CH.150 Hunting Blood
After the Threatening Roar, the battle was ours to win. While Alice may have been the first to recover, everyone else quickly came to their senses just after her and took advantage of the stunned state of the orcs to attack them with powerful attacks, taking down all four orcs that were outside of the hole.
As for the ones in the hole, Vivien and Paulina used water magic to freeze them before Paulina used Earth Control to raise them out of the hole, while also refilling the hole.
They then melted the ice around the neck area of the orcs a bit, slicing their necks, allowing for Lua to use blood magic to drain out all the blood in the orcs, leaving them dead.
Lua was storing the blood in big wooden barrels. They seemed to hold about 50 liters of blood each and from the eight orcs, she managed to fill up one and got the second one a little over half full. I guess a monster of that size would have over ten liters of blood in their body. Even with the blood that drained into the ground from the orc that was hit in the head and the neck bite from Flower Wolf, we still got blood from those two. I must have overreacted when I saw the blood gushing out.
I also noticed something loose swinging around in my left sleeve. It was the toploader Threatening Roar. It seemed to have popped out of my shoulder and slid down my arm. Luckily, I had my sleeve down as far as I could without it interfering with my duel disk, so the card stayed in my sleeve. I made sure to throw the card back into collection. I also put the Vampire Lord that I never had a chance to summon back there. Sorry, but you will have to wait until we get to the village. I also unsummoned Millennium Shield and Flower Wolf and placed it back in the collection.
“What do you think? Is that enough?” I asked Lua.
“... no. Not really.” She answered. “I’d at least like to have two full ones, but three would be better. I actually have four in total and getting all of them filled up wouldn’t be a bad thing.”
“I did spot some D-rank boar monsters during the scouting flight. We could go hunt some of them.” I said. “There are also the wyverns, but considering the number of them that died in Alewatch, it might be better to not hunt them again at this time.”
“Hmm. Forest boars, right? I guess they will work.” Lua said.
We had a little talk with everyone, but as Saber Fang still had to dismantle the ‘settlement’ so that no other monsters would take it over, it would be our team that continues the blood hunt.
“So, how will we travel? I can’t summon Gradius yet and there really isn’t even enough space to summon it here.” I said to Lua.
“Walk? Isn’t that the usual?” Lua responded.
“Takes too long. We would have to walk for over an hour. And it is away from the carriage.” I said.
“Then just do what you always do and summon something.” Lua said.
“Yeah, I just have no idea what.” I admitted. There is also the problem with sleeves. I do have some LOB trash I can get rid of, but not that much.
“Can’t you just summon a dragon to ride?” Tye asked, having overheard our conversation.
“Well yes, but they tend to cause panic so I usually avoid them.” I said. “Gradius is better as people have no idea what it is so they don’t get scared.”
Perfect example of human curiosity right there. Dragon = Scary. Spaceship = Unknown. But shouldn't the unknown be scary? Well, I guess for some. For others, the unknown is an opportunity to learn.
(You could also summon Dark Magician and Vampire Lord. They can just carry you two while they fly using magic.) Laura said.
Oh. Yeah. I’ve not tried that, but that does sound like an idea.
(You could also summon Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV4.) Laura said. (I believe if you can get it to activate its effect by having it kill a monster, it should evolve into the LV6 form. And then you repeat the process with it, you can get the LV8 form that you wanted.)
(... Does it work that way?) I wondered. (I thought I would need to have one to summon one. But then again, Paladin of White Dragon just made a new Blue-Eyes, instead of summoning one that I already had in the collection.)
(As you deduced, I believe the LV4 will sacrifice itself and create a LV6 that will come in a sleeve, as it is special summoned by an effect. The same will go for the LV8 version. But if you want one in a toploader, you might need to summon it with the Level Up! spell card.) Laura said. (And of course you would need to pull one from the packs first.)
Ah. Yeah. I need to figure out a way of removing the inherent sleeves from special summons. Well, later is fine.
“I have something we can use. It is a dragon but it is on the smaller side.” I said to Lua. “Hopefully it won’t be seen from too far away.”
“Sure, let’s use it.” Lua agreed.
I have to say, I was surprised that Alice didn’t even ask to come with me this time. She usually does. And with Paulina here, I don’t have to worry about leaving her alone with ‘strangers’ and Alex.
“Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV4.” I said to summon our ride.

I have to say, Horus (at least LV4 Horus) looks a lot more like a bird than a dragon. Like come on. It clearly looks like a mechanical bird, right?
And as expected, it was quite small. Only about 5 meters from head to tail. But then again, it barely has a tail. I’m sorry, but it is the truth. You only get a tail at LV6 or LV8, so we better evolve you so you have one.
“I guess it really is small compared to your other dragons.” Lua said. “Still not as small as the one you used in that duel.”
“Well, my Toon Dragon is a bit special. LV4 Horus is a lot more average.” I said. “We will meet up with you back at the carriages.”
We climbed onto Horus’ back and I had Horus take flight.
“Man, I wish I had a dragon to summon.” Tye said, looking at Brian and Lua flying off.

