"Welcome back Elena."
The two women were back in Elizabeth's room.
"Thank you, Your Majesty."
Elizabeth yawned and lazily sat down. The frown on her face was lost after Austin had come back, and all her built-up stress evaporated in one go.
"How many times have I told you to stop addressing me like that, just call me by my name when we're alone." Elizabeth chided with her lips pressed together.
Elena did not reply. She was gazing out of the window, appreciating the scenery outside.
From above, the colorful garden filled with beautiful flowers was very pleasing to the eye. Some ways away in the distance, the Grand Palace could be seen towering in height. Because of its size, It was visible from where they were.
Elizabeth stared at Elena's back figure with a strange look in her eyes. The ambiance in the room changed. A peculiar feeling rose within her but she could not discern the source of it.
The birds were chirping and a fresh, spring breeze flew in from the open window. A melody of tranquility was playing in the air. Elena's eyes were closed and she had a relaxed smile on her face.
Then, she jested with a light laugh, "it's become a habit by now - being your maid for all this time.
It's been so long already... Elly."
Elizabeth's eyes widened in surprise and her finger trembled slightly. Waves of nostalgic memories rushed over her listening to the name she had totally forgotten of by now. Reminiscing the past, her lips broadened in happiness. "Wow, it feels weird hearing you call me that again!"
Elena turned around, meeting Elizabeth with a warming grin. Her long brown hair gracefully fluttered in the wind, and the rims of her dress glided along with it.
Elizabeth was enthralled, the scene felt like something apart of nature. Elena's serenity blended in perfectly with the soothing sunlight as a warm breeze entered through as if to show the tenderness of her smile.
Extravagant clothes were left in various places on the floor. The huge, lavish bed next to her was crumpled and unmade. Looking around the messy room, Elena sighed in amiable irritation. "You still can't look after yourself even after growing so much. Sometimes I wonder if it was only your body that matured."
Elizabeth gleefully giggled back at her, "that's because I have always had you to take care of me!" Her cold disposition was gone the residents knew of was gone, replacing it was the former liveliness that made her seem as cute as a child.
"There are so many maids laying around here who have nothing to do. If you weren't so stubborn..."
Elizabeth pouted. "So what! why can't I be stubborn? Why would I need anyone else when I have you. You've always been the one taking care of me, I won't let anyone else take that privilege, hehe."
Elena grinned at Elizabeth's silliness, but a short moment after, her head fell despondently towards the ground and the corners of her mouth drew down.
Elizabeth frowned. "What's wrong?"
Elena sighed and looked up at Elizabeth. She lamented, "I'm going to leave soon. I thought Austin would never come back again. After going through that, I want to find somewhere quiet to live with my family for some time." Although Elena seemed sad, there wasn't much grievance on her face. She was mostly worried about Elizabeth.
"I understand."
Unlike what one would expect, Elizabeth reacted calmly. She could not force Elena to stay. Unlike most maids in prestigious Families, Elena was just a servant in name and only took on the role because of their friendship. Further, Elizabeth had Elena's well-being in mind before anything and would encourage her happiness.
With a cheerful smile on her face, she proclaimed, "You've already been by my side for all these years. It's about time you get away from me." Elizabeth's words were jarring but they did not sound as such. She was happy if Elena was happy.
She continued, "but now who's going to look after me..." coyly grumbling in a joking tone.
"This is a good chance for you to finally rid of that laziness." Elena lightly mocked in response. She expected Elizabeth to support her and was glad her expectations held true, but she was concerned. Elizabeth would not have anyone else to talk to after she left.
"On second thought, you are the Queen after all. Why not let the maids take care of you for once? Many of them would happily oblige. The new one that came in, what was her name, Sarah? she seems competent."
"How would I know." Elizabeth muffled. "There's so many of them in my house nowadays. Those geezers from the Family keep sending new ones here even though I have no use for them and told them not to."
Elena's brow raised in musing. "You are their precious savior after all. You don't come out of the Residence and don't allow any of them to visit you either. Naturally, they will try to obtain your favor any way they can."
