CH.454 Tournament Card Pool and Packs
“Okay. So ... Place the card here and ...” I muttered to myself as I was testing out a hologram Yugioh table and the cardboard cards I will be using for the tournament.
You really think I’d give out a ton of actually super powered cards that can summon monsters capable of destroying cities. I won’t. I know I have the Queen and Elias spreading the info about the tournament, but still, I don’t trust random nobles with cards.
And besides, I have to limit the card pool anyway, so by having everyone use fake cards, I can control the card pool. And I won’t be tempted to bring out some of the big hitters for my own deck.
The hologram table is just that, a hologram table. It is similar to the tables used in Duelist Kingdom of the Yugioh anime, except a lot smaller. Place a card onto a dedicated slot, and the table will put up a hologram. Nice and simple, and it is working perfectly.
As for the cards, they are literally just printed cardboard, so I can produce them for basically nothing using HomeBase.
Now the more important part is the card pool. I’ve had a few ideas, but in the end, I have to be pretty limited with it. Not because I want to, but because I can’t expect the locals to know every Yugioh card ever.
So what I did was I took every non-effect Fusion monster in my collection, then picked the materials that are needed to make them, and that was going to be the monster pool for the tournament.
Is it too limiting? I don’t think so. Will we see a lot of Blue-Eyes Ultimate decks? Yes.
Oh right. Yeah, I didn’t mention that part yet. The entire tournament will be played under a permanent Fusion Gate. So free fusions for all.

Then there is also a list of Spells and Traps that are allowed, that I won’t be getting into, because it would be a bit too long. Just know that I banned all of the generic ‘destroy all’ cards, be it Mirror Force, Dark Hole or Heavy Storm.
But draw cards like Pot and Graceful aren’t limited, so it will be interesting to see if people will run 3 of them, or if they will overlook that in search of more power.
In my opinion, the top deck should end up being Master of Oz turbo or something like that. Master of Oz has 4200 attack, and it only needs two materials, so it is pretty easy to bring out.

Other than that, Twin-Headed Thunder Dragon is also a great option, because as long as you get one Thunder Dragon, you can discard it, search 2 Thunder Dragons, and fusion summon Twin-Headed.

Also, it will be interesting to see if anyone runs either Anti-Fusion Device or Non-Fusion Area. Yes, both are allowed.
Spoiler[collapse]
I think I might personally go for Non-Fusion Area strat, but I don’t know. And no, I’m not taking part in the tournament itself, because I’ll have to be the main judge. But I can challenge the winner of the tournament. I’ll just need to make myself a deck that fits my own rules. I don’t want to be too cheaty, after all.
Oh. Also, in case you were wondering, other than the limited card pool, all other standard Yugioh rules apply. 8000 life points, 5 card opening hands, person going first doesn’t get a draw and so on. Standard modern Yugioh rules.
But back to the regular stuff I need to ‘worry’ about. Which is my collection.
I have a set to complete, so let’s get onto it.
Today, working on . It is the last set of the pre-Synchro era I haven’t fully completed, and I want to complete it. And the way to do that is packs.
... but admittedly I’ve only opened 20 packs of Light of Destruction, so I don’t think it is time for speedrun openings just yet. I’ll do 20 packs today, normally, and then maybe tomorrow I’ll speedrun some more. And after that, I’ll just Capsule the rest of the cards.
So let’s get on with it.

Well hello Magie. I didn’t know you were in this set.
Yes, I already had access to Magical Exemplar, because it is in a structure deck I can get. Actually, I’ve had access to her for a long time. Even before HomeBase ever took flight. So ... that is something.
But it is new from this set, so that is nice.
Next pack.

Interestingly the super rare isn’t the new card. Industrial Strength is the new card. And it is ... actually kind of okay. Has a decently easy special summoning effect. A good destruction effect and nice stats, except defense.
So yeah. Batteryman Industrial Strength is nice.
Next pack.

Spoiler
LODT 20
Mystical Cards of Light, Hero Mask, Raging Cloudian, Arcana Force 0 - The Fool, Cross Porter, Dice Try!, Golden Bamboo Sword, Maximum Six, Dark Valkyria
[collapse]
Maximum Six is new. ... but it sucks. But the good news is, if Ria wants to learn multi-armed combat, Maximum Six might be a good teacher. Sadly I don’t have multi-armed avatar dolls, so I’d have to summon him. Or the training would have to take place in the Factory.
But still, a new card is a new card. And a new card is a decent way to end an opening.
With the opening done, I had one little job to do. I had to visit the Capital and pick up Princess Nevelle, so she could temporarily move to HomeBase.
It was nothing more than a quick flight there and back, but we did take the return trip a bit slower, because Nevelle wanted to look around. And yes, I do have the complete Nevelle, not just half of her.
... that sounded wrong, but whatever.
I then had Molly and Cina help Nevelle settle in. She was a bit surprised when she saw the humanoid form of the two centaurs, as she didn’t know they could do that, but nothing a quick explanation didn’t cover.
From there, we went on to have her first lesson on Soul Magic, which started off interestingly.
“Yes. You are definitely splitting your soul.” Lady Janina said, as she observed Nevelle’s unique skill. “If you learn how to do so, you could instead make a copy of your soul, and then all versions of you would carry all of your skills, instead of having to split them like you do.”
With that as her goal, Nevelle dived straight into the Soul Magic lessons.
But wait, there is more. Because someone else decided that they are good enough at Soul Magic to try something.
And that someone was Alice. Or in this case, I think calling them Alice Mana is more appropriate.
Because she was able to separate her two souls, sending the ‘Alice’ soul into an unmodified dragon avatar. We used the unmodified ones as they are a bit better for this. The avatar dolls are specifically designed for my cards, so they can cause some problems. But with a dragon avatar, Alice was able to exist in it just fine, while Mana was taking care of the body.
It was kind of interesting to see the two split like that, because I’ve gotten so used to the combined Alice.
They then recombined in the one body, and we decided to call the Soul Magic lesson done.
