Chapter 184 - Losing Connections (2)

"I can't help him." Bao Wang was firm in his decision. He turned around, looking at his nephew. It has always been his biggest regret that he didn't have a child on his own, so the seat as the family head would eventually fall to his nephews who were clamoring around him.

All this time, he had been very patient and treated them patiently. He even guided them one by one and watched as they grow along with his siblings. Bao Tu used to have a good chance to obtain this family head seat in the past.

In fact, Bao Wang even liked the ambitious Bao Tu since that brat was not bad and quite level headed most of the time. The other nephew of his couldn't be compared to Bao Tu in terms of ambitions.

Unfortunately… he made the biggest mistake in his life. Thus, this seat would never be his.

The young man blinked his eyes, feeling a bit confused but he still bowed. "Uncle must have your reason."

"You… need to be careful when dealing with people. There are a lot of powerful people who are keeping low profile. If you accidentally offend one, I might not even be able to help you." Bao Wang sighed. 

The list of the ten most powerful and richest family was published for public to see. But that list was certainly not the 'correct' list. There were some powerful families whose name were not written there and there were some people who would not report the real extend of their influence.

Thus, that list was a joke.

Some families that were written lower was actually at higher place or those with higher place was actually lower. Because of this tacit understanding, people never specifically mentioned a family at specific position and only at their position, whether they were above ten or not.

Besides… there were also those hidden families.

The young man was surprised. He bowed down. "Uncle is wise, Nephew will understand your teaching."

"Good. You may leave."

Even though Bao Wang didn't specifically mention the reason, the young man understood very well that Bao Tu likely had offended someone powerful who were keeping a low profile. Because of that person, Bao Wang couldn't even help him and thus abandoning Bao Tu to deal with his perilous situation all on his own. 

Bao Wang was not only representing himself but the entire Bao Family. In the face of danger that could possibly annihilate the entire family, Bao Wang simply chose the entire family compared to Bao Tu. Besides, it was not like the entire family couldn't exist without Bao Tu.

Bao Tu was just one of the slightly more talented younger generation in Bao Family. 

The young man turned around as the corner of his lips curled up to form a smile. He never had a good relationship with Bao Tu and now that Bao Tu was off the list to be the family head, he knew that he would have a good chance to win in the future.

That meant, he just needed to work even harder to make sure that he could succeed the Bao Family without having to worry about Bao Tu. One competitor off of the list.

That was good.

Kang Mao Lan was utterly enraged when she heard that her former friends discussing about her openly in their group without regards to her face. They were those who had already enjoyed benefit from staying near her, but they were also the fastest to throw themselves away to the other side when they realized that she was no longer the rich lady.

The problem in the mine and company completely devastated her. This caused her flow of income to halt, making the previously rich lady to be nothing more than just an ordinary one. 

Their behavior made her utterly enraged.

"Mao Lan, calm down. We'll find a way to settle this problem." Yu Zheng Tong helplessly ordered the servant to help cleaning. His business was in peril but he couldn't really afford to offend his wife. Even though there was no feeling of love, she was still the person who had accompanied him in most of his life.

Kang Mao Lan looked at Yu Zheng Tong and threw the porcelain beside her. It shattered upon contact on the ground, not far from Yu Zheng Tong. "It's all your fault! If only you're not so useless that you can't even work properly, I'll not be mocked."

"Yes, yes, it's my fault."

"Hmph! Now that Yu Xin is also in trouble because of the mine, what should I do, ah? Contact or just buy new mine whatever, I don't care!"

Yu Zheng Tong looked at his wife and shook his head helplessly. Even if he wanted to buy an entire mine, it would not be possible. The only reason why Kang Family managed to reach high in their lives was because of the mines. It was clear that buying one was not as easy as earning the profit share.

The profit share was only a method to divide the earning while the ownership still only belonged to one person. And it was only divided between a family, which made it easier to keep track rather than selling it to strangers out there.

"There's no way it's possible."

"Then just do something!" Kang Mao Lan was annoyed. She stood up and rushed out of the living room, intending to seek some other method to relax herself. Staying here with her husband would only make her anger flared. 

The servants were afraid but Yu Zheng Tong merely waved his hand and asked them to leave. The room was in tatters with so many porcelains broken on the ground. It was messy and certainly didn't look like the house of a prominent family.

Truth to be told, Yu Zheng Tong had some savings on his own that he kept separated.. It was for his emergency use but this time, he had no intention of using any of them right now.
