The next day, I had some things on my agenda. Number one thing being checking up on Wilma. She was still in the medbay and she was still evolving. But since she is taken care of, I don’t have to worry about her too much.

The next is Unika. She got one summoning contract yesterday, after she managed to summon a D-rank forest fox. It was nothing special, but after six attempts of getting goblins, kobolds and birds, she was more than happy to ‘have something cute’. Her words, not mine. Because in my opinion the birds could have been useful, and they were also a bit cute.

But the important thing was something on the surface. It was regarding the Nel look-a-like princess. I wanted to find out more about her, so after breakfast, I teleported myself to the Sawyer manor so I could get some info from Mariina. Besides, today is another lesson on Soul Magic, so someone would have to go get her anyway. I can get the info I need while I’m at it.

“I suppose you don’t get the daily tablet.” Mariina said. “It took up half of it.”

“... what did?”

“Princess Nevelle visiting the Royal Academy.” Mariina said. “Here. Just take a look.” She passed the single page wanna-be newspaper to me.

Nevelle, huh? That is almost dangerously close to Nel. You could easily shorten that name to Nel.

But still, this raises a lot of questions. This does confirm that that princess we saw was indeed a princess. A real Royal Princess. That part isn’t that surprising, as I basically already accepted that yesterday. But the part that I can’t understand is why would she walk? Sure the trip from the house she left to the Royal Academy isn’t all that long, but it is still a bit over 15 minutes of walking. That isn’t a distance a Royal should walk, at least as far as I know nobility.

And what about the building they left from? Let’s ask about it.

“... Cressida would know better, but I believe that it is the second Queen’s villa.”

“Ah. Alright. ... it is surprisingly small for a Queen’s villa.”

“It is something she held before she took the seat of the Queen.” Mariina explained. “At first, she was just a concubine and the villa was given to her after she got pregnant.”

“... okay. And how did she become the Second Queen then?”

“It was after the First Queen’s death. In her final moments, the First Queen picked her to take the seat of the Queen.”

“That’s ... dark.”

“It is life. Not everyone can resurrect people. Nor heal terminal illness.”

“... to be honest, I’m not sure if I could cure a terminal disease. Even I might be stuck in ‘I’ll just extend your life’ mode.”

“I suppose something only the First Saint could ever do might be too much for you.” Mariina said. “I assumed, since resurrection and all of that.”

“I mean, I’m not saying I couldn’t do it. Because if I really looked into it, I probably could figure out a way. Actually, I already know one way, but it is kind of ... not what I would call a cure. And even though technically they would get better, it would require their death.”

“... I’m not sure I like that idea, but at the same time, I do want to know what you have in mind.”

“Nothing much really. It is just a card I have. Monster Reincarnation.”

“If I use it on a recently deceased human, or anything else that has recently died, I can take their soul and reincarnate them in the body of one of my monsters.” I explained. “That way, I would keep the soul of the person who died of a chronic illness, but they wouldn’t have to keep their sick body. ... But that is where the morality of it comes into question. Are they even the same person after that? Sure they have their soul and memories, but their body will be completely different.”

“... I ... I really shouldn’t have asked, should I?”

... but admittedly, Time Magic is even more difficult than Space Magic. Space Magic makes some sense, but Time Magic just breaks the rules of reality too much, so it is difficult to suspend my belief enough. But I think with time, I can do it. I mean, something like accelerating my own time, or slowing my opponent's time is something I should be able to do with some practice. It is the major time warps that I really don’t like.

Come evening, I also got some news. Wilma’s evolution had finished and she had woken up. So of course I went to see her before I headed to bed.

When I got to the medbay, a few others were already there. Lua, Karl and Olia, as well as a few monsters in avatar dolls. Lua was working on checking out Wilma, while Karl was ... I actually don’t know why he is here. Olia had brought some food for Wilma and had stayed for a bit.

I gently asked everyone but Lua to leave the room, just so we could have some privacy. Just so Wilma doesn’t have to show her status to outsiders. Actually, this will be the first time Lua will see it, so that is a first. Well, she does have access to things I’ve recorded with the Factory terminals, so she may have taken a look at some point.

“Hey Wilma. How are you feeling?”

“... Really good, my Lord. I’m sorry I was out of service for an entire day.” Wilma quickly apologized.

“Don’t worry about it. It was kind of my fault.”

“No. I should have evolved faster.” Wilma insisted.

“Actually, from what I’ve heard, just a bit over a day spent in evolution is extremely fast. I mean, even I was out for longer when I evolved.”

“Same with me.” Lua admitted.

“And our evolutions are considered fast, because we had optimal conditions. It can take multiple days to evolve if the conditions are worse.” I told Wilma something I’d learned from Laura. That was actually part of the reason I wanted to make the evolution pods.

“... Alright. ... then thank you for taking care of me while I evolved.”

“Of course. That is part of your benefits.” I told her, before I got to the serious business. “... so, your status. Could you show it to us?”

“... Yes, I will. ... Status Open.”

“Craftswoman, huh? Fitting to say the least.” I commented. “And you even got a racial skill. Congratulations.”

“... thanks.”

“Make sure you rest before you get back to work. So tomorrow, you’ll have a day off. No working. Make sure you are used to your increased stats and look over your body. Since you evolved, all of your blemishes and other skin issues should have disappeared, so if you don’t want them to return, maybe a visit to the spa will do you good.” I told Wilma. “You might also want a haircut, and perhaps a trim to your beard. They both grew out quite a bit during the evolution.”

“Y-Yes. I will. Thank you, My Lord.”

“Just Brian is fine.”

“Y-Yes, Brian. ... thank you. You as well, Lady Lua.”

“Don’t lady me, please.” Lua commented.

“... yes. Lua. Thank you.”
