Chapter 7：I’ve found you (2)

"The city?" Kaiden asked. "Yes, so we know that they went to different places. They most likely planned it beforehand, so Larry should know where Phillip went." Renae replied, trying to analyze what could have happened. Kaiden nodded his head in agreement. "What else should we check that might be useful to us?" Kaiden asked. Before Renae could reply, the walkie talkie vibrated. Policeman 1 informed them that they have caught Larry and is now bringing him back to the station. Afterwards, Kaiden and Renae took a break while waiting for their return.

Kaiden and Renae sat in silence, doing their own things. The silence was not awkward though, more of a comfortable silence. Renae engrossed in her book and Kaiden playing a phone game.

"Do you... want a drink?" Kaiden suddenly asked, looking up from his phone.

"H-Huh? Oh, yea, sure."

"What drink?"

"Ice Latté please. Tell me the price later and I'll pay u back."

"Alright. Be back in five."

"No rush."

After their little conversation, Renae went back to reading as per usual. Kaiden came back not long after with their drinks but Renae was so immersed in her book she didn't realise. "Renae? I'm back with the drinks." Kaiden said as he placed the drinks on the conference table. Renae didn't respond. "Renae??" He repeated. Still, she did not reply. He walked over, bent down and waved his band between Renae and the book. Startled, Renae jumped a little. When she realised how close their faces were, her face flushed a light shade of red. "O-Oh, you're back!" She stuttered. "Yep, have been for a while. Here." He replied. He still sounded cold but it was much warmer than before. He handed her the Ice Latté. "Thanks, how much is it?" Renae took a sip of the Ice Latté and asked. "I forgot to check. It's alright, you don't have to pay me back." Kaiden responded. The room returned to the way it was before, just that they had drinks this time.

Soon enough, the 4 policemen who went to arrest Larry had returned. Upon hearing the door to the conference room open, both Renae and Kaiden looked up. "We're back and we caught Larry, he's in the interrogation room. We leave the rest to you two, remember to signal to the person in charge of recording before starting to question him. I know it's you two's first times interrogating someone so it's alright if you mess up, just signal to the person watching. The person watching and listening will inform us and we'll come in immediately." Policeman 1 told them in a comforting voice.

"Ok, we've got this. Come on then, let's go." Renae replied smiling at Kaiden as she placed a bookmark in the page she stopped at and placed her book in her bag. "Mmhmm." Kaiden gave a short reply and stood up. As they made their way to the interrogation room, Renae tried to initiate some small talk with Kaiden.
