CH.309 Fighting and Flight plans
“... Well, Aulis wasn’t kidding when he said it was close to a populated area.”
I was with Alice in the Factory, coming up with a plan to take on the upcoming dimensional fissure. But the location was quite bad. I honestly wish it was anywhere but there.
Okay, I guess it could be in the middle of a city or something. That would be even worse. But this isn’t good either.
Oh, by the way. For our rewards for taking care of this fissure, Alice was going to be getting her Language Comprehension (humanoid), while I was about to unlock a new set and two new ‘decks’. You remember that deck purchase thing my Pack Opener got at some point? Yeah. I was going to get two new things to purchase. Even if they aren’t technically decks, but whatever.
For the new set, I was going to get . And then the ‘decks’ and . Reasonable rewards, I’d say.
“We just have to keep whatever appears away from the city then.” Alice stated. “Maybe put up a barrier as an insurance.”
The place where the fissure was going to appear was within the borders or Ruiso kingdom, but just barely. It was right next to the city... What was its name? Do I even know it? Well, whatever. It was right next to the city that was on the other end of the bridge that connects the Hero’s country and Ruiso kingdom.
You remember that, right? From when I took Cailie to the Hero’s country?
The Hero’s country is an island, connected by three bridges to the three kingdoms that surround it. And each kingdom has a large city right there. And the fissure was going to appear only about 4 kilometers from the edge of the city that was on the Ruiso kingdom lands.
Aka. a bit too close to the city, where I could call it comfortable. Because at that distance, there is no way the people in the city won’t see Exodia, the fissure and whatever monsters I use to fight the things that appear from the fissure.
“... maybe we could use HomeBase’s invisibility barrier?” I came up with a potential idea.
“Not possible.” Alice quickly said. “It is too specific. We would need to modify it, so that it can be emitted away from HomeBase. And that just isn’t possible in the timeframe we have.”
“... when did you have time to study that spell?”
“When it was being developed. Of course I would look into it, as it is a potentially useful tool for my mission.” Alice pointed out.
“Oh. I didn’t know that. Well, thanks for the pointer. Now I need to add ‘making a tool that can make an invisibility barrier’ to the list of things I need to make.”
“That shouldn’t be too difficult, I think. Just use one of those devices that can pull mana from the Citadel core and add a magic circle to it, which produces the barrier. We might even be able to make one in time.”
“... Does that mean you will take care of it?” I asked.
“Sure. I think I can do it.” Alice said. “Though I’ve never really played with that developer terminal you made, so it might take a bit of time to get used to it. I’ll also need to ask for some help with the spell.” What Alice was referring to was a terminal on the control platform of the Factory, where I had linked the item developer of my Dungeon Founder skill. It was basically just the same 3D CAD software that I use when I make items with Dungeon Founder, but having it linked that way allows both Alice and Lua to use it.
“I think Fantasia will know the best monsters for that, so talk with her about it.” I reminded Alice. Fantasia really was amazing when it came to knowing my monsters. She probably knew them better than I did. Just because she spends all day everyday here playing with them. Other than the time she spends with me, Laura or Tahlia.
“And what about the monsters? I still don’t have anything to match up against an SS-monster.” Alice brought up another topic.
“Well, do you want to go for a walk around the Factory to find something stronger? Or just take a look at my Collection? Or maybe I can install a few cards into Dark Paladin to boost his power?”
“... Let’s check out your Collection first. If we find something good, I’ll take it. But if not, let’s install a few cards into Dark Paladin.”

I opened my Collection and sorted the monsters by attack points. This made me realize that my first four strongest monsters were all Blue-Eyes monsters. But then again, attack points aren’t everything.
“So what do you think? Ultimate Ancient Gear Golem? Or maybe Master of Oz?” I asked Alice.
“... they can’t fly, so maybe not. And I’m not the biggest fan of machine monsters in the first place.” Alice admitted. “I’m guessing Obelisk is off the limits?”
“Yeah, sorry. I could give you one without a divine sleeve, but it won’t be nearly as powerful. Well, it will still be a 4000/4000 monster, but it can’t use its effects without a divine sleeve, so...”

“Oh, there are so many things. But because this is a simple favor, something simple like a ride to the capital in your airship will do.” Mariina said.
“Sure, I can do that.” I agreed. That will only take about 2-ish hours in a B.E.S. monster, so that is not a problem.
“Wait, really?”
“... you don’t want it?”
“No. Of course I’d love it. I just didn’t think you’d agree so easily.”
“It is a lot better than your usual requests, so why would I not agree?” And that is me being honest. I was fully expecting some questions about installs, fusion or other things my cards can do. Or maybe even a visit to HomeBase, or something.
“Well, you could at least tell me why you are headed back to the Hero’s country? Or Oroco city I suppose.” Mariina asked.
“... that would be a secret, sorry.” I told her. Or did dimensional fissures fall into the OK to talk about category? I think Aulis only banned the Chaos God stuff.
“Going to see that merfolk girl?” Mariina asked, trying to tease me.
“... Alice is right here, you know.” I pointed out. “But honestly speaking, I might go and see if I can meet her as well. Just to check up on Cailie.”
“Still worried about her?”
“Well, I did take her there, so I do have some responsibility for her. At least in my opinion.”
“I’m sure she is in safe hands. That city is probably the best place in the world to live in.” Mariina reassured me.
“Not any more. HomeBase is better.” Alice joked.
“Not yet it isn’t.” I corrected. “It needs more work.”
“... and what would this ‘HomeBase’ be?” Mariina asked.
“My Home.” I answered. “I’ll invite you at some point, when it is ready to accept guests. Well, it kind of is now, but only in very limited numbers.”
“I am just one person. Even if you invite the others, it is still just four people. Didn’t you just take four slaves there? And I think it is safe to assume that the catfolk twins are there, as well as that dwarf lady.”
“Einar and Eline aren’t actually twins.” I pointed out. Though admittedly I also thought they were twins. Actually, they were just born close to each other.
“Doesn’t mean my point is moot.”
“Well, if you feel like sleeping on the floor, I can take you there right now.” I told Mariina. “But if you wait about... two weeks to a month, we will have more furniture coming in. I’ll also have better avatar dolls by then and so on. It will just be a bit better than it is now.”
“Avatar dolls? Have you made something interesting again?”
“... you’ll see them at some point. Maybe Alice will learn how to do that fun thing with them by then.”
“Now I want to come even more. Even if it means sleeping on the floor.” Mariina said. “But I can be a big girl and wait. As long as I get to be a part of the first party you hold there.”
“Sounds like a deal to me. Now, about that flight plan...”
In the end, the flight plan was actually super simple. All we had to do was send a notification about when we would be flying in, how many people, and what type of ship we would use, to the adventurer’s guild headquarters. And we could do that at any guild branch, as they all have that magic communicator thing.
I took care of it, and submitted the paperwork by the end of the day. Now Alice and I could go to ... Oroco city I think it was, and take care of the problem. The day I submitting for was one day before what Aulis said, just so I can cause the fissure myself, instead of having it burst on its own. That way, we will have time to prepare the barriers and everything else, before any strong monsters pop out.
