CH.37 The Aftermath
I get up off the ground, leaving the, now not so empty on mana, teacher laying there. We might need to do some damage control if that spell really did affect the entire estate.
“I think we should call your father.” I said to Alice. “System support said to me that your spell affected the entire estate. I think everyone might be in a bit of a panic.”
“Would it really do that much?” Alice asked. “It was just a little darker for a bit.”
“You forget that for the rest of us it was pitch black. We couldn’t see anything.” I reminded her.
“Oh...” She was dumbfounded by the power of her spell again.
I walk up to Jenna and try to shake her out of her shock.
“Hello. Are you alright?” I ask her while shaking her lightly.
“...oh... Lord Brian. Wh... What’s going on?” She asked with a shaky voice.
“A spell went a little overboard. Could you go get the baron and Henry?” I asked her.
“A spell? But sir Trystan should not be able to use dark magic. Was it one of yours Lord Brian?” She asked.
“No. Alice casted it.” I told her. “That’s why we need the baron here.”
“Miss Alice did? But...”
“I know it’s her first time. Again, that’s why we need the baron here.” I told her again.
“Yes, I’ll go get him.” Jenna turned around and headed into the manor.
I walk back to Alice.
“So, how are you feeling?” I asked her.
“I... I’m not sure.” Alice said.
“Well you did just cast your first spell ever, right? Makes sense it would take a while to come to terms with it.” I said to her.
“Well that too. But... Did I really make the house so dark that no one could see anything?”
“Yes, you did. I think someone who could use light or fire magic could use it to see, but otherwise they are kind of out of luck.”
“But... How is that possible? I... I’ve never done it before.” Alice mumbled.
“I think that’s why you did it. You really wanted to succeed and you put too much power into the spell.” I told her.
“Well you didn’t consider one thing.” I said to him and placed Dark Magician Girl onto my DiaDhank. “I summon Dark Magician Girl.”
The usual card appeared in the air this time and from it a female magician with blond hair descended. She was dressed in a blue and pink robe and had a staff in her hand.
As she floated down to the ground, Brandon’s jaw dropped open. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Well she is really cute. Now I need to get a robe like that for Alice and they will look like sisters. I wonder if I could do that by analyzing her robe with the Founder’s terminal.
“Thank you for summoning me, Master.” Dark Magician Girl greeted me.
“Sorry to summon you like this.” I told her. “I don’t really have much for you to do. I just wanted to prove that moron wrong.”
“That’s fine, Master. I really wanted to get to know our little mage over there.” Dark Magician Girl said and made her way to Alice. Calling Alice ‘little’ might be insulting, but I guess if we are talking about experience. Well DMG is also taller than Alice.
“WHAT IS THAT?!” Brandon asked me with a yell.
“Dark Magician Girl.” I answered him. “A monster I summoned. Also a female magician with blond hair.”
“WHY?! Why didn’t you tell me you could do something like that?” Brandon argued.
“I have no reason to tell you all of my secrets. You really have been going down in the trust department since we left the dungeon yesterday.” I told him.
“What have I done?”
“You’ve been a terrible father to Alice.” I answered him. “You’ve let the prophecy dictate her life, not allowing her to do any of the normal things she should.”
“I’ve raised her to be a great magician. That will make her perfect.”
“Perfect for you to use as a pawn.” I told him. “You don’t actually care about Alice at all. You only see her as a tool you can use to fulfill the prophecy.”
“And what’s wrong with that?”
“And this is why I call you things like ‘shit father’.” Well this was the first time I actually called him that. I’ve been trying to be respectful to him, but no more. He really just has gone too far. Why are the leaders of this town mad? First the guild master and now him.
“I’m a great father to Alice. I pay for her to have one of the best magic teachers in the country. And now that has paid off. The spell she used was wonderful. As soon as she learns some other spells, she will be ready for the behemoth.” Brandon said, continuing his useless rambling.
“And what will you do if Alice can’t cast a spell again?” Not that I’m going to do it, but I could remove Mystic Plasma Zone from Alice. After that, she shouldn’t be able to use magic anymore.
“She has done it once, so she can do it again.” Brandon said to me. Well normally yes, but in this case no.
“Sure, go ahead and think like that.” I think back to the promise Alice made me when I installed Mystic Plasma Zone. If she breaks it, I would have a reason to remove her attribute. Or go back to that kidnapping idea. I think that might be better. “But I’m telling you Alice might be a special case. After all, it took her a long time to learn a spell.”
“That doesn’t matter. Alice will cast a spell again. RIGHT NOW!” Brandon yelled out and pushed me to the side to make his way over to Alice.
He is quickly stomping his way towards Alice, ready to... well I don’t know what he will do, but I’m not going to wait to find out.
“Dark Magician Girl! Stop HIM!” I order my summon.
