“Seventh Brother, shall we take action?”
Mu Sijue looked at Xu Youning through the telescope and didn’t speak for quite some time.
The telescope was a high-end and expensive equipment. By adjusting the angle, he could even see every subtle expression on Xu Youning’s face.
From the moment they walked out of the outpatient building, Xu Youning had been holding Mumu’s hand. She followed Kang Ruicheng with a bland look as if she was not expecting anything.
Mu Sijue suddenly remembered the period when Xu Youning worked undercover with him.
At that time, Xu Youning was young and fearless. Her eyes were firm and there was always a smile on her face. She had never stopped racing ahead.
What Mu Sijue liked were Xu Youning’s endless courage and vitality.
However, he did not protect her well.
Her vitality had been worn away little by little after she went back to Kang Ruicheng. What supported her now could only be courage.
If Mu Sijue chose to save Xu Youning and bring her back, she might be able to regain her vigor.
But Mu Sijue had to admit that he was not 100% sure.
He might fail in his attempt due to Kang Ruicheng’s extreme vigilance.
Mu Sijue could put up with one failure, but Xu Youning couldn’t.
Ah Jin had sent an email to Mu Sijue after he arrived in Country C, which stated that Xu Youning had sneaked into Kang Ruicheng’s study and was found by Kang Ruicheng.
Although Mumu had helped Xu Youning out, Kang Ruicheng became suspicious of her. That’s why Kang Ruicheng had made an appointment at the gynaecologist for Xu Youning to check if she was lying.
Mu Sijue repeatedly told the doctor who saw Xu Youning that he had to help her win Kang Ruicheng’s trust.
This test, which showed whether the child had any signs of life, should be able to dispel half of Kang Ruicheng’s suspicion.
If he confronted Kang Ruicheng rashly and failed, everything the doctor had done would be in vain and Kang Ruicheng would doubt Xu Youning even more.
After all, as far as Kang Ruicheng could see, Xu Youning not only misunderstood and betrayed Mu Sijue, she even aborted an innocent little life.
How could he still care about Xu Youning if it weren’t for something else?
Mu Sijue wouldn’t take action unless he was 100% sure. Xu Youning would not want him to do it either.
Seeing Mu Sijue remaining silent, the Captain became even more anxious and his palms were sweating. “Seventh Brother, we don’t have much time. We need your decision!”
Through the telescope, Mu Sijue could see that Kang Ruicheng and Xu Youning had arrived at the parking lot.
Kang Ruicheng’s subordinate drove the car over immediately. Kang Ruicheng opened the door and shielded Xu Youning and Mumu as they got into the car.
Xu Youning was very cooperative. She didn’t even look around. She got into the car calmly and closed the door.
The windows were specially designed which prevented others from looking in from the outside. Therefore, Mu Sijue was unable to see Xu Youning no matter how he adjusted the telescope.
Mu Sijue slowly put down his hands and moved away from the telescope.
Almost at the same time, Kang Ruicheng’s car started and left the hospital, escorted by five or six cars.
The Captain became even more anxious. He clenched his fists and almost stamped his feet. “Seventh Brother, this is the last chance. Make a decision!”
Although Xu Youning had left the hospital, as long as she had not returned to Kang Ruicheng’s house, they could still take action.
They were very good at conducting raids.
It all depended on Mu Sijue’s decision!
Mu Sijue closed the curtains, obstructing the view of the telescope. He ordered, “Call Fang Heng to come over. I have something to ask him.”
Fang Heng was the doctor that Mu Sijue planted in the Eighth People’s Hospital for Xu Youning’s appointment.
The Captain didn’t understand Mu Sijue. He asked, “What about Ms. Xu? We will not be saving her?”
Through the curtains, Mu Sijue could vaguely see the tall modern buildings outside but he already lost sight of Kang Ruicheng’s car.
He clenched his fists slightly and said after a few seconds, “We will save her, but we need an appropriate time.”
The Captain was unwilling to give up so easily, but he soon realized that Mu Sijue was the person who would have wanted to save Xu Youning the most. There must be a reason for his decision.
The only thing they could do was to trust Mu Sijue.
“I see.” The Captain nodded. “I’ll contact Dr. Fang right away.”
Fang Heng soon came over from the Eighth People’s Hospital.
He took off his white gown and changed into an elegant cashmere coat with a chic scarf, which made him look like a childe rather than a doctor.
Mu Sijue glanced at Fang Heng and asked him to take a seat.
Fang Heng sat down and looked at Mu Sijue in surprise. “You didn’t go after Xu Youning?”
