I stared at the bird with blank look. I wanted to turn back and leave this place. I can use magic to spot people or other things, but I can't use battle magic. I tried throwing fireballs and water needles; however, the moment they left 2-meter radius, they would disappear. A very inconvenient detail, right? I can't use magic to defend myself and my 2-years-old body won't put up much of a fight.
The Ago-bird, as if understanding that I won't be following it around anymore, moved its wings away and approached myself that was frozen in shock I tried to move my feet, but they felt as if someone glued them to the ground. My breaths became sharp and short, and sweat streamed down my back. The Ago-bird that just a moment ago was slowly approaching me abruptly stopped just few steps away. It opened its golden beak and a wave of sound and wind suddenly attacked my ears and mind. I tried to concentrate wind-elemental magic in my ears and was able to save my ears from bursting up.
The Ago-bird didn't stop and a new wave overwhelmed my mind, but since my ears were blocked from the wind, I could only hear sound and was taken aback by the surprise. A gentle voice resounded in my consciousness.
" Child, can you understand me?"
My mouth dropped to the ground, but I managed to reply.
" Yes, I can understand you... What... what is going on?"
The bird didn't seem to be bothered by my question and gave me an explanation.
" I'm sorry. I must have startled you. You see, I spotted how you were using wind magic from the sky and got curious. I don't often see magic-users and especially not the ones that are as young as you. We Agos do not usually leave this forest and humans tend to avoid it. We are not strong, yet humans are wary of us."
Now that I think about it, one of Father's friends was very excited to see those birds.
" Did something happen that drove you out if the forest?"
"Happened? Well, some strong Monsters took over our theretory, so we were looking around to find us a new home..... but let's not talk about it. The reason I led you here, was to chat a little, because if your fellow humans heard my voice they would gather around and we wouldn't get the chance to speak."
The Ago-bird made some kind of laugh as if finding this very amusing.
' So it had no hostile intentions...'
" What is your name? You called yourself 'Ago', but this is the name of your species, right?"
The childish me completely took over and I just asked something strange.
" What?.." The Ago-bird got startled and froze on the place.
" I don't know your name, so I can't really address you in any other way except 'Ago-bird'. I wanted to know how to call you."
I showed a bright grin on my face and giggled. This confused and shy expression on this birds face, looked way too hilarious.
" .... don....ne..". it muttered softly.
" What? Sorry I didn't hear it."
" Donne! The name that was given to me by my parents is Donne. I am a king of Agos and I am happy to make your acquaintance."