Elizabeth slumped in her chair in grief. "It's so tiresome having to deal with their pestering all the time. I would just leave here as well if it wasn't for..."
Elena's eyelids quivered indiscernibly. She became voiceless for a moment.
"There will be someone in the future, Don't worry Elizabeth, you will find your home." Elena showed a reassuring smile, but it clearly did not contain much confidence.
Elizabeth had a blankness look on her face. She sighed, "I hope so...."

Sitting at the pinnacle, the Krashal Nation naturally owned the largest domain of territory in the Western Region, similar to the other three Royal Nations.
Every Nation in Fantasia was named after its Family. Though there are other major powers across the continent, the Families always possess the most power in their Nation, and either by idleness or activeness, control it.
Some Families are business-minded, focusing on building prosperity and hire powerful Magicians to do the dirty work for them. Most, however, come from a long lineage of prestigious Mages and Warriors, choosing to focus on the path of cultivation rather than handle the operations of their Nation.
Half of all the top Nations in Fantasia have held their position from the beginnings of civilization, their strength proven and prestige established.
In every Region, there is the Heavenly Land located at the very edge of the human continent. With the bountiful mana and rear guarded by the Grand Sea, the land offers the best defense against intruders and training grounds for Warriors. The holders of this land are recognized as the Rulers of their Region - The Royal Nation.
The Nessitia Family in the North, the Ferrim Family in the East, and the Rokkudon Family in the South. All of these three Families have stood atop of their Region from the very beginning. Thanks to this, their foundations are far stronger, sturdier and sophisticated than every other Nation.
Since the Royal Families did not have a reason to participate in wars, they secluded themselves from the world, hiding away and minding their own business.
One time in history, many thought they had weakened over time and were on par in power with the indomitable Rank 1 Nations.
Because of this, the top Rank 1 Nations of the Eastern Region united in a ploy to take down the Ferrim Family, who were thought to be the weakest out of the Royal Families. The result... to say the least, was astonishing.
Before it even started, the alliance's 'attack' stood no chance - a mistake they only realized before it was too late to regret. They were naive, and as a consequence of their ignorance, got completely wiped out. Their futile efforts were pathetic and offered zero resistance against the Ferrim Family's slaughter.
On that day, the world was paid witness to once again to the Royal Family's insurmountable strength. And from then on, none dared to challenge them again. After years and years of practicing magic in the Royal Land, they had already ascended as Gods.
The only exception to this law of nature was in the Western Region.
Since the dawn of civilization, the Royal Family of the Western Region was contended against by another Family. They were the only Family in Fantasia's history that matched a Royal Family in strength. Their founders were life-long rivals, but the Royal Family's ancestor narrowly won out in claiming the Heavenly Land.
Consequently, the two Families slowly but surely grew apart in strength with each new generation of Magicians. They were evenly matched in talent but one Family was disadvantaged. They were surrounded by other Nations and had to deal with the threat of potential attacks. While their Magicians were of the same level as the Royal Family, their Warriors were weaker due to the difference in mana density.
Eventually, there came a point when the Family was no longer able to challenge the Royal Family. The onlookers who watched in daft attention over millenniums of blood-curdling battles were disappointed, and the excitement surrounding their rivalry dulled down.
Everyone wanted to see the impossibility of the Gods falling. However, as time passed, the Royal Family came out on top in every clash, and the end result became certain.
Although the Family was still far more powerful than any other Rank 1 Nation, in the end, they were unable to climb over the Western Region's Royal Family, and the two had effectually stopped fighting.
After countless years of shrewd planning, savage wars and promising leaders of new generations, they were defeated in shame and disgrace.
Small-scale clashes still ensued between the two Families, but the contests were only for show and did not have any meaningful intents. The big players of the Family stowed away, waiting for a lucky opportunity, but what they needed was a miracle to occur.
They no longer had a chance of defeating the Royal Family, and the Royal Family could not wipe them out without paying a great sacrifice. Thus, the thousand-year-long war between them was over. The Family did not take any more action afterward, and so everyone believed they had given up.
The supremity in beating a Royal Family was not obtained.
At this time, the Royal Family was not the Krashals.
