Chapter 1289: Mother’s Advice
“So you were playing with my daughter’s emotions,” came the displeased comment from Lu Jinhai.
“I was giving her a chance to think it over again and to go away from me,” Ming Rusheng added.
“Go away from you? Why? Didn’t you want her to be with you?” Lu Jinhai was not ready to back down and no one meddled in between this soon-to-be father and son-in-law.
Nothing affected Ming Rusheng as all he could do was, to be honest. “Before my accident, we had a fight and Lian wanted to leave me so I didn’t wish her to return to me just because she felt indebted to me for saving her. I wanted to give her a chance and not to feel guilty or as if she owed me something.”
“Why did you two fight. I am sure it’s you who must be the one at fault. I know my daughter never fights with anyone without a valid reason,” Lu Jinhai asked coldly as she was not ready to melt in front of Ming Rusheng’s honesty. His daughter was more precious and he would not give her to anyone unless that man deserves to have her.
“That’s right. I was the one at fault,” Ming Rusheng admitted while Lu Lian was scared if he would reveal why they fought and the next moment her fear was about to come true.
“What did you do to upset my daughter,” Lu Jinhai asked.
“I told her what happened…..”
“Father, it’s between him and me. I don’t wish anyone to know the private things between him and me,” Lu Lian interrupted him, as her heart was ready to jump out of her chest.
She didn’t know if her family would accept the truth and especially anything that was related to Jiang Yuyan. They might get angry at Ming Rusheng.
“Fine. As long as you two are good now,” Lu Jinhai agreed and asked nothing more.
Lu Lian could only give out a sigh of relief.
“You two don’t take too much time. I can’t wait to have the wedding in my home,” elder Lu said.
Ming Rusheng and Lu Lian could only nod as they had to think over it.
Talking for a while, Ming Rusheng stood up, “I will take a leave now.”
Others stood up too and permitted him to leave.
Ming Rusheng went to Lu Lian. Standing in front of her he pecked on her forehead while cupping her face in his palms and said, “Take care.”
Lu Lian didn’t expect him to do this in front of her family and felt embarrassed but the deed was already done so she could only nod to what he said. She did not dare look at her family members who were equally surprised but stayed quiet.
“I see you out,” she said.
“No need. Just go to your room and rest,” he said and left, leaving her embarrassed once again. Rest? What did she have to rest and what her family will think after hearing it.
‘Just like my brother, this man knows no boundaries,’ Lu Lian sighed inwardly.
Once Ming Rusheng left, Lu Lian awkwardly looked at her family who acted as if they saw or heard nothing while Lu Bao gave her a teasing look.
“I-I will go to my room,” Lu Lian said and no one stopped her.
Reaching her room, Lu Lian gave out a sigh of relief the moment she reached her room and lay in a bed to calm herself down.
In a while, there was a knock on the door of her room and the door opened. Ning Jiahui opened the door and seeing her, Lu Lian immediately sat up in her bed. She didn’t have a good feeling about it. Though her mother has given her freedom and never questioned her about anything, this time she felt anxious about what her mother would say.
“M-Mother….” she didn’t know what to say.
“Sit,” Ning Jiahui instructed.
Lu Lian sat at the edge of the bed while Ning Jiahui sat in the chair opposite to her.
“You were with him last night?” Niag Jiahui asked straightaway.
“Y-Yes, mother,” she replied with her head lowered down.
“You know what I exactly mean, right?” Ning Jiahui asked, “The meaning of being with him.”
Lu Lian looked at her mother and understood what her mother was exactly asking. “Yes, mother.”
“Did you?” Ning Jiahui asked.
Controlling her embarrassed and anxious mind, Lu Lian nodded, “Yes…mother…”
“If you are not planning to marry anytime soon, you should take care of it,” Ning Jiahui said straightaway that Lu Lian understood.
“I already did,” Lu Lian replied, with her head lowered.
Ning Jiahui stood up and went to her daughter as she stood in front of her. She patted her head while she was sitting with her head lowered down.
“I am not here to scold you. I just want you to be careful as you are my daughter,” Ning Jiahui said.
Finally, Lu Lian looked at her and hugged her mother’s waist. The anxiousness she was feeling till now, came out in the form of tears, “Thank you, mother.”
“You two have gone through a difficult phase and I know how much you love him. I am happy that my daughter chose the right man,” Ning Jiahui said.
Lu Lian looked at her mother with her teary eyes, “I am happy that you are my mother.”
Ning Jiahui smiled lightly and wiped the tears from Lu Lian’s cheeks. “You should rest. I will send something good for you to eat.”
Lu Lian could only nod and listen to her mother. Ning Jiahui left while Lu Lian lay back in the bed with a pleasant smile on her face. If her mother didn’t say anything that means her family is fine with everything too.
‘But father? I don’t know what father must think about me. How am I gonna face him? They must have guessed why I was away.’ Lu Lian turned in the bed and buried her face in the pillow, not knowing what to do. Not like she regretted anything as she loved every bit of being with the man she loved.
