“Do you know what these wheat are?” Wu Peng asked with a grin.
Lone Eye Wang immediately nodded.
“I have a total of 20 kilograms of wheat here. It should get you 10 kilograms of flour after you husk and mill them. Take it.” Wu Peng placed his bag in front of Lone Eye Wang who immediately opened the bag with trembling hands. Lone Eye Wang stared with wide eyes and said that there were no problems after he examined its contents.
At this moment, a 60-year-old man beside Wu Peng said softly, “Young lad, you are making a loss with this deal. His vegetables are only worth five kilograms of flour.”
Even though the old man was soft, Lone Eye Wang still heard what he said. He immediately cursed loudly and pulled back his sleeves, wanting to beat up the old man.
Wu Peng knitted his brows and shielded the old man behind him. “Pour the wheat out quickly and put the vegetables in my bag.”
Lone Eye Wang was put in a spot. His crate was full of slits and while it had no problems storing vegetables, all of the wheat would leak out before he returned to his shelter. “Can you give me the bag along with the wheat?”
“Nonsense! I’m not selling the bag! I’m leaving if you’re going to continue babbling,” Wu Peng said sharply.
Lone Eye Wang had no other choice. He could only pour the wheat out and place his vegetables into the bag before handing it over to Wu Peng.
Wu Peng was not being stingy over the bag. He only wanted to teach Lone Eye Wang a lesson.
Wu Peng lifted the bag of vegetables and walked back to his shelter without stopping.
Elsa immediately ran out to welcome him when she heard movement.
“Elsa, I’m sorry, I didn’t manage to get any fruits. There were only a few vegetables,” Wu Peng said regretfully.
Elsa had a look of disappointment in her eyes. However, she quickly smiled sweetly, “That’s fine, having vegetables is good enough.”
She took out the vegetables from the bag one by one, “We can have a feast tonight!”
Wu Peng saw that she was about to bring the vegetables into the kitchen and quickly stopped her, “We can’t eat these vegetables yet. I have an important use for them!”
He brought all of the vegetables into the nursery after he finished speaking.
He picked out two of the potatoes that were not withered and warty and placed them in the nursing pod before he sliced the cabbages open and kept the hearts.
He placed the hearts of the cabbages into the nursing pod and did the same with the carrots.
This would be completely useless to an average person. It would only cause the vegetables to spoil. There was no way they could plant the vegetables.
However, it was different for Wu Peng. He had a nursery given to him by the Mechanical System. As long as these vegetables had not become spoilt or moldy, they would be able to sprout again through the nursing pod.
When that time comes, he would have an endless supply of seeds. In the end, Wu Peng got the better end of the deal.
After he left the nursery, Wu Peng told Elsa with a mysterious expression, “We’ll have fresh vegetables to eat every day in the future.”
Even though Elsa did not know what Wu Peng did, she had blind trust in him and immediately cheered in joy.
…
Time passed quickly. Three more days had passed.
Wu Peng constantly scouted the outside world with both of his Bird Scouting Drones.
He saw a group of suspicious people about 100 meters away from where the meteorite had landed.
He steered one of the Birds closer to check the situation out and found out that there were eight people in the group.
Judging from their pure black protective gear, this group of people must have been sent by Viper.
“I finally caught you!” Wu Peng immediately prepared to leave. However, he had a thought. Viper had failed two consecutive missions in a row.
This time, they would definitely have sent elites. Their group was also much bigger this time, with eight people. He knew that it was too dangerous for him to head there alone.
When he saved Elsa, Wu Peng would have become a pile of bones if not for his luck. He could not continue to take that risk again this time.
Wu Peng decided to notify Ye Wei. He wanted her to mobilize the law enforcers and catch the group from Viper off guard.
Ye Wei was resting with her eyes closed when he arrived at the law enforcer’s base.
“Captain Ye! I have something important to report!” Wu Peng said the moment he saw her.
Ye Wei did not even move her eyes when she heard that it was Wu Peng, and said, “Tell me about it.”
Wu Peng shifted beside her ears and whispered when he saw how relaxed she was, “I noticed a group of men from Viper.”
“Viper?!” Ye Wei immediately opened her eyes. She stood up as though she had been electrocuted. “Where did you get your information from?”
Wu Peng could not tell her the truth and lied, “I headed over to the market to purchase something today and coincidentally heard that someone saw a team of armed people wearing pure black protective gear 100 meters around where the meteorite had landed.”
That image fit Viper’s description. Ye Wei was a little excited.
She had contended with Viper for such a long time, and it was finally time to face off.
Ye Wei decisively gathered her men and personally led the team toward the location Wu Peng had talked about.
In the car, Ye Wei constantly explained their formation and tactics. She was prepared to take down their enemies in one fell swoop. “Remember, all of you! Every member of Viper has poison hidden in their mouths. We have to knock them out before they consume their poison if we want to capture them alive!”
The law enforcers signaled that they understood in unison.
Wu Peng secretly nodded to himself. Ye Wei had strong leadership capabilities and had considered the problem very thoroughly.
This time, they had mobilized 15 elite law enforcers from the base.
It seemed like Wu Peng could take it easy and observe the battle from the side this time.
The two six-wheeled vehicles advanced at full speed. They arrived at the location Wu Peng described in about an hour.
Ye Wei took out a pair of binoculars and observed the situation through the car window. She saw a few black figures jogging around toward her southeast. “Chase after them!”
The armored vehicle rumbled and chased toward the southeast, they caught up to the Viper’s team in less than three minutes.
Ye Wei picked up the loudhailer in the car and shouted, “Immediately toss your weapons aside and kneel on the ground to surrender! Otherwise, you will be killed on the spot!”
Wu Peng heard the words of justice she shouted and could not help but laugh, “I was always rather curious, does it help when you waste your breath like that?”
Ye Wei rolled her eyes at him, “Of course. Even though they will not surrender, it would make them feel flustered and frustrated. That’s enough.”
“So it’s psychological warfare,” Wu Peng said.
As they spoke, they saw three people split out from the group, lay prone on the ground, and start to shoot toward the armored vehicles.
The bullets let out a crisp ring after they hit the windows and front cover of the vehicle.
“Machine gun, fire!” Ye Wei gave a decisive order. The machine gunner in the armored vehicle immediately pressed a button. A Gatling gun warmed up for a few seconds before it started to fire.
A member of Viper was hit by the Gatling gun and became a mist of blood.
The 14.55 caliber Gatling gun did not have to hit someone head-on to kill. Even being scraped by the bullets could tear someone to shreds.
The two other members of Viper immediately turned to run when they saw the situation.
They had not brought any heavy weapons for their mission this time. They could not do anything against the armored vehicle.
The machine gunner wanted to continue shooting but was stopped by Ye Wei, “Don’t fire yet! I want to capture some of them alive. How can I get a statement if you smash them all to bits?”
She got the driver to chase after them at full speed.
The members of Viper clearly understood the terrain well. They went around a hill and fled into an abandoned building.
“They want to force us into urban warfare. Everyone prepare to get out of the car and battle! Remember, try your best to capture them alive!” Ye Wei was the first to jump out of the car after she spoke with the rest of the members following closely behind her.
