When everyone went back to the living room after breakfast, just then they heard a whining sound.
"Ahh…"
"Lu Bao, are you okay?" Lu Lian, who walked with her, asked worriedly and everyone rushed to her.
Lu Bao First breathed deeply a few more times and Lu Lian and Jiang Yuyan helped her walk towards the sofa while others looked worried to think what had happened.
"Shouldn't we take her to the hospital?" Lu Lijun asked.
Lu Bao slowly sat on the sofa and glared at him. "It's because of you."
Lu Lijun was taken aback, "What..did...I do?" There was no way he would argue with the pregnant lady. How did her pain was related to him?
"I told you if you won't tell me about that woman, this curiosity will make me deliver a baby right here," she replied and breathed deeply again.
Lu Lijun looked at his sister in disbelief.
Others didn't know what to say about it and Lu Bao said, "Not just my brother, but this baby seems to trouble me a lot and keeps kicking me even now and then."
"You should be calm," Su Hui said.
"I am calm, mother," Lu Bao lowered her voice and then looked at Lu Lijun, "Promise me you will tell me about her after I deliver a baby. As my reward for promoting you as an uncle."
"We will see."
Lu Bao scoffed, "We will see, huh? I am the one to take so much effort to give you a niece or nephew and you can't even tell me a simple thing."
Lu Lijun felt speechless. The man who was always so good with words couldn't find a word to argue with his pregnant sister and stayed quiet. He knew it was not appropriate to upset her in such a condition.
"I need a promise," Lu Bao insisted.
"Only if she accepts me by then," Lu Lijun replied.
"Accepted," she agreed and then winked at Lu Lian who was surprised with this sudden twist.
Jiang Yuyan felt like running away somewhere. She was about to excuse herself but then heard Grandma, "Why are you standing there Yuyan? Come sit here," Grandma patted the place next to her.
Jiang Yuyan listened and sat beside Grandma. Lu Lijun sat beside Jiang Yuyan without any hesitation as if it was his right to sit next to her all the time. She glared at him and preferred to be quiet in front of family.
"Only these last two days of the week when we all can be together," Elder Lu said. "No one will go out today. We will all be home." No one could disobey grandpa's order.
Lu Boa was smiling and Lian gave her a glare as she whispered, "So you used your baby to get information from your brother."
"That pain was real. I just put it to some good use," Lu Bao replied and Lu Lian just sighed in disbelief.
"Don't poke Lu Lijun much. He is always straightforward and answers directly but if he is hiding it this time that means he has his reasons."
"I know that's why I agreed to his condition."
---------
In the night all the family members were sitting together in the garden.
Lu Lijun's cell phone rang and he excused himself to receive the call, seeing it was jake.
"Yuyan, why are you so calm?" Lu Bao asked.
"I was listening to what you two were talking," she replied, pulling out a light smile.
Soon after Lu Lijun returned and infomed, "I need to go out."
"Is it important?" Elder Lu asked.
Lu Lijun nodded, "Hmm." His sight moved to Jiang Yuyan as it stopped at her for a moment and he said, "I will be back soon."
Jiang Yuyan averted her sight from him as if she had nothing to with whenever he returned.
"Fine then," Grandpa agreed.
Before leaving Lu Lijun looked at Jiang Yuyan for a moment but she didn't look at him. Lu Lijun went inside the mansion to his room to change his clothes.
Just then Jiang Yuyan's cell phone rang and she excused herself to receive it as it was from Xiao Min. Jiang Yuyan talked for a long time as she continued to walk away from the garden.
Lu Lijun came out of the mansion and got the keys of his car from the servant and noticed Jiang Yuyan walking in the direction of the mansion. He stopped and waited for her to approach nearby.
Talking on the call, she noticed Lu Lijun standing near to his car and exactly opposite to her at a distance. She turned but Lu Lijun walked fast and stood up in front of her blocking her way.
Jiang Yuyan hung up the call and first looked at the family members who were sitting in the garden at a distance. She was worried that this guy would do something inappropriate.
As if Lu Lijun understood her thoughts he said, "Don't worry. I like to keep our private things behind the door of our rooms."
She frowned but maintained calm expressions on her face as their family members could see them, "Why did you block my way?"
"Shouldn't my wife ask where I am going at this late hour?" he said.
"None of my business," she replied.
"Then why don't you stop San Zemin's men from following me. If you are so eager to know what I do, you can just ask me," he countered.
"They follow you for your safety. Not just you but they follow every other family member," Jiang Yuyan informed.
"I don't need their protection. If I can fool them so easily, they are of no use."
"You are the smartest one so those poor brains can't compete with yours," Came the sarcastic reply from her.
Lu Lijun smirked, "No doubt that I am the smartest."
"Narcissist!" Jiang Yuyan mumbled under her breath.
"That too. My smart mind gives me a right to be a narcissist," he said.
Jiang Yuyan looked at him in disbelief only to hear one more shocking thing, "Imagine if I am that smart, how smart our kids would be?"
Jiang Yuyan looked at him but she was not angry neither she looked like she had anything to say. Her eyes, which were filled with annoyance a while ago, looked hollow.
Seeing this sudden change in her, Lu Lijun couldn't help but think, 'Did I say something to hurt her?'
"If you are done you can leave," she said and turned to leave.
Lu Lijun didn't dare stop her. 'She was not angry but what was it? Why it felt something that I can't see through her thoughts. Why did she look so blank? Is it because she had lost her baby? Didn't seem like it. There is something more. I need to find it out.'
With so many questions he continued to look at her retreating back for a while and then left after sitting in his car.
