Chapter 1042 - Sitting Beside Her

Chapter 1042: Sitting Beside Her

That stalker was actually Gu Mohan’s good friend?

Lin Shiyu felt uncomfortable inside, but she still hid away her feelings behind a forced smile. “Hello, Mr Gu, Mr Smithson.”

Lin Shiyu then looked at Tang Mo’er. “Mo’er, let’s go.”

“Okay.”

...

Lin Shiyu left, leaving only her beautiful back view for Fu Qinglun. Fu Qinglun hadn’t averted his gaze even after she was gone, his gaze fixated on the same spot.

Even at five months pregnant, she didn’t look like she had gained any weight. Her limbs were slender and her skin radiant, other than that little bump hidden underneath her dress.

She had a pointy bump, it wasn’t huge, but was more dainty and invited the doting of everyone she knew.

Over the past five months, she had gone for regular prenatal checkups at the hospital, with every test result being delivered to Fu Qinglun. The baby and her were both healthy.

He wanted to hug her.

He wanted to touch her bump so badly.

A deep, magnetic voice resounded in his ear. “Stop looking, she’s gone already. Besides, even if you keep looking, you can’t lay your hands on her at all.”

Fu Qinglun turned his head, only to see Gu Mohan speak so nonchalantly. He stretched his leg out to give Gu Mohan a kick—-Are you even my bro? Why aren’t you helping me get my wife back?

A footprint appeared on Gu Mohan’s trousers, but he dismissed it without further thought. Noticing Fu Qinglun’s new fringe perm, he continued saying, “Wow, you even did your hair?”

Upon hearing his teasing, Fu Qinglun shot a glare in his direction. “You’re jealous that I’m more handsome than you?”

Gu Mohan raised his wine glass, taking a sip. “I don’t see anyone more handsome than me here, but there sure is someone who’s bullshitting here.”

Fu Qinglun had no time to continue arguing with him. “Call your wife and ask her, how does Shi’shi feel about me?”

Gu Mohan took out his phone from his pocket. “You’re going in circles without achieving anything. Now that your wife is finally pregnant, you lost her.”

Gu Mohan dialed Tang Mo’er’s number.

...

In another room. Tang Mo’er and Lin Shiyu sat on the sofa.

Tang Mo’er hadn’t forgotten about her mission. She looked at Lin Shiyu, testing the waters. “Shiyu, what do you think about Mr Smithson?”

Lin Shiyu peeled an orange, it was right in season. She loved the sweet and citrusy flavor.

“What do you mean?” Lin Shiyu popped a piece of the orange into her mouth. “Mo’er, are you trying to be a matchmaker today? You asked me out so that you can introduce me to that Mr Smithson?”

Lin Shiyu was an intelligent woman, one look and she could tell Tang Mo’er’s intentions. There was no way to hide it from her.

“Shiyu, I think Mr Smithson is a good catch. He’s young, handsome, gentlemanly and wealthy. What’s most important is that he’s still single.”

Lin Shiyu took another piece of orange. “Why is he still single despite having such good qualities? Does he have some other flaws?”

“Mo’er, whose gambling chips are these?” Lin Shiyu asked.

Tang Mo’er waved her hand casually. “It’s yours, you can just spend it.”

“...”

Lin Shiyu widened her eyes at Tang Mo’er. —-Are you crazy?

In the end she figured it wouldn’t hurt if she borrowed those gambling chips first. She could always return them later.

But things didn’t go as planned, she had lost all three rounds.

“Haha, Shiyu, you lost money again.” Tang Mo’er stood up, taking away more than half of the gambling chips in front of Lin Shiyu.

How had she lost so much? She really didn’t know how to gamble.

“How much did I lose?”

A businessman looked at Lin Shiyu, raising five fingers.

“Five million dollars?”

The businessman shook his head. “No, it’s 50 million dollars.”

5-50 million dollars?!

Lin Shiyu’s pupils contracted once she heard that and she felt a bit faint.

“Young Master, you came just in time. Someone helped you lose your money. That’s 50 million dollars.”

Lin Shiyu looked sideways and saw a tall figure approach. It was Fu Qinglun.

Those gambling chips belonged to him?

She had lost 50 million dollars worth of his gambling chips?!

Lin Shiyu knitted her brows, feeling like she had somehow fallen into an elaborate trap.

Fu Qinglun walked over, placing one hand on the back of Lin Shiyu’s seat as he looked at her from above. “Continue.”

He wanted her to continue gambling.

“I don’t know how to play, I shouldn’t continue.” Lin Shiyu wanted to get up.

The corners of Fu Qinglun’s lips quirked up. “You want to return me the money so urgently?”

“...”

Lin Shiyu mentally totalled the balance of all her bank accounts, even after adding them all up it didn’t amount to 50 million dollars.

She felt a corner of her seat sinking, Fu Qinglun just sat beside her, taking her cards. “Let me teach you how to play.”

Lin Shiyu could smell that clean, masculine scent he emanated. It smelled so good, and was even strangely addictive.

She could see his large hand. It was fair and beautiful, his fingers long and slender while his shirt sleeves wrapped around his strong forearm. An expensive watch adorned his wrist, he looked really good.

This man exuded the aura of those in the high society, from his good looks down to his immaculate dressing. She could tell that he enjoyed a high quality of life.
