Episode 4: Parting Ways with Childhood Friend, Unaware of the Mistake

After the yakiniku dinner, I wrote on Twitter and the afterword of my web novel, “I’ll continue after all.”

Suddenly, I received more than double the number of comments compared to when I announced my retirement.

“You’re so popular, sensei.”

We were on the train, heading back home.

“What about your motorcycle?”

“I drank alcohol, so I’ll pick it up tomorrow.”

“Cheers!” Mei said, chugging down wine.

“I… I’m relieved. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to continue reading… I got worried,” she said.

With a thud, Mei rested her head on my shoulder.

“Hey… Sensei.”

“What is it?”

“Wanna go out with me?”

“Huh…?!”

Why is she suddenly asking that?

“An old lady like me… Is it not good?”

“It’s not that… I mean, you’re not an old lady, Mei. You’re 22.”

“Five years older than you, so from your perspective, I’m an old lady, right?”

“It’s not like that. You’re beautiful.”

I smiled, and Mei grabbed hold of my arm.

Ah, her chest!

Her large chest pressed against me…!

“Well, isn’t that good? Let’s go out,” she said.

“No…”

“Honestly, I could tell from your words and actions that you were interested in women. That’s why I held back… But if you’re rejected, then it’s not a problem! So, let’s go out!”

“No, that’s a bit…”

“Is it not okay?”

“Um… Why me?”

“Well, you’re rich, a super famous author… And you’re cute,” she said.

Even in public, Mei kissed my cheek.

She’s drunk! She’s completely drunk!

“Hey, is it a no?”

I quickly stood up and distanced myself from Mei.

Mei waved with a smile.

I walked alone through the night streets after exiting the ticket gate.

The wound from being rejected by his childhood friend had already healed.

I opened my smartphone.

There were numerous messages of support written there.

“That’s right… It’s just being rejected by a childhood friend. I have everyone supporting me.”
