Chapter 498: The Fifth Origin Eldritch Field (1)
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh! Jiang Huan, the white-robed youth, led the way, and Wu Yuan and the black-robed Chang Hong followed behind. The trio swiftly departed the hall.
After passing through a corridor, they soon arrived at a small teleportation array not far from the hall.
The array was entirely silver, towering a hundred li high. Its surface was engraved with countless cryptic patterns, and it exuded an air of mystery.
“A teleportation array?” Wu Yuan hesitated slightly.
“Junior Brother,” Jiang Huan spoke gently, as though Wu Yuan was his younger brother. “According to our master’s tradition of teaching disciples, we will first head to the Origin Eldritch Field.”
Origin Eldritch Field? Wu Yuan grew even more puzzled.
“Junior Brother, I’m guessing you didn’t grow up within the eight hundred eldritch divine nations,” Chang Hong suddenly chimed in.
“No,” Wu Yuan shook his head.
There was no need to hide it.
In the Bloodforge Spacetime, he was known only by a code number, his true identity unknown to outsiders.
However, the news of his outstanding performance in the Bloodforge Battle within the Silvermist Division had spread across the Silvermist Immortal Nation’s territory, spanning tens of millions of light years. Numerous Archimmortals and Astral Lords would have received the news.
Even the Devil Sovereign had heard a thing or two.
If the Voltari Temple wanted to investigate him, they could certainly find out—there was no way to hide it.
Master Kua Chi hadn’t asked him to conceal his name either.
“In the Eldritch World, whether it’s among the eight hundred eldritch divine nations or the four million eldritch continents under their rule, every eldritch tribe is registered under an incredibly sophisticated genius selection mechanism, which identifies individuals with a certain level of talent.” Senior Brother Jiang Huan explained.
“For instance, those at the Spiritual Body or Golden Core phase who can pass level seven of the Eldritch Deity Tower or have a second-degree eldritch root, will be directly sent to the Origin Eldritch Field to receive the finest training in the entire eldritch world.”
"The Eternal Sun Immortal World and Desolation Divine Court headquarters have numerous subordinate factions, making the selection of disciples highly cumbersome and bureaucratic. However, it is not the case for us." Jiang Huan patiently explained.
"Our Eldritch World is considered the most united among the seven major factions of the macrocosm."
Wu Yuan couldn't help but marvel inwardly.
This talent selection system was closer to the ideology that "everyone is a dragon" than the Eternal Sun Immortal World. It wasn't the "primitive cultivation” school of thought Wu Yuan had imagined.
In the Eternal Sun Immortal World, countless subordinate factions and immortal nations clashed constantly over resources, with numerous Archimmortals and Astral Lords each harboring their own agendas.
Many geniuses were suppressed internally, and some were even killed.
However, Wu Yuan also understood that even if the Cang Feng Eldritch World was truly united, it was likely more out of external pressures than an intrinsic aversion to internal conflict.
"Our master's gifts are just one aspect. Don't grow complacent because of them. If you want more resources, you must work hard!"
"Thank you for your counsel, Senior Brother," Wu Yuan said respectfully. He knew very well that Senior Brother Jiang Huan was one of the most terrifying geniuses in the entire Eldritch World.
Though he called him ‘Senior Brother’, Jiang Huan would quickly ascend to become an Astral Monarch the moment he overcame his Tribulation.
Moreover, as someone who was teaching him in place of their master, Jiang Huan deserved utmost respect.
"Junior Brother Chang Hong, are you heading straight back now, or would you like to check out our Junior Brother’s place?" Jiang Huan turned his gaze to Chang Hong.
"No need, Senior Brother, I’m heading straight back." The black-robed youth Chang Hong cast a cold glance at Wu Yuan, "Little Junior Brother, our Senior Brother is kind-hearted and avoids saying things that might pressure you."
"But I, too, am your Senior Brother, and I'll give you some earnest advice. Although outsiders do not know we're disciples of the Eldritch Sovereign, we must be clear of this ourselves."
"Ordinary geniuses of the Eldritch World might choose to break through when opportunities arise or when their cultivation time is up, and no one will question them."
"But for us disciples of the Eldritch Sovereign, starting from the Shambhala phase, there are two unspoken criteria to meet if you wish to break through." Chang Hong said coldly.
"Senior Brother, please elaborate," Wu Yuan maintained a calm exterior.
"First, you must become the undisputed top genius of your present Origin Eldritch Field," Chang Hong said.
"Second, you must achieve the legendary-rank in the Eldritch-Immortal Battlefield at the corresponding level."
"Only by meeting these two conditions can you break through and enter the next Origin Eldritch Field," Chang Hong said with a frosty expression.
"Thank you for the guidance, Senior Brother," Wu Yuan nodded.
"Senior Brother, I'm heading back now. If you need anything, just call me." Chang Hong cupped his hands toward Jiang Huan and then stepped directly into the teleportation array.
In a burst of light, the black-robed Chang Hong disappeared without a trace.
"Little Junior Brother, don't mind Senior Brother Chang Hong's attitude. That's just his personality, and besides, he is indeed different from you," Jiang Huan said with a smile.
"I can sense that Senior Brother Chang Hong bears no ill will toward me," Wu Yuan shook his head and then asked curiously, "How are we different?"
"Mm." Jiang Huan smiled, "Chang Hong was born in a worldlet."
"Due to the Immortal Court's wars, the worldlet was destroyed. He barely escaped death, struggling through countless hardships before he was chosen for the Origin Eldritch Field."
"From the Fourth Origin Eldritch Field, then the Third, he rose to fame step by step. At each stage, he reached the legendary-rank on the Eldritch-Immortal Battlefield, slaughtering countless foes and making his name known across many war zones.
"Deep in his heart, he despises those with noble bloodlines."
"Ultimately, he was accepted as a disciple by our master, which is why he values this identity immensely," Jiang Huan continued with a smile. "But you and I, we were taken in as disciples at the Spiritual Body phase."
"We don't know your origins, but Junior Brother Chang Hong likely guesses that you're not from the eldritch world. You might be a bloodline descendant of some super powerhouse, maybe even from another macrocosm."
