Chapter 28 - Almost dying

Right before she fainted, a thought flashed through her mind. Were all the kidnappers these days so unmerciful towards the fairer sex?

When Gu Wanqing woke up, she found herself in a warehouse.

The warehouse was very large and dark. There was only a single dim yellow light that illuminated the area an inch below his feet.

Directly in front of her was a camera.

Gu Wanqing suddenly thought of a horror movie. Just as she was racking her brains to recall it, the incandescent lamp suddenly lit up.

A few men walked in with cigarettes in their mouths. They puffed out clouds of smoke as they stared at Gu Wanqing with dirty, naked eyes.

"You didn't capture the wrong person, right?" one of the men asked.

Someone replied, "That's her!"

"Pretty." The man licked his lips.

Several men laughed.

Gu Wanqing stared at them, her voice calm. "Who is your boss?"

The man took a long drag on his cigarette. "How can I tell you that?"

"How much did he give you?" "No matter how much it is, I'll pay double."

"What big words you have there!" A man said in surprise, scratching Gu Wanqing from head to toe with his eyes and laughing out loud. "She promised us more than just money!"

"So you don't want to offend her?" Gu Wanqing asked.

"You could say that." A man with a scar on his face said, "We brothers originally didn't like this sort of thing, but if you have to blame someone, then blame yourself for offending someone you shouldn't have offended."

"What does she want you to do?"

The man pointed at the camera in front of him. "Same old set."

Other than Zhang Ruqing, she couldn't think of a second person who could come up with such a sinister move.

"Ladies and gentlemen, can we discuss this?" Gu Wanqing tried to make a last stand. "Is there any compromise that can allow you to complete the task without having to face the crime of murder?"

A man froze for a moment and said, "We're not going to kill you."

"Even though you said that, but think about it, as a girl with a yellow flower, if I really encountered such a thing, I would definitely commit suicide in the end. Wouldn't you all be carrying a life?"

"…"

The men looked at each other, as if they didn't think about it.

Seeing that there was hope, Gu Wanqing quickly added, "I promise I can find a way to help both of you receive the money without violating your own conscience."

"What method?"

Gu Wanqing was about to speak when the vault door of the warehouse opened and a woman walked in. "What are you all waiting for?"

Gu Wanqing looked at her, her expression changing. "It's you?"

"Miss Gu, long time no see." Yin Jia said with a smile.

"…" Gu Wanqing was silent for a moment before she suddenly said, "Is the person who sent me the text also you?"

Yin Jia didn't reply. Her eyes turned cold as she ordered the men, "Move quickly. Don't create unnecessary trouble!"

The few men quickly answered. Yin Jia adjusted the camera and walked out of the warehouse.

Seeing the men closing in on her, Gu Wanqing was so afraid that she almost jumped out of her skin.

"Miss Gu, I'll give you a word of advice. Don't struggle and don't suffer too much." The man casually threw the cigarette in the corner.

Gu Wanqing struggled in panic. One of her feet accidentally knocked a bottle off the floor, causing her to slip and fall off her chair.

"Don't come near me!" Gu Wanqing screamed.

The knife-scarred man held her arm while his other hand grabbed onto her collar. The buttons on the collar cracked open, revealing her snow-white skin.

"Truly a top-notch item!" A man was drooling as he said, "Boss, should you go first, or should we go together?"

"Let's attack together. Let's not waste anymore time."

As they spoke, the men rushed towards Gu Wanqing to untie the ropes on her hands. They rubbed the ropes until they were rough. She pinched her skin.

The stench of smoke in the man's mouth almost made Gu Wanqing faint. She struggled continuously, her nails scratching a few wounds on her arm. The man gave her a slap.

In the midst of her panic, Gu Wanqing smelled a strange scent slowly spreading in the air.

The smell was familiar, almost covering her entire childhood and youth.

Gasoline.

Gu Wanqing opened her eyes. The flames that had sprung up in front of her eyes moved slowly along the path of the gasoline.

"F * ck, boss, it's on fire!" Finally, someone noticed.

The knife-scarred man woke up as if he had just woken up from a dream. He didn't care about anything else as he left Gu Wanqing behind and started to extinguish the fire in a flustered manner.

There was a lot of combustible materials in the warehouse. With the help of gasoline, the fire was getting bigger and bigger.

Seeing that the fire could not be extinguished, a man anxiously said, "Boss, let's run!"

"Let's go!" The knife-scarred man gave the order, and the others all ran out in drool.

Gu Wanqing held onto a pillar tightly, unwilling to let go.

"F * ck your mother! Do you really want to die? I'm not willing to accompany you!" The knife-scarred man cursed and ran away, leaving Gu Wanqing behind.

Gu Wanqing had her eyes closed. Her tears had just spilled out when they were evaporated by the scorching air.

In the firelight, she could see her mother's gentle face.

The next second, the face was engulfed in flames.

Gu Wanqing looked at her home as it slowly turned blurry in the fire. She could hear the screams in the house rising and falling, piercing her eardrums as she sank into the abyss.

"Mom!" Gu Wanqing cried her heart out, but all she could do was watch her family leave.

The most painful thing in the world is life and death.

Even though she was only in her twenties, she had already experienced a lot of hardships in life. She said goodbye to her loved ones and loved them, and from then on, she would walk alone in this vast world.

The thick smoke entered Gu Wanqing's nose, causing her to choke and feel pain in her lungs.

Gu Wanqing thought vaguely that she was really going to die this time.

Not bad, after struggling for so many years, death was the only destination.

It was a pity that she still could not find out the truth. Her parents had died an unknown death. When she died, she also used another person's name.

By the way, what was her original name?

After so many years, Gu Wanqing could barely remember it herself.

Her name was Luo Li.

Her mother told her that Li was a beautiful jade, a beautiful jade covered in dust. One day, it would illuminate all the dark corners of the world.

But before she could wipe the dust off her body, she was going to die.

Before Gu Wanqing lost her consciousness, she suddenly realized that she had not had the time to seek justice from that scoundrel Rong.

The scumbag had caused her to die without leaving a corpse. Even if she became a ghost, she wouldn't let him off!

"I can't die, I can't die!" She really couldn't take it anymore when she thought about how she had to die because of a stupid decision she made to kill her mother.

Gu Wanqing struggled to open her stinging eyes, trying to find a way to escape.

She didn't want to die, at least not now.

She didn't know if it was her imagination, but she heard someone calling her name in the fire.

"Gu Wanqing, Gu Wanqing, where are you?" Her voice gradually became clearer. Through the thick smoke, she could vaguely see the shadow of a person moving about.