Everyone did as I ordered and we secured about 10 liters of blood from the first boar. So we need ten to fill up two barrels.
I looked at LV4 Horus, but it didn’t seem to start evolving.
“Let’s do that again, please.” I ordered.
After about ten minutes and three more boars, I felt a reaction from LV4 Horus on my duel disk. I looked at the dragon flying in the sky and it was covered in a dark flame.
I’m suddenly really glad that I’m not riding on it.
After a few seconds, the dark flames dissipated and my new and evolved dragon floated where its smaller counterpart had just been.

I looked at my duel disk and saw that the LV4 Horus had disappeared. In its place now stood Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV6.
LV6 Horus was a lot larger than the LV4 had been. About nine meters from head to butt. I won’t count its tail, as unlike the LV4, LV6 actually has a long tail.
The new LV6 Horus card also had an orange sleeve around it. So it is as Laura predicted. But I do still wonder, why did it take 4 boars? Are these boars just too weak? They might be.
(There could also be a time lag between the kill and the evolution. The cards do mention an ‘End Phase’.) Laura said. (It did take exactly 10 minutes from the first boar kill to the evolution.)
(Okay. I see. Well then, let’s test it out.)
“Paladin, one more boar. Horus, take it down. Vampire Lord, stop flirting with Lua, you have blood to take care of.” I ordered my summons.
“I find that offensive, Master. I wasn’t flirting. I was simply making sure she is fine, as you haven’t given me an opportunity to do that.” Vampire Lord defended himself.
During the wait, I decided to test Swords of Revealing Light a bit more. Mainly, would it freeze me and my monsters. It should only work on my opponents, so we should be safe.
I almost just walked in myself, but Laura told me to stop. She didn’t want to risk me freezing like the boars did.
I ended up summoning the Fire Sorcerer that I once fused with Jenna. She hadn’t seen action since that day and did voice a small complaint about it. I’m sorry. I just have too many monsters. I need a place where I can just summon them for no reason other than to summon them.
(I do have an idea for that.) Laura said.
(Oh. You do? That sounds good.) I responded.
(We can try it out this evening.) She said.
(Yeah. Let’s.) I agreed.
Now then, back to the test. I ordered Fire Sorcerer to walk into the Swords of Revealing Light. She went through the wall just fine and could even move inside freely. And as I already saw Dark Paladin being able to move the boars around, that should be fine as well.
I gave her the order to drag me out in case I froze and walked in myself. I felt a slight pressure hit me when I walked into the swords, but nothing more. It felt like I was carrying an extra 20kg of body weight, spread evenly across my whole body.
Well, it seems perfect. Swords of Revealing Light are OP and I will not say anything else. I got outside with Fire Sorcerer. I was about to unsummon her, but she asked to hang out so I let her.
After one more boar and about ten more minutes, Horus was once again engulfed in dark flames. And from those dark flames appeared my LV8 Horus.

As I checked my duel disk, the LV6 Horus had been replaced by the sleeved Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8. Just like the LV6, the LV8 Horus had an orange sleeve around the card.
LV8 Horus wasn’t quite as large as Blue-Eyes, but it is close. It was just a bit larger than Red-Eyes, standing at 18 meters tall.
“Perfect. Now I have it.” I said to myself. “Vampire Lord, Dark Paladin, please kill enough boars to fill up the barrels.” I ordered my summons. Horus can sit this part out, as it already got five kills.
“So, that’s enough?” I confirmed with Lua after we had filled up two barrels with blood. In total she now had 2 50 liter barrels full of boar blood and about one and a half barrels worth of orcs blood.
“Yes. Three is what I was hoping for so three and a half is more than enough. I just took the fourth in case there would be a lot of orcs and it fit in my bag.” Lua answered. “And it's better not to mix any other blood with the orc blood, as some dhampirs don’t like mixed blood.”
“I see. Then let’s pack up the boar corpses and rendezvous with the others.” I said.
With ten bloodless boar corpses shoved into my large magic bag, I unsummoned Vampire Lord, Dark Paladin and Fire Sorcerer. We then got onto LV8 Horus’ back and took off. After we were flying, I deactivated Swords of Revealing Light by removing it from a spell/trap card zone in my duel disk. The sword circle lifted and the remaining boars began to move again. Then I shoved the now grayed out spell card into my collection.
Now, back to the carriage we go.
