Another one to focus on was the guy with tanned-skin whose name was Yang Chusheng, who was using a spiritual weapon. He did not seem to them as a threat at all. Like Ye Tianyi, he fought a couple of the Demonized Raccoon Dogs barehanded!

About three minutes later, all the Demonized Raccoon Dogs were killed. It was frightening, but they managed to get the situation under control with two of them sustaining minor injuries. 

“Take a break, everybody. Liu Neng, clean the wounds thoroughly and dress them as demon beasts are easily attracted to the scent of blood. Zhao Ming, take Yang Chusheng with you and scout the area but don’t go too far,” Shang Yu said to one of the men.

“Roger, captain.”

“Brother Tianyi, you’re amazing.” 

Xing Baobao looked at Ye Tianyi in admiration.

She knew he would not be a scum forever! Although he had not achieved much greatness yet, she already admired him. This was probably why people say ‘beauty is in the eyes of the beholder’. 

Ye Tianyi scratched her delicate little nose.

Xing Baobao blushed again.

Five minutes later, Yang Chusheng and Zhao Ming returned. 

“Captain, there’s a cave just a few hundred meters from here. Should we check it out?”

“Let’s go together.”

Shang Yu’s eyes widened after hearing that. Ye Tianyi’s eyes widened as well.

Purple Honeysuckles were usually found in places that were damp and dark. Thus, there was a high chance they would find some in the cave.

They arrived at the foot of a great mountain, and there was indeed a cave. It was pitch black inside.

“Let’s go in and have a look.”

Shang Yu walked into the cave after speaking.

“I think it’s better not to go into the cave,” Yang Chusheng finally spoke.

“Mmm?”

Everybody was looking at him. 

“It’s very dangerous,” Yang Chusheng said.

“How so? We’re in the Thousand-Beast Forest, there’s danger everywhere,” Shang Yu said. 

Ye Tianyi had something to say, too.

“First of all, there may or may not be Purple Honeysuckle in there. Secondly, the location of the cave suggests that there may be a demon beast residing in there. Even if it isn’t a man-made cave, it’s the perfect shelter for any demon beast. This is the Thousand-Beast Forest, after all. So the demon beast that could be residing in that cave would most likely be the king of this area, which would then prove to be very dangerous.”

Xing Baobao nodded repeatedly. 

Yang ChuSheng gave Ye Tianyi a look after hearing what he said. Ye Tianyi grinned at him. 

The others immediately thought about retreating after hearing Ye Tianyi’s analysis. 

“If that’s the case, shall we stop looking for the Purple Honeysuckles? Alrighty, it’s one million each if we find it. Let’s go!”

Shang Yu walked towards the cave the moment he finished talking. The others hesitated at first but the allure of money was too strong, so they followed right behind him.

Xing Baobao pulled the corner of Ye Tianyi’s shirt and asked, “Brother Tianyi, should we follow?”

Ye Tianyi looked at Yang Chusheng and asked, “What about you?”

“Not going in,” Yang Chusheng said plainly.

“In that case, we won’t, too.”

Although Ye Tianyi desperately needed some Purple Honeysuckles, it was just too dangerous to enter the cave. Furthermore, Purple Honeysuckles didn’t only grow in caves, so it was not necessary to take that risk. Ye Tianyi would return to the cave to have a look if they couldn’t find any at the end of the trip. 

Three of them remained outside.

“Captain, it’s the Purple Honeysuckle!” Zhang Chao cried excitedly when he saw the tiny goldish-purple flowers in a corner of the cave. 

Shang Yu turned to look. His eyes widened!

“That’s right! It’s the Purple Honeysuckle!”

Shoosh—

He instantly plucked the Purple Honeysuckles right away, examining them carefully before putting them in his backpack.

They were very lucky indeed as there were no demon beasts in the cave. While there were signs that a demon beast had previously been here, it was fortunate it was not in the cave at that moment.

“Wonderful! We’ve found some Purple Honeysuckles! Captain, you promised us one million each to those that followed you!” Zhang Chao said excitedly.

Shang Yu nodded and smiled, a trace of wickedness flashed in his eyes. 

The others got excited, too, but suddenly, lightning flashed from Shang Yu’s hand as he swiftly punched Zhang Chao into the wall.

Poof—

“Captain…you!”

Zhang Chai could not believe his eyes.

Shang Yu sneered, lightning coursing through his body.

“You have the audacity to want to split the money with me? Don’t be absurd!”

Boom—

In an instant, a burst of lightning was discharged and they all died in the cave. 

Swoosh—

Two minutes later, Shang Yu ran out of the cave, panting. 

“Run! There’s a demon beast in the cave!” Shang Yu yelled.

Ye Tianyi and the other two followed him as they ran away.

“Captain, what happened? Where are the others?”

Xing Baobao asked after they had stopped running.

Shang Yu held his head in his hands, pretending to be very upset. He said, “It was my fault, they…they…ah, and we couldn’t find any Purple Honeysuckles in the cave…”

Ye Tianyi frowned. He sniffed the air and seemed to have realized something.

“It was my fault. I was too careless, too focused on looking for Purple Honeysuckles!” Shang Yu said, still feigning sadness.

They did not know each other, so Ye Tianyi did not mourn for those men. Xing Baobao had a kind nature, so she might have been a little upset. Only Shang Yu knew them, but financial interest had great power over people.

Because of the Universal Sacred Art, Ye Tianyi was familiar with the scent of Purple Honeysuckles. It was very faint, but he could still smell it. After all, he was a martial artist. His senses were stronger than ordinary people. Even if they could sense the smell, they would not know what it was. They would probably think it was the smell of his cologne, but Ye Tianyi was certain there were Purple Honeysuckles in his backpack!
