Chapter 185 - Invitation

The servants were afraid but Yu Zheng Tong merely waved his hand and asked them to leave. The room was in tatters with so many porcelains broken on the ground. It was messy and certainly didn't look like the house of a prominent family.

Truth to be told, Yu Zheng Tong had some savings on his own that he kept separated. It was for his emergency use but this time, he had no intention of using any of them. 

The situation was not that dire yet.

'Am I really not cut out to be a businessman?' Yu Zheng Tong lamented to himself, feeling utterly exhausted.

He worked for his entire life, trying to get out of the poor situation his family used to be in. He was a village boy and couldn't release himself from that title no matter how much he worked.

After all, he couldn't change where he was born.

When he was still a kid, he had often been mocked because of his background by many rich people. They would talk as if they were much better than him and had better qualification because they were from better background family. 

While he was still trying to search for job, those people were already enjoying their lives. They could easily order countless people to do their bidding while they just played around.

It was not fair.

But Yu Zheng Tong knew that lives were never meant to be fair.

So, he chose to work hard. Building his own personal connection, working with other people, lowering his head just to be able to get some funds. He wanted to be successful and even used his own marriage to be able to enter the higher status.

It was unknown since when that he began to feel that working like this was so tiring. 

He was no longer as young as he used to be. Some of the work he did feel a bit overwhelming. Now that he was starting to plan for his retirement and handed the company to his trusted employee, it just had to get into trouble.

Yu Zheng Tong sighed.

Winter passed and it was time for New Year once more. This time, Long Family wanted to celebrate the End Year by hosting a celebration party which would be attended by their two sons.

So far, the dispute between Long Shu Ting and Long Shu Xing has been the center of attention of so many people. Long Family was intending to use this party to formally point which one of the two would be the successor and at the same time to make their stance of the two sons clear.

Starting from that time, there would not be any dispute allowed between the two of them anymore. 

"Long Family sure know how to make use of their connection." Yu Yan was looking at the invitation and felt that Long Family was making use of their influence and connection to invite so many people to the party.

Even though she didn't know how many people would attend, if someone like her and Long Ying were also invited, it meant that they were inviting a lot of people. The Long Family must have their reason for inviting everyone.

Long Ying glanced at the invitation and sighed. "I have to attend this time. Would you come along, Yan'er?"

"Yes, of course!" Yu Yan would never let Long Ying attend the party by himself and faced the countless people's scrutiny. Even if they were facing a lot of people's angry gaze because of their position, she would definitely stand by her husband's side.

"Do you know their plan?" Long Ying looked at his wife.

"Nope."

"But you still want to come?" his little wife was really careless and reckless. It seemed that he would need to teach her about how to read between the lines better in the future.

"Of course, I'm not going to let you go there alone." 

Long Ying smiled and pulled Yu Yan up, hugging her from behind. This was the position he liked to stay with his little wife the most. When they were hugging, he would be able to feel her warmth and hear her heart beating. It was calming and comforting.

"So, tell me, is it going to be dangerous?"

"Dangerous? In a way, yes. Long Shao Huai will want to know what my stance is towards my two brothers." Long Ying sneered. He understood that the only reason why his father would even send him an invitation was because the latter wanted him to finally make his stance known.

"Make your stance?" Yu Yan blinked her eyes.

Long Ying nodded. "Which side do you think I should pick?"

"I don't want to interfere with your decision." Turning her head around, Yu Yan looked straight at Long Ying's face. "Whatever your decision would be, I'll support you. I'm sure that you can make the right decision that will decide your future."

She didn't know much about Long Family and even if she knew some of them, it would be from outsider point of view. Based on what she knew, Long Shu Ting was in good relationship with Long Ying, but it was not known whether it would be the same inside or it was just on the surface.

Besides, from their name alone she understood that Long Ying was not even publicly made known. It was the tradition for the children who had three letters name for their first name to be the same with each other and only their middle name was different.

Long Shu Ting and Long Shu Xing both had Shu as their first name. On the other hand, Long Ying only have two letters' name.

It was as if indirectly saying that Long Shao Huai was not even willing to acknowledge him as their son. Though, there were still people with two letters' name, this three letters' name was simply some tradition that was still kept even until today.. It was usually to represent a generation.
