261 A Little Sad

Two months later…

Jiang Mingyue leaned back on her seat and tilted her head up at the ceiling. After a while, her gaze wandered around, looking at every corner of the room as her mind drifted away.

She had spent her time for almost two years, and tomorrow, she won't have to return.

After working hard for the last few months, Mingyue finally finished her papers and sent in her resignation letter. Her professor was shocked upon hearing that she was going to quit. He tried to persuade her to stay, but Mingyue was determined.

Professor Gu, Mingyue's mentor, knew that the Lin's couple adopted Mingyue. Hence, when Mingyue told him that she was going to quit to look for her biological parents, the professor could not reject her resignation.

However, he had told Mingyue that if she wanted to return to work at the hospital, she would be welcome to return to work for as long as he was around.

Mingyue took a deep breath as she closed her eyes. When she opened her eyes again, her gaze stopped at the calendar on her desk. She picked up the calendar and stared at the dates with mixed feelings. Mingyue was about to place it into the box along with her other belonging when she noticed the markings she made on the calendar.

It was then that something caught her eyes.

Just as she was about to take a closer look, someone knocked on her door.

Mingyue snapped out of her thought as she shoved the calender into the box. Then, she looked at the door. "Come in."

The door swung open, and Doctor Yan Han peeked into the room. "Hey, it looks like you're done with packing," Doctor Yan said. She put both hands in her pockets and walked in. "I was planning to help you, but it looks like I don't have to."

Mingyue laughed. Then, she motioned to her friend to sit down.

"I heard that you have stopped seeing my professor last month," Doctor Yan said. "You're okay?"

"Un," Mingyue nodded. "I'm fine. After two sessions, your professor and I have agreed that my condition has improved a lot. Yan Han, thank you for your help."

"You're welcome." Doctor Yan watched her friend in skeptical. "You're really okay? What about the dreams you been having?"

"I don't know how, but I have stopped having them," Mingyue lied.

"Really? Doctor Yan furrowed. "Then, what about the man's silhouette you keep seeing in your head?"

"I've stopped having that too."

"Really?"

Mingyue nodded again. "Really. I took your advice, and since then, I have stopped seeing his image."

The frown on Doctor Yan's face deepened. "What did I advised you to do?"

"You told me to find a boyfriend and start dating," Mingyue pointed out.

"Get lost," Doctor Yan said in disbelief. "Really?"

Mingyue laughed. "Really. You've met my boyfriend, Yang Yun, a few times during lunch, right?"

Doctor Yan continued to watch her friend with disbelief. Of course, she had seen Mingyue's good looking boyfriend before. After all, Mingyue and her boyfriend had become a hot topic after she started to date. Sometimes, their female coworkers would peek at her boyfriend.

They could see how well her boyfriend treated her. Seeing the way they acted around each other, they could only watch with jealousy as the couple continued to feed them with dog food.

The two friends chatted for a while before they parted with a hug and wishes for each other success. Doctor Yan had sent her a parting gift.

Mingyue stepped out of her office when it was time to clock out. Once she turned around, her friends and colleagues stood behind her. Mingyue stared at them with her eyes wide.

"Doctor Lin," Nurse Tang stepped forward with a bouquet. "We don't have anything valuable to give you, but I hope you like these flowers."

"Thank you," Mingyue put aside her box and took the flowers. A laugh escaped her when Nurse Tang lurched forward and hugged her.

"I'm going to miss you," Nurse Tang said and sniffed.

"I'm going to miss you too," Mingyue smiled with helplessness. Hearing Nurse Tang's sobs, Mingyue's eyes started to sting. "Okay, don't cry, or I'm going to cry as well. I don't want to leave this hospital in tears. We shed a lot of tears during my farewell dinner two days ago."

Nurse Tang pulled away and wiped her tears silently. "Doctor Lin, don't forget to invite us when you and your boyfriend get married."

Mingyue replied with a smile but did not give a promise. After a while, she bid her the last goodbye to her friends and turned around. Mingyue put the flower bouquet on her box and carried them to the exit. Afraid that her tears might fall, Mingyue did not turn around to her friends again.

Once Mingyue walked pass the automatic glass door, she took a few deep breaths to calm down. Mingyue took a step and paused again. H

"Let me carry your staff for you," Yang Yun said. He took the box from his wife and frowned.

Yang Yun had thought that this time, her box would not be heavy. After all, Mingyue had transferred a few stuff back home since last week.

"Didn't I tell you to wait at home?" Mingyue frowned, but her tone was full of coy.

"How can I let you walk home alone?" Yang Yun said. "Today might be your last day in the hospital. But it was also the last day I came to pick you up and walk you home. How can I let this pass?"

Mingyue smiled. She held Yang Yun on his arms and tiptoed to kiss him on the cheek. "This is your reward! For helping me to carry my stuff."

Yang Yun let out a chuckle as he watched Mingyue took the bouquet on top of the box. "How are you doing?"

"It was a little sad to leave this hospital. After all, I have spent a few years here," Mingyue admitted. She glanced at Yang Yun and smiled brightly. "But, I will be alright."

Hearing Mingyue's words and seeing her putting her brave face, Yang Yun could only choose to look away and pretend that he did not see how she silently wiped her tears.
