"Understood Father."
Amos continued, "focus on increasing our numbers for now. There's plenty of time to work with. Exert the next few years on finding kids with potential."
In reality, Ral only dealt with the tedious matters in the Family. Amos had disappeared from the public eye, but he was still the true mastermind and made all the important decisions. His capabilities were far and beyond his son's and brothers'. It'd be a long time before control would be relinquished to anyone else.
Abruptly, Amos' voice turned cold, instantly freezing the air in the room. "How goes the extermination of those remnants?"
Being the victim of the question, a death reaper hung above Ral's head like he was the subject of execution. Feeling the rage and killing intent in his own father's eyes directed at him, Ral needed a second to regain his cool. He was already long used to the ruthlessness of this merciless man...
"The ghost squadron wiped out the last of them two months ago." Ral's responded confidently. The corner of his eyes squinted in a tiny smile. He had been waiting for his father to ask him and was proud to declare the accomplishment of their Family's long-desired dream.
Amos reacted a little for the first time. The chilliness in the air dissipated and he simply nodded his head before regaining a neutral bearing. Ral's First and Second Uncle by the side could not prevent a beaming smile that reeked of haughtiness from appearing on their faces. If it wasn't for the fact Amos was seated right next to them, they would have acted further in their celebrations.
"The girl in the Palace. She should be around seven now?" Amos' apathetic voice made everyone serious again.
Though he did not show it, Ral felt a sense of dejection. He was anticipating some form of praise, acknowledgment even. But like always, it never came.
Hiding his feelings within, Ral spoke out energetically with a sharp twink in his eyes. "She's very promising Father. Like that cursed woman, she inherited all of her talents. Triple Attributes, she has Triple-Attributes!"
First Uncle: "What did you say!?"
Second Uncle: "Hahaha. Great! This is our Krashal Family's fortune. Now our rise to the rulers of Fantasia is only a matter of time. After a millennium of bad luck, the tide has finally turned in our favor!"
Ral: "I agree First Uncle, Second Uncle. Who would have thought her child would end up in our hands. Haha! What a turn of events. This must be our Family's salvation!" A few seconds later, his raised hands fell from the air and his excitement died down a little. "Unfortunately, with Elizabeth protecting her... I have no way of bringing her over to our side."
First Uncle: "Elizabeth? I take it she took a liking to that kid then. That is trouble... we have no way of going against that monster." Find authorized novels in Webnovel, faster updates, better experience,Please click www.novelhall.com for visiting.
Second Uncle: "... Just thinking about her power sends a chill down my spine. I can't believe she really came from that place... but we need to think of a way to take the child from her hands. With her ungodly talent, she will become our strongest weapon in the future!"
First Uncle: "If only we had gotten hold of her when she was still an infant! What a heavy blunder!"
Amos listened by the side, not chiming in the conversation. Although he was still calm on the outside, he was actually processing many rapid thoughts inside his head. The sudden revelation was an unexpected surprise. To be able to startle him - that showed how powerful the existence of a Triple-Attribute Mage was.
If it wasn't for the Queen of the past Royal Family, Amos would have led the Krashal Family into victory long ago. They personally battled on many occasions, and Amos was superior in every aspect in both combat and intelligence. But no matter what he did, he could not beat her, simply because of that pure, unadulterated power which should not belong in this world. Remembering the numerous defeats he suffered and all the times she thwarted his plans, a silent rage was rising inside him.
Feeling the suffocating oppressiveness in the air, Ral and his Uncles stopped conversing, once again turning silent for Amos' next words.
"We should not do anything to anger Elizabeth. Though she is only using us, we are using her as well. You guys are overestimating her too much.
Keep showing her respect on the surface, forcibly getting rid of her is not an ideal option right now. Just wait for her to leave and that will be the end of it."
Hearing how Amos spoke so coolly about 'getting rid of her,' Ral and his Uncles were stunned. They were at a lost for words, not believing their ears for a moment.
"Has Father advanced again...?" Ral silently pondered in his head. Like his Uncles, exhilaration welled up within, and their gazes held even more reverence.
Amos paid no attention to their reactions. "It's fine if we can't do anything to the girl for now. She won't be going anywhere. But she must start building a foundation now so her talents will be maximized. Appoint the necessary Magic classes for her to attend. Naturally, make sure you acquire the best teachers, the price does not matter."
"This..." For some reason, Ral did not respond to his father's command in the usual manner, an especially simple one at that. A bead of sweat formed on his head and he turned to the ground, avoiding eye contact.
"What is it?" Amos' voice pierced through Ral, almost making him jump in fright. His eyes squinted dangerously.
"I-I have already tried arranging lessons for her to take, but she refused to go to any of them. Even Elizabeth helped to persuade and tell her she only needed to come once, but she has rejected every time!"
"What?" The daggers in the air were becoming sharper, and Ral could feel them encroaching on him...
"A boy! It's because of a boy!" Ral confirmed his father was listening. "His name is Austin, he is good friends with the girl and is always with her. He should be the reason why she doesn't want to attend the classes!"
Hearing this, Amos turned disinterested once again and the tension in the air vanished. "That's it? Just get rid of him then."
Ral quickly spoke, not wanting to incite the wrath of his father again. "His mother is the personal maid of Elizabeth. Will that be ok?"
Amos turned his back to Ral, facing the sky and falling back to meditation. He waved his hand casually, "that's fine. Do what you have to do." Not sparing a single thought in taking the life of a child to achieve his plans, Amos was a truly merciless creature.
"Understood." Marking his leave, Ral bowed in respect and vanished from the spot.
The white, arcane-like mist returned and veiled the room.
