Tang Mo’er’s ears were thrumming at a million miles a second and she was in a state of disbelief, not even knowing how she got out of the cafe in a calm state. The cold wind outside blew at her so strongly, it was as if they were knives piercing her body. Stretching out her arms, she hugged herself to try and give herself some warmth.
At this moment, Su Zhe walked over and passed her a document. “Mo’er, take a look at this. The big boss behind Big Dynasty Entertainment is Gu Mohan. He already took notice of you three years ago and he’s the one who’s been supporting you for the past three years as a rich businessman.”
Su Zhe pointed at the document and flipped some pages.
“This An’an has leukemia. Because of her special health conditions, they haven’t been able to find a match for her. Gu Mohan has been trying to find a woman who can bear a child for him, as he is thinking of using the child’s umbilical cord to save her. When he met you three years ago, Gu Mohan already investigated everything about you and decided it would be you. He wants you to bear the child for him.”
“...”
“Now that you understand what’s going on, you and Lu Qi’er are just supporting characters. Mo’er, can’t you see? Gu Mohan doesn’t love you. The person he loves is someone called An’an.”
Tang Mo’er did not return to her apartment, but wandered outside alone. Her phone rang when the sky turned dark.
Glancing down, the name that popped up on her phone screen made her heart thud—-Gu Mohan. Trying to hold down her panic, she took a deep breath before answering the phone.
“Hello.”
“Where are you now? Why aren’t you home?” The man said a tone that voiced his apparent displeasure.
“I’m at Hua Hai Square. Come and find me.” Tang Mo’er hung up without saying anything further.
Five minutes later, a Rolls-Royce Phantom stopped at the side of the road. Gu Mohan opened the car door, got out and his eyes were drawn almost immediately to Tang Mo’er sitting by the water fountain. The fountain sprayed out water alongside the glimmering neon lights. Tang Mo’er stood alone at the corner, the evening wind blowing against her skirt and her hair saying in the breeze. As she sat alone, hugging herself, her petite figure looked even more desolate and lonely.
Gu Mohan’s heart lurched. Stepping forward, strong and reached out to hug her from behind. His soft, thin lips kissed her hair and he whispered, “What’s wrong? Who has made you unhappy?”
With those broad arms giving her warmth, she could not resist herself and leaned on him. Tang Mo’er looked at the glistening water and said, “Mr Gu, I forgot to tell you that I’m a DINK[1.Dual I come, No Kids]. I don’t plan to have any children.”
Gu Mohan’s body stiffened. Two seconds later, his palms pressed on her shoulders and made her turn towards him. His narrow eyes seemed to see right through her, staring straight into her soul. “You went to the cafe today?”
