One week passed since Mia's and Hunter's wedding and while lovebirds enjoyed their honeymoon, couples in Seattle were not idle.
"It went well, right?", Derek asked Angela, unable to conceal his glee while carrying Angela's suitcase into the closet of his bedroom… now officially renamed as THEIR bedroom.
Angela exhaled and shook her head, but she was smiling as well. As expected, Ashton was not ecstatic about this, but he didn't blow into a fight either, so it went well. This moment marked Angela officially moving in with Derek.
Ever since Mia's and Hunter's wedding, Angela was spending nights in Derek's apartment. Actually, she went to Ashton's and Sabrina's apartment once to get additional clothes and for the last week, Angela would leave Derek's apartment in the morning for work and return in the afternoon in time to prepare dinner.
Angela and Derek worked out a routine where Derek prepares breakfast in time for them to eat and get ready for work, Angela is in charge of preparing dinner, and the rest is reserved for lovey-dovey time. For other chores, Angela does the groceries and dishes, while Derek takes care of laundry, trash, and tidying up the place. So far, it's working well.
Earlier that day, Angela and Derek went to visit Sabrina and Ashton, and Angela announced that she is moving in with Derek. Ashton reminded Angela that she stayed with them in order to save money and to help taking care of baby-William.
"I will take care of the rent.", Derek said right away, pretending not to see Ashton's frown. "Angela will handle groceries, and we will share other bills." Angela and Derek faced no problems in agreeing on the distribution of expenses. The rent is more than 60% of total expenses, but Derek would pay it fully anyway and he didn't feel right in splitting it in half considering that he is earning more than Angela.
"Rosie is doing a wonderful job as Will's nanny", Angela reminded Ashton. She didn't want to allow Ashton to make her feel guilty for moving out. "I am not needed, and you get your spare room back…" Angela tried to make it sound like it's not all about her and Derek, but Ashton knew better.
However, Ashton pressed his lips into a line and nodded in defeat, knowing that he can't stop her. Considering that Angela spent every night with Derek since Mia's and Hunter's wedding, Ashton knew that this is coming.
"Take a few days to settle in and figure out things. How about we go on a double-date this coming Friday?", Sabrina asked Angela and Derek to what they agreed. Sabrina turned to Ashton. "That will give you a chance to confirm that Angela is doing well…"
Angela was ecstatic. Of course, she was. She was officially moving in with her smoking-hot boyfriend who is a definition of sin.
Derek made sure to worship her body every night, and a few times during the day. If they were at home, there was a big chance that his hands (and the rest of his body) were on Angela, and she didn't mind, not even a little bit.
Back to the present…
Angela was arranging her clothes in the closet when she heard Derek's voice from the bedroom: "Do you think that Ash will accept me soon as his brother-in-law?"
Angela's eyes bulged out in surprise. "Brother-in-law!? Don't you think it's soon to talk about those things?"
Derek entered the closet with a small frown on his perfectly chiseled face. "Too soon? Do you see an expiration date on our relationship? Did you move in here because you are playing? Because I am not playing, baby. I am in this for the long term." He put his arms around Angela and pulled her into a hug.
Angela blinked. "I didn't say that I am playing but… we met only a few weeks ago and if I didn't hear you wrongly, you mentioned marriage."
"It does not matter how long we know each other. When you know, you know. And I know that you are the one for me."
Angela's lips twitched as she tried to suppress her smile while her heart swelled from emotions. "How do you know that I am the one for you?"
"Your sheath is perfect for my sword, baby, just how you fit perfectly in my arms. Every part of you is molded for me to hold onto…" He squeezed her buttocks and let out a small humming sound of approval. "You are made for me, baby, and I am all yours."
Angela closed her eyes and laughed helplessly. "This would be romantic if you didn't mention how your sword fits perfectly in my sheath and if you skipped on groping."
He looked at her innocently and asked: "Baby, aren't I your prince?"
"Prince does not talk about marriage while using analogies related to sex."
Derek's handsome eyebrow arched. "They don't talk about it. They just do it. And they move quickly. Do you know that princesses would marry before even meeting their prince in advance? Cinderella met the prince at the ball and the next time they saw each other she came to his castle to marry him. Ariel saw her prince once when she saved his life, and then exchanged her voice for legs so that she can move in with him. Snow White married a prince who kissed her when he saw her for the first time while she laid in a glass coffin poisoned in the middle of a forest. And what do you think the Sleeping Beauty did with her prince when he woke her up from a hundred years-long enchantment? She was already on the bed…", Derek paused and gave Angela a knowing look. "The first time they met it was in the forest, and they didn't know each other's identities, and on the second time, she was unconscious on the bed, he kissed her, and they did the naughty, but Disney censored it so that it's appropriate for little kids to watch."
Angela burst into giggles. "How do you know so much about Disney princesses?"
Derek shrugged like it's not a big deal. He waited for Angela to calm down before asking: "What do you say, baby?"
"About?"
"About us getting married."
Angela stared at Derek with her eyes open wide to the point of hurting.
"Do you know what you are talking about?", she asked when she found her voice.
Derek cupped Angela's cheeks with his palms and stared into her eyes seriously. "I love you, Angela Grant. I asked you to move in with me because I can't imagine my life without you. One week ago, I caught the wedding bouquet and gave it to you, so we are next to marry. When we meet with Ash and Rina for dinner on Friday, I want us to tell them that we are engaged. If you think that I'm moving too fast, you can always tell me to stop, and if you don't want…"
"Stop talking!", Angela interrupted Derek. He said that he loves her! For the first time ever, he said that he loves her! But after that, he said many other things which were equally mind-blowing, and she was unable to process it all. She took a deep breath to compose herself. "Everything with you is a rollercoaster and you make me feel things I never thought are possible, and I wouldn't want it any other way. But if you think that I will accept your marriage proposal without a ring and you going down on your knee, you are gravely mistaken, mister. This is serious business and just being handsome is not enough. You need to show sincerity."
Derek smiled. "Alright." He glanced down at the open suitcase and saw that there are a few more garments left to be arranged on the shelves. "Finish sorting things and let's go and buy a ring. I want you to pick because I don't have a clue about jewelry."
Angela was unable to stop smiling. "Just ring will not be enough. There better be some flowers and a romantic atmosphere."
Derek was about to agree how they can pick up the flowers on their way to the jewelry store, but then he paused. "Explain romantic."
Angela rolled her eyes. "You will need to google that."
Derek pursed his lips when he understood that he probably won't be able to accomplish all those tasks today, but he was not discouraged. He will google about romance first, and tomorrow they can buy flowers and the ring, and getting down on his knees (one or both) will not be a problem. He will crawl if necessary.
"Alright.", he responded and moved to kiss her before she comes up with more conditions.
Angela kissed his chin and dashed into the bedroom while giggling.
It took Derek a few seconds to realize that Angela left him like that, and he went after her.
"What are you doing?", Derek asked when he saw Angela lying on the bed flat on her back with her palms resting on her chest. Her eyes were closed, and she didn't respond. It took him some time to guess…
"Are you a sleeping beauty?" He chuckled. "Should prince Derek give you a kiss? That would be a true love kiss…", he said in a singing voice while sauntering toward the bed.
Angela's lips lifted into a smile when she heard Derek address himself as 'prince Derek'.
But he was right. Derek was the prince from her dreams because he was making her dreams come true. And more than that… he was making her dream new dreams that morphed into goals and the image of her future was getting clearer with every day she spent with Derek.
The sinful man who put her mind in a tizzy on the day they met, managed to become the one who can calm her while making her feel that anything is possible.
