Chapter 273 - Let The Show Begin

"Miss, please calm down," Kwon Tae Yang reminded her anxiously.

They haven't caught the man in their trap yet but Yeo Ri was already acting like they had the upper hand.

Which they did, but still.

Everything was moot as long as he still walked free.

In accordance with Yeo Ri's usual modus operandi, they had planned to catch the man unawares by using Yeo Ri as bait, leading him to a place already crawling with their own people. After the capture, they would send the 'package' to the safehouse, to serve as Yeo Ri's punching bag for however long she wished. Yeo Ri tended to be a little aggressive with her 'toys', so Secretary Kwon often had to stop her once it became too serious; he did not wish for her to become a murderer, after all.

And so, a few more staged coincidences later, they had finally arrived on the D-day.

"There's some movements from the other side," Secretary Kwon informed. The whole building was being monitored by his people, and they had reported a number of unknown vehicles gathering at the back entrance. It didn't seem normal, and their suspicion was proven correct when one of the men was identified to be Woo Jin's secretary and right-hand man, the elderly Mr. Kim.

"Let the show begin," Yeo Ri smiled.

Secretary Kwon sighed grimly. He recognised that smile—it was the smile she used when she was planning to do something dubious; it was the smile that gave him no choice but to be her helpless accomplice.

He sighed again. He buttoned up his suit and exited the car to escort his little lady to her workplace.

...

..

The first few hours of work went on uneventfully.

Yeo Ri did a good job, as always, nailing her b.r.i.e.f.s as easily and accurately as she was instructed to.

The role was fairly simple—all she had to do was be dainty.

The character she was playing was a sheltered rich young miss who peaked in school. She didn't have much going on for her except for her naivete and optimistic nature. It would only be in her final scene where she would show a distressed, miserable look depicting the sadness of losing her family's wealth and status due to bankruptcy.

She had also projected her role during her interactions with Woo Jin, and the idiot didn't even notice. It was laughable how he was so c.o.c.ky that he thought himself invincible. The man wasn't very perceptive, but she supposed that came along with his privilege. He seemed like the type who always got what he wanted, even if he didn't ask for it. He probably thought she walked right into his trap, didn't he?

Dumb*ss.

Just as she started a new scene, am unfamiliar staff member approached Kwon Tae Yang.

"Uh, Mr. Manager, there seems to be some changes with the script for the next scene. Do you mind coming with me to pick up the new scripts?"

Kwon Tae Yang side-eyed the staff member. The person was wearing a cap and a mask that masked most of their features, but the voice was identifiably female. He couldn't recall if he had seen her before, but most of the staff members were dressed similarly that they all simply blurred together in his mind.

Kwon Tae Yang glanced at Yeo Ri who was passionately acting out her scene.

A part of him regretted becoming her manager. While he had a legitimate excuse to stay near her, there were too many times when he had to leave her side because of this status, and it might affect Yeo Ri's credibility if he skimped out on his duties.

"Come on, Mr. Manager, we don't have much time! I'll get scolded if we're late," the staff urged.

Kwon Tae Yang couldn't tell if she was acting skittish because she was genuinely scared of getting scolded or if she was trying to distract him from Yeo Ri.

He narrowed his eyes and slipped his hands into his pockets, looking mildly frustrated, as one should be when told that changes were made so suddenly to a thing that should have been concrete ages ago.

"Hurry," the woman hissed.

Kwon Tae Yang trailed after her slowly.

Within one of his pockets, he pressed his thumb against the screen of his phone. The phone buzzed silently three times before stopping.