Mu Sijue ignored Fang Heng’s surprise, and without any pretence at subtlety said, “I want to know the results of Youning’s examination.”
Fang Heng’s expression grew solemn. “Are you ready for the bad news?” he asked.
“Get to the point!” Mu Sijue froze. His words contained an undertone of warning.
Fang Heng told Mu Sijue frankly. “Kang Ruicheng has taken Xu Youning to do an examination before. Today she accepted a second one. I compared the results and found her condition has worsened.”
Though it was as they expected, Mu Sijue still couldn’t digest the news all at once.
He remembered Xu Youning’s calm look just now.
No one was born calm. There were countless formidable experiences behind a person’s calmness.
How much pain did Xu Youning go through that she could face her condition so calmly?
Mu Sijue’s heart tightened. He felt like someone was burning his heart with a torch until his entire heart melted.
Fang Heng didn’t know if it was his illusion, but he seemed to see a hint of pain between Mu Sijue’s eyebrows.
Alas, it seemed like a joke that Mu Sijue would suffer pain.
But now, it really happened!
Fang Heng wanted to study Mu Sijue’s expression for a little longer, but his conscience told him not to. He changed the subject and said, “However, I also have good news—the baby is very healthy.”
This was absolutely not good news for Mu Sijue. On the contrary, it was like adding fuel to the fire. The flame burned more furiously on his heart, intensifying his pain.
Fang Heng didn’t expect his words to have such an effect. He touched his nose and continued, “I will take the reports to the private hospital and discuss the treatment plan with other doctors.”
Though Xu Youning had a slim chance of recovery, the doctors would try their best and then leave it to fate.
After a long time, Mu Sijue finally calmed down and asked, “Is there anything unusual about Xu Youning in the hospital today?”
“No, not at all.” Fang Heng rubbed his temples, seeming to have a headache, or probably just sighing. “She’s more cautious than I’d imagined.”
Xu Youning looked like a careless person. But in fact, she would notice every detail every time.
It was reasonable that she treated Fang Heng cautiously under such circumstances.
A faint smile appeared on Mu Sijue’s face. He continued to ask, “What about you? Did you give her any hint?”
“I did twice,” Fang Heng said as he raised two fingers. “I told her that she still had a chance to survive and I could help her. When I prescribed her medicine, I specially mentioned that the medicine has no side effects and is good for her.”
Mu Sijue gave Fang Heng a satisfied look. “Did she respond to what you said?” he asked.
Fang Heng shrugged helplessly, “She was too cautious. She didn’t react at all. Just glanced at me a few more times.”
Mu Sijue’s face darkened and he stared at Fang Heng intently.
Fang Heng noticed the warning signs and quickly explained, “Don’t worry. Xu Youning is definitely not interested in me. She should have her doubts about me.”
“You think too much. I’m not worried at all,” Mu Sijue said while glancing at Fang Heng. “Xu Youning would never be interested in you.”
Fang Heng was speechless. “Damn, that hurts,” he thought.
Mu Sijue suddenly remembered what Fang Heng had said. He frowned and asked, “Fang Heng, what medicine did you give to her?”
Fang Heng clenched his fist and coughed slightly. “Just vitamin pills, though the name on the bottle seems a little scary. But, they don’t look like vitamin pills, or Kang Ruicheng might discover it. Don’t worry. I got it.”
Mu Sijue had taken Xu Youning to do an antenatal test once where the doctor had warned her specifically that she couldn’t take any form of drugs.
Xu Youning would not have taken the pills that Fang Heng gave to her if she did not suspect that Mu Sijue had planted Fang Heng in the hospital.
However, Kang Ruicheng might watch her personally to make sure she took the medicine.
At that time, if Xu Youning hesitated, Kang Ruicheng would be suspicious of her.
Mu Sijue’s frown deepened. “Why did you prescribe her that?” he asked.
He just told Fang Heng to raise Xu Youning’s hopes.
No matter how bad the examination results were, Fang Heng would tell Xu Youning that she had a chance of recovery.
Mu Sijue didn’t want Xu Youning to give up any hopes of living.
“It would be weird if I told her she might recover but did not give her anything. I should at least prescribe her some medicine,” Fang Heng said. He smiled mysteriously after a pause. “And if Xu Youning finds the medicine is just vitamins, she will know that I’m on your side.”
“She’d better find out,” Mu Sijue retorted, narrowing his eyes.
Fang Heng shrugged optimistically—he believed Xu Youning would discover his trick.
However, Mu Sijue’s face tensed up. He was not optimistic about the situation at all.
Would Xu Youning find out that Fang Heng had given her vitamin pills and guess everything?
If she did, would everything get better?
