue of god.
The statue shone a little, as if communicating with Father Joseph.
"I understand. I can only hope that everything goes according to plan. The Evil God is an existence that we cannot deal with. I shall follow your instructions to the letter." The Father bowed to the ground.
As he did, the statue shone even brighter.
The gray hair of the father suddenly started slowly turning darker. The face of the father also started becoming clearer. The wrinkles didn't disappear. Instead, they turned more unnoticeable.
It was like a decade or two was shaved off of his life.
"This! This gift! This is not something that I deserve. This vitality that you have given me, it is not something that I deserve!" Father Joseph suddenly exclaimed as he looked up with shock.
The statue glowed in response, and Father Joseph's face turned solemn.
He nodded, and his face no longer had the joy that he was supposed to have.
