When Yang Yun returned home from the palace that evening, he met with a servant who was carrying a tray of food outside the study. As Yang Yun approached, the servant quickly greeted him.
Yang Yun glanced at the food before he asked, "Is that for my wife?"
"Yes." the servant replied politely before hinting that his wife had not had her dinner yet.
"Give that to me," Yang Yun took the tray and entered the study room quietly. He placed the tray of food on the side table and walked to Mingyue. He peeked at what she was doing and saw that she was writing something in her medical journal.
Mingyue had promised that she would share what she had learned when she studied in the other world with her grandfather. After learning about what the other world referred to western medicine, Mingyue thought that it would be wasteful if she did not pass her knowledge to the others. Therefore, she would always find her time to write down her knowledge in her journal.
After writing for a bit, Mingyue sensed that someone was watching her. Her hand that was holding the brush stopped, and she looked up only to find Yang Yun staring at her. "You're back."
Yang Yun sighed at her response. "Why are you still walking around? Didn't grandfather told you to rest a little bit more?"
"I've rested enough. If I don't walk around, I'm afraid that I'll get sick." Mingyue put the brush down and went to his side. "How was the ceremony?"
"Everything is fine. The two were crowned as the Emperor and Empress, and the ceremony was smooth," Yang Yun said.
"This is the first time an event like this happened. I wonder if they can work together?"
"Let's not think about others first," Yang Yun said as he led his wife to sit down on the chair. "I heard that you hadn't had your dinner yet."
Mingyue looked at her husband with an innocent smile on her face.
"Don't give me that look," Yang Yun frowned.
Jiang Mingyue could only sigh at his response. Ever since she was pregnant, Mingyue found that acting cute to appease him no longer work like it used to be. Mingyue glanced at the food on the table and frowned. "I don't have an appetite."
"You still have to eat." Yang Yun took the bowl of soup and placed it in front of her. "If you don't like this food, then tell me what you like to eat. I will ask them to prepare them."
"That's fine," Mingyue drank a bit of the soup and suppressed the urge to vomit.
Yang Yun looked at his wife with distressed. Seeing that Mingyue would often vomit what she ate, Yang Yun wanted to pull away that bowl of soup from her hand. Looking at the way his wife had grown thinner, he knew that he has to force her to eat. However, forcing her was something that he did not like to do.
"Actually, I am craving for something," Mingyue said after a while.
His eyes sparkled when he heard that there was something that she would like to eat. "What is it?"
"That," Mingyue hesitated. "Yang Yun, I miss your cooking. I wanted to eat that fried rice you cooked for me the last time."
Yang Yun stared at her and laughed. When the two of them were stranded in the other world, and Mingyue had lost her memories, Yang Yun would often cook in his attempt to court her. When she got her memories back, he continued to cook for her, but this gesture stopped once they returned to Da Cheng.
"Are you sure? My cooking isn't as good as the cook in this house."
"But right now, that is what I wanted to eat the most," Mingyue looked at him with a pout.
Yang Yun watched his wife with a loving gaze. He planted a quick kiss on her pouted lips and said, "Alright. You wait here. I will go and make you some fried rice."
"I will come with you."
"No. The kitchen is full of smoke. It's not good for you at your body." He bopped her nose and said, "Be a good girl, and stay here."
"Then I will watch you from afar. I won't go into the kitchen. I just wanted to see you cook." Seeing that her husband did not respond, Mingyue pulled on his sleeves and continued, "Actually, I thought that you look rather good looking when you cook."
Yang Yun sighed helplessly. In the end, he caved in and let Mingyue come with him, on the condition that she had to wear a thick coat to keep her warm.
When Yang Yun walked into the kitchen, the servants were alarmed. However, since he was the master of the house, they had no other choice but to let him do as he wanted. In the end, a small chair and table were placed outside for Mingyue to sit and watch her husband cook.
Since there was leftover rice from dinner, it did not take him too long to prepare the fried rice. Quickly, Yang Yun put the fried rice into the bowl and led his wife to have her dinner inside the room.
As he watched his wife eating the fried rice, his lips gradually turned to a smile. Yang Yun wondered if it would be a good thing if he personally prepared her food from then on. "Is it good?"
Mingyue nodded to respond. She ate her fried rice silently, and without realizing it, not a single rice can be seen in the bowl. Yang Yun helped her to wash up after the meal.
When Mingyue rested on the bed, she turned to her husband and said, "Since the crowning ceremony has ended and the three months period has passed, we should tell our parents about this child."
Yang Yun paused and nodded. "Let's have a meal with the two families together. Then, we will announce the news to them."
